osteoarthritis

513154 tn?1340228889 Last November I had 5, 6, and 7 upper vertebra fused together and feel so much better in that way BUT i can't take anti inflammatory medications for my Osteoarthritis, Tylenol doesn't even help a bit and non of the arthritis over the counter meds help either. My question is... is there a non narcotic pain medication that I can take every day? I am 45 years old and very healthy besides my arthritis. thank you!
Avatar n tn I am afraid that I have developed osteoarthritis in my hands, esp. in the thumb joint. I experience pain up to 5 on 1/10 scale, but not swelling. After I ride my bike my hands hurt for several days, maybe the handlebar is too big around. The symptoms developed shortly after I broke my wrist (Collies fracture) two years ago. I realize that if I have this problem it isn't going away. How do I keep the damage to a miminim? I use Ibuprofen for pain with fair results.
Avatar m tn Warm and cool compress on the joint will help reduce the pain and inflammation. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications can be taken. Physiotherapy exercises aimed at strengthening the jaw muscles help. Please discuss with his treating doctors. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
Avatar m tn Please check with your doctor and/or pharmacist before combining any medications and supplements.
Avatar n tn A recent study at the University of Utah has demonstrated no benefits from taking glucosamine and chondritin and MSG. I tried those and they do not work. My problem with taking medications is that I am very sensitive to most of them which causes increased INRs etc. so I have to be pretty careful with what I do.
Avatar n tn Is it possible to have all 3 (Lupus, Osteoarthritis, Osteoporosis) and if so, is it common? I guess I keep thinking that maybe it seems odd to be young and have all 3 at the same time. I want one or more to go away and only have to deal with one disease at a time. Also...I have a lymph node that has popped up on my shoulder that no one seems to care about...any thoughts on that. As I said I always blame it all on the Lupus, so I havae an answer. Thanks so much for any ideas!
3060903 tn?1398568723 Medication may be prescribed to treat osteoarthritis flare-ups. Over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription medications can relieve OA symptoms. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are often used to reduce arthritis symptoms. Those available OTC include: aspirin ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) naproxen (Aleve) NSAIDs are a short-term solution for joint pain, and if taken for long periods they can cause stomach bleeding.
Avatar n tn I have significant amounts of osteoarthritis in my knees. They have taken me off all aspirn and tylenol products. I take TENORMIN twice a day, ZOCAR once a day, 5 capsils of ANTIGOL four times a day, NEXIUM twice a day, DARVON one capsil four times a day for the arthritis. I was told by an RN that ULTRAM/TRAMADOL would be a better pain (arthritis) medication in my case than DARVON. Would you please give me your opinion on which medication (Darvon or Ultram) you would suggest?
8317359 tn?1397624939 They have experimented with just about every pain medication and/or combination of pain medications and I have yet to enjoy one single 24 hour day without pain. I'm currently taking 120mg of Opana ER per day and I still suffer with severe pain 75% of the time. My PCP is now thinking about trying Fentanyl but, that may become an RX insurance problem because Fentanyl is so expensive. Does anyone have any suggestions and is osteoarthritis truly this painful?
Avatar f tn All the doctor would say was that he believed I was anxiety ridden, and gave me a script for Topomax. I want a diagnosis and some relief from my symptoms - not an anxiety drug!!!!! Can you get a false positive result on an ANA? Is a positive result always an autoimmune problem and if so, what type of autoimmune diseases can cause this to happen? Could my antiphospholipin syndrome cause this to happen?
Avatar n tn The plain truth of the matter is, NO good pain management doctor is just going to prescribe pain meds for anyone without first doing a series of tests and evaluations to see what their problem is.
440194 tn?1204711957 Some people IN RECOVERY ACUSE me of relapse but I am taking my medications as prescribed by my VA Doctor who is aware that i have been in Recovery for over 2 years i started going to AA because they said that if I'm was on Methadone for pain that I could not serve on committees that I was on so I left NA I had not done any street drugs for 20 years so I really belong in AA i thought and When they found out that I had a Brain Tumor Surgery they would not sponsor me or hang out with me I still had
13863066 tn?1431832284 What is came down to at the end of the whole thing is yes you have fibromyalgia and Osteoarthritis and post-traumatic arthritis but considering all of that he said I'm very active despite of it. I tend to minimize how I'm feeling, I always have so when he asked me to rate my pain on that darn 0-10 scale I don't even know why I said a 4 except my appointment was 8:30 in the morning and it happened to be a "not that bad of a day" yet.
1069378 tn?1255218732 Medications of all forms can be tried like topical, oral, or injectable medications to relieve pain and inflammation .You can try both acupuncture and also synvisc injections before considering surgical treatments like arthroscopy or joint replacement. Take a second opinion and discuss with an expert orthopedician specialized in knee surgery. Take care!
1059594 tn?1261327566 This is a hard question to answer JoshuaY46013 because everybody responds differently to medications. And with Fibro you may have concurrent ailments going on at the same time that you need to take care of in unison. I have degenerative spinal conditions and osteoarthritis as well as fibro, so I have to make sure I have a medication to cover each problem. So for the arthritis inflammation I take a strong NSAID. If you do not have any inflammation, the NSAID may not help you at all.
Avatar f tn I also took Darvocet and there is nothing else for my pain except the real strong stuff and I am trying to hold off as long as I can before I would take those, I have osteoarthritis in my joints, I need a hip replacement and I have osteoarthritis in my back also, I dont know what to take for pain.
Avatar n tn I posted here a month or so ago about hallucinations and feeling it was medication related but the Psyciatrist my Neuro sent me to for medication management and depression for my MS. I have also been diag. having osteoarthritis and fibromylagia by an arth. specialist before going to the new neuro (ins. you know, always changing Dr.s). My former neuro. however was not interested or sympathetic in the least of my complaints so it was for the best as my new neuro seems very up on MS.

