Common Questions and Answers about Oil skin acne

Avatar f tn I have suffered with acne since the 5th grade, if you used an oil and got rashes you need to see a doctor to get something to treat your reaction to the olive oil. Have you tried acne fighting products ? I recommend the Clean and Clear newest 3step acne cleanser. Or if OTC medication hasn't worked for you, visit a Dermatologist to see your options about medications and creams to help fight the out breaks and the boils.
Avatar m tn unfortunately the clear skin and oil free skin lasted only several months then it all came back. it is the OIL thats the problem. if i can control the oil, i wont have any acne at all. i go to a special acne doc and when i did ask him for a small dose of accutane he immediately said no and that it was a very serious powerful drug and just ended the discussion right there. he just wants me to keep using the clindamycin lotion which DOES keep the acne 85% at bay BUT does NOTHING for the oil.
Avatar n tn Hello, Acne is due to an overactivity and plugging of the oil glands. The main cause of acne is increased levels of hormones during adolescence. Acne usually lasts until age 20 or even 25. It is rare for acne to leave any scars unless picked. Just keep you face clean by washing with a mild soap atleast twice a day.Pat it dry and do not rub it.Avoid picking or pressing the acne. You can also use Benzoyl peroxide 5% lotion or gel once at bedtime.
Avatar f tn Hi You can use natural essential oil like tea tree oil, lavender oil, Clary Sage Oil,etc which helps in reducing acne problem and offer soft, smooth and shiny skin texture.
Avatar n tn Androgens (male hormones found in both male and female bodies) stimulate the sebaceous glands which produce oil. If too much oil is produced the glands become blocked with oil and bacteria, which feeds off the oil. Continue with your cleansing routine but avoid moisturiser unless you have dry patches on your skin. Cleansing alone will not heal acne, so see your doctor for an effective topical treatment such as Duac gel (contains Clindamycin and Benzoyl peroxide).
Avatar f tn My sensitive skin has always prevented my from trying out new products. Of late I came across the Sakare store at Neal Street and tried its solutions for sensitive skin. Of those available, the Problematik Skin Mask did the job for me. After using it for few days I can see visible difference in my skin and it looks way better than before.
883279 tn?1244102594 Hi, if you would like to use a natural product to help fade acne scarrring or repair sun damaged skin, then look for an oil that has Vitamin E (or even break open a Vitamin E capsule and smear it into the damaged skin). My favourite is Jojoba Oil which is high in Vitamin E and suitable for all skin types.

Avatar m tn Androgens stimulate the sebaceous (oil) glands in the skin. Bacteria on the skin feed off this oil (called sebum) blocking the pores and resulting in spots. You cannot wash all the bacteria away because they multiply too quickly. First try over the counter acne remedies containing salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide (Clean & Clean, Clearasil etc).
Avatar n tn I was on Accutane at the age of 18 and within a year or two the oil and acne returned. I'm 40 now and have more oily skin than ever, with long term effects from the Accutane. I have given up on all things that claim to reduce oil- none of it works for me. I strongly believe it's due to hormones and am seeking out a natural hormone doctor that does bioidentical therapy. I am currently treating my acne with oil which may seem ridiculous, but it seems to be working.
Avatar n tn my desperateness to get cure,i went for nlite treatment consultation and i was told that wouldnt help my skin color either .Does food help to agravate /calm acne down?.pls help.
Avatar n tn I have been off accutane for almost 3 years and there is no oil ever on the surface of my skin. Pre-accutane, my skin was extremely oily. I know you say the oil glands slowly come back, but they haven't comeback at all in 3 years. Two questions... 1) How do you the oil glands slowly grow back to the normal levels before accutane, did somebody inform you of this? just curious 2) Do you think its possible that they won't come back?
4877493 tn?1391631176 Hello, The cold air of the winter season potentially causes dry skin thus also exacerbating body acne .Regular cleansing, moisturizing and nourishing your skin will help. Makeup containing certain types of oils and waxes may clog pores and lead to more acne breakouts. You should use non-comedogenic beauty products, which contain ingredients that will not clog pores. Dry skin can cause closed and clogged pores .Open pores can be seen due to age or genetics, hormonal imbalances etc.
Avatar f tn My doctor told me to stop using it during pregnancy because it really dries up skin and the hormones of pregnancy already dry your skin up. What you need is moisturization. That acne medicine tore my skin up lol but everyone is different and I dont see why or if your doctor knew what they were saying. Hmmm interesting..
9062363 tn?1402521075 combo of castor oil, vitamin e oil and evening primrose oil...all can be found in the pharmacy section of a walmart. Quarter size amount and rub all over your face, use a warm wash cloth to wipe off the oil, rinse the wash cloth and repeat. Best thing I've ever used. Anything you buy that targets acne is stripping your face from actual oils is needs, so your face fights back by making more and pores get clogged. Defeats the whole purpose.
Avatar f tn I've used apple cider vinegar as a toner seems to calm and fade out the acne.
Avatar f tn Alternatively, a course of oral antibiotics such as Oxytetracycline or Lymecycline will kill acne-causing bacteria on the skin (bacteria on the skin feeds off excess oil produced by the sebaceous glands as a result of more androgens than your body needs). There are also many effective prescription topical meds which out perform over the counter remedies. These include Dalacin-T (clindamycin) Duac gel (clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide) Differin (adapalene) and Retin-a (tretinoin). Eloise.
Avatar m tn Androgens stimulate the sebaceous (oil) glands. Bacteria on the skin feeds off this excess oil, blocking the pores and resulting in inflammed acne spots. Best Wishes, Eloise.
Avatar f tn Add a toner to your routine it will help with the oil and only use your moisturizer at night. I have the same problem and acne flares but this change helped me. Good luck.
8628831 tn?1407267564 They say acne is due to a lack of oil that your skin is producing (oil blockage), so the Bio Oil has been putting the oil back into my face and is also evening out my skin town and giving me more of that "glow." Since I've started using it people at work have noticed.
Avatar n tn The glands then become blocked with excess oil and bacteria which feeds off this oil. Erythromycin will kill acne-causing bacteria on the skin and Differin will stop the abnormal skin processes invloved in acne. You are right to address this issue early. Acne can cause psychological distress and physical scarring and should be treated robustly as quickly as possible to avoid these potential problems. Best Wishes, Eloise.
Avatar n tn Androgens stimulate the oil glands in the skin. Bacteria on the skin feeds off excess oil (sebum) and the glands become blocked leading to spots. An effective treatment will target one of the causes of acne: Oil, bacteria and androgens. Products available to the public are of limited benefit for anything other than mild acne. See your doctor for one of the following products: A course of oral antibiotics such as Lymecycline or Oxytetracycline will kill acne-causing bacteria on the skin.
Avatar n tn m having the same problem as Heylady24. I finished a course of accutane 2 years ago and my skin still has no oil production at all. I used to have oily skin and i was told that my normal oil levels would resume post-accutane. Is this true or is my skin going to remain dry for a long time?
