Avatar f tn I am 55 yrs. old and continuing to have acne flareups. My skin is oily with dehydrated patches. What can I do to improve my skin condition.
1356959 tn?1488979548 Acne occurs when the patient has high levels of androgens (male hormones). Androgens stimulate the sebaceous (oil) glands in the skin. Bacteria on the skin feed off this excess oil, blocking the pores and resulting in spots. Ginette 35 blocks the action of androgens on the skin. You may have to take it for 6 months, but it nearly always results in complete clearing of the skin.
Avatar f tn Comedones (whiteheads and blackheads) are created when the openings of hair follicles become clogged and blocked with oil secretions, dead skin cells and sometimes bacteria. When comedones (kom-uh-DOE-neze) are open at the skin surface, they're called blackheads because of the dark appearance of the plugs in the hair follicles. When comedones are closed, they're called whiteheads — slightly raised, skin-colored bumps.
Avatar f tn Glycerin soap isn't bad. Tea tree oil soap or other products for oily skin with tea tree can be helpful. Aveeno makes a lotion with salicylic acid in it for acne-prone skin. You can use white vinegar as an astringent at bedtime. It causes temporary redness, which is why you use it at night. If it's too strong, you can dilute it with witch hazel. For new spots you can treat them with toothpaste; it dries them out quickly. Neem soap is also good for acne.
Avatar f tn Acne or pimples are usually a result of hormonal changes and an irregular and increased production of oil by the sebaceous glands. An excellent remedy for pimples or acne-prone skin can be made by mixing 1 teaspoon ground cloves with 2 tablespoons fullers earth and ice water.Mix lemon juice, rose water and glycerin in equal quantities. Apply daily before retiring to bed. When you wash your face, use sugar to scrub it, at least once a day, for two weeks to rid yourself of acne.
Avatar f tn my skin is oily only in T-zone and i get acne in those region--i am unable to understand is it due to hormonal imbalance or intake of oily foods?once in a while i even get a very big red bumpy pimple which is very painful on my cheek and chin.
Avatar n tn 1. Apply the oil using a cotton wool ball directly onto the affected area after cleansing your skin. Do not rinse off. 2. Make a face mask once a week by whisking 4 drops of tea tree oil with an egg white. Apply this to your skin and leave for 15 minutes. Rinse off with warm water. Tea tree oil is among some of the best homemade acne treatments.
Avatar m tn Androgens stimulate the sebaceous (oil) glands in the skin. Bacteria on the skin feed off this oil (called sebum) blocking the pores and resulting in spots. You cannot wash all the bacteria away because they multiply too quickly. First try over the counter acne remedies containing salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide (Clean & Clean, Clearasil etc).
Avatar n tn To keep your skin acne free it is advised to keep it clean and oil free at all times. Wash the face atleast 2-3 times a day with a mild soap and keep it adequately moisturized. For mild acne one could use ointments containing benzoyl peroxide/ clindamycin; while for severer ones it is best advised to consult a dermatologist. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
10973934 tn?1414705023 Wash your face and then get some natural tea tree oil and put it on the pimples.I got it from walmart for like 8 dollars but make sure its natural.
Avatar n tn Hi, Acne occurs when the pores of the skin become clogged with oil, dead skin cells, and/or bacteria. The hair follicles containing glands that produce sebum open onto the skin through pores. These pores allow the sebum to reach the hair shaft and the skin. In certain situations, the glands excrete excess sebum and it cannot be cleared from the pores efficiently.
Avatar f tn Hi! Dry skin can promote acne contrary to popular belief. Picking at skin can cause ulcers and sores which will blemish your skin. Applying a moisturizer and using only soaps that are gentle on the skin is helpful in this case. Drink plenty of fluids and water. Keep a trough of water or use a humidifier at home in your rooms. You can apply petroleum jelly and glycerine on your face at bed time. When choosing a moisturizer, look for oil-based creams and ointments.

Avatar m tn Hello there, Acne occurs due to a blockage of oil underneath the skin and builds up with bacteria causing inflammation and develops into a pimple. The common causes of acne are poor diet, stress, genetic, dirt, hormonal imbalances, cosmetics, work-related and drugs. Wash your face with mild soap many times a day. Avoid popping or scratching them. Drink plenty of water.

Avatar f tn Alternatively, a course of oral antibiotics such as Oxytetracycline or Lymecycline will kill acne-causing bacteria on the skin (bacteria on the skin feeds off excess oil produced by the sebaceous glands as a result of more androgens than your body needs). There are also many effective prescription topical meds which out perform over the counter remedies. These include Dalacin-T (clindamycin) Duac gel (clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide) Differin (adapalene) and Retin-a (tretinoin). Eloise.

9062363 tn?1402524675 combo of castor oil, vitamin e oil and evening primrose oil...all can be found in the pharmacy section of a walmart. Quarter size amount and rub all over your face, use a warm wash cloth to wipe off the oil, rinse the wash cloth and repeat. Best thing I've ever used. Anything you buy that targets acne is stripping your face from actual oils is needs, so your face fights back by making more and pores get clogged. Defeats the whole purpose.

Avatar m tn Hi. Acne forms when the sebaceous (oil) glands are stimulated by androgens (hormones). Some people are more sensitive to the effects of androgens on the skin than others. See your doctor for an effective gel which will work against the abnormal skin processes associated with acne. Duac (clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide) or Differin (adapalene) are both effective.