Avatar f tn I took Cymbalta while on Methadone and had no drug interactions. I was placed on the Cymbalta for my issues with Bi-polar disorder but, had no luck in it helping me. That's just me though. I attend a Methadone clinic here in Cincinnati,Ohio and my doctor there watches us very closely. He had no issue with placing me on the medications together. Best wishes to you and please keep us updated on what happens!

Avatar m tn There are special medications for gout. Normal pain relief and anti inflammatory drugs, compresses and rest for the foot if this is osteoarthritis. For your migraines these can be triggered off by certain foods, allergy to medications, stress and anxiety. Keep a diary of the foods and drinks you consume to see if you can find a pattern. The culprit foods that cause triggers for most people are chocolate, coffee, cheese, oranges, red wine. You may have different triggers. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn So can medications such as dilantin and steroids, aluminum containing over the couter medications, excess coffee, colas and alcohol.
272434 tn?1228610809 I also have carpal tunnel and I have osteoarthritis. Both very painful, and I also need surgery, and I told them not right now. I take a long time to heal, and that alone is enough for me not to have surgery. I also use splints at night, and I have had to cut back on my quilting, but I refuse to stop all together. The osteoarthritis I have in all of my joints as well as RA, I have a triple whammy.
369861 tn?1306279286 This all started with my potassium being low and being hypoglycemic. The endo doctor took me off all diuretics so that i could take the renin and aldesterone tests. Does the potassium have anything to do with the thyroid and why did the endo take me off all diuretics to take the two tests. Doesn't he realise that my body would retaing the water and the result of edema? Just wondering?
Avatar n tn I know when I move a certain way my legs have no control and I know that mine is to do with osteoarthritis in my spine. I must be going blind because I didn't spot that you feel weak all the time. You should go to your doctor and get your blood tested. Feeling weak all the time can be a symptom of anaemia. That means lack of red corpuscles in your blood that carry the oxygen. It can also be a sign of depression. My advice is to see your doctor to check you out.
Avatar f tn The baker’s cysts can be treated with medications, joint aspiration, cortisone injection and surgery which is mostly arthroscopically. Take care.
Avatar f tn She was put under to have her jaw wired and was given a slow release morphine shot as well. Is this just her coming off the medications or should I be concerned?
