Common Questions and Answers about Neck pain pinched nerve symptoms

pain

Avatar n tn Has the diagnosis of a pinched nerve been confirmed? Is the nerve that is pinched located in your cervical spine and thus producing symptoms of arm pain? It is important to know the location of the nerve as if affects the type of treatment that is recommended. If you are under the care of a doctor, have appropriate diagnostic tests been completed such as x-rays or MRI? Absent additional information, it would not be possible to determine your best treatment plan at this time.
Avatar f tn Pain started a month ago in my right shoulder after playing softball, felt like bursitis(sp?) Did the usual routine of ibrobrophen and heat, pain started radiate up towards neck and pins and neeles down arm after about a week.
Avatar n tn Do I likely have a pinched nerve? I had, for about 2 weeks, tight neck/shoulder muscles. Since I had this a couple years ago I saw my Doctor and was prescribed muscle relaxers again. I knew my left arm was weaker feeling but attributed it to the muscles being tight for so long. I then realized that my left triceps was not working at all(before taking muscle relaxers). I also have some pain in my left shoulder and elbow.
Avatar n tn Just this week, the pain in my left shoulder has started to improve while the shooting pain down my arm on the right side has started to occur. Could this be a pinched nerve in my neck? What should my next step be? This discussion is related to Shoulder Pain, Tingly Arm, Pinched Nerve?.
Avatar m tn It seems from the EMG that I have pinched nerves in both neck and lower back. So I wonder whats the relation here. Do I have neuropathy because I have radiculopathy? I have a very long list of symptoms, some of them more annoying than others. I have numbness mostly on my right hand, tingling, tenderness in buttocks (sometimes on the right sometimes on the left side) pain than run from my back to my hamstrings and ankles.
Avatar f tn He cracked my neck, and I have had excruciating pain going from the left sied of my neck down to just under my shoulder blade. I even had accupuncture several times, but that gets a little too expensive. This pain is absolutely killing me, it hurts so bad and feels like there is a pick or shard or knife wedged in my shoulder blade. I s there ANYTHING I can do to at least lessen the pain? Please help!
Avatar f tn Two days ago I woke up with a terrible pain in my neck and arm (just above elbows). The night before I was laying in a poor posture on the couch. Over the past two the days this pain is no longer and terrible as it is. I only feel the pain in my upper arm area when I bend my neck down. I at first thought it was a muscle issue, but my muscles have no pain. I did some reading and realized that I may have potentially pinched a nerve.
Avatar m tn I went to a Nero. He looked at my MRI and noticed a pinched nerve in the neck. He also thinks I have carpal tunnel and scheduled a test. But he said the MRI didn't show any lesions so MS is unlikely. The wrist pain is from carpal tunnel. The stinging skin could be an allergy or eczema and the numbness is also part of carpal tunnel. Does anyone have any burning stinging feeling in their skin that disappears after shower?
Avatar m tn pinched nerve possibly muscles spasms also possible I have degenerative disks in my neck which cause a neck rt shoulder cervical syndrome with the same symptoms but that doesn't mean that's what you have.. you should get an xray and see your doc, you didn't mention if there has been an injury or strain or overuse ?
Avatar n tn Wow...there is someone like me. My throat pain has been with me for almost 1 year now. Mine is on the left side. I've been told I have a rare case of Laryngeal Neuralgia but all the medicines they have given me have been unimpressive. I'm taking meds that help with nerve pain. I even had a nerve block that did nothing. I'm going to try another in a few weeks and hoping for relief. Lifting, movement, etc.
Avatar n tn I Have A Pinched Nerve in my neck and my left arm is where all the pain is. Should My Arn Be Swelling?
Avatar n tn It could absolutly make your back hurt if you have a nerve in your neck pinched. I had a pinched nerve in my neck and shoulder blade and I only felt the pain in my hand and wrist! Try finding a chiropracter to help you. I have had multiple pinched nerves over the years and they always seem to help me....
Avatar n tn If your arm pain shoots down from your neck, one possible cause to your symptoms is a radiculopathy, or pinched nerve. The spinal cord is encased by bones called vertebra. Nerves start to form as they come off the spinal cord and exit through holes formed between the vertebra. If a nerve is compressed on as it exits through these holes, particularly in an area called the nerve a radiculopathy results.
1284111 tn?1271592140 When it first started I had big neck pain also. Now the neck pain is almost all gone but if I work hard(mechanic work or heavy physical activity) it all come back right fast(neck pain and shoulder). If i stay idle for a couple of days, the pain will go away but not totally. So far I had X rays or cervical done, CT scan of neck also. Doctor says that it shows arthrose in there but they could not really see any herniated discs or anything explaining pinched nerve in neck.
Avatar n tn Sounds like nerve pain which truly is painful. Depending which nerves are involved it could be from a neck or carpal tunnel injury.
Avatar f tn There is a possibility that your symptoms are due to nerve compression in the cervical region or at the level of shoulder or elbow joint. Pinched nerve can cause pain in the muscles and numbness. Since you suffer from MS, this possibility cannot be ruled out as a cause of your current symptoms. MS is known to cause muscle aches and pains and paresthesias like tingling numbness, throbbing and stabbing pain. Please discuss both these possibilities with your treating doctor.
Avatar f tn She also said that I probably have a pinched nerve on my left side of my neck causing most of the discomfort. She gave me a muscle relaxer and some pain medication. Both doctors told me my pulse was completely normal and that my blood pressure was perfect. They actually smiled when I mentioned heart attack and told me not to worry, but I can't seem to stop stressing and worrying.
Avatar m tn Thanks your on the mark as this is what has happened pinched nerve in the neck as i slept funny waking up with my arm behind my neck laying on my back for how long i'm unsure but yes could take around 12 weeks to come good.
Avatar n tn I would not worry too much about tumor in your head , it sounds more like symptoms of pinched-nerve complications, with the unusual symptoms like above, I would suggest you to get a visit to a specialist
Avatar f tn s post may be right on, regarding a pinched nerve. I Have permanent damage to the C-7 nerve root from an injury, and your symptoms are very similar to the radiculopathy I suffer from. The nerve feeds through the vertebrae and down into arms and corresponding side of chest. Although I have this pain 24/7, it is often worse and hypersensitive after awakening. I have to be very careful as to the pillows I use, and the way I support my neck as I sleep.
Avatar m tn Hello~Yes, a pinched nerve in your lower neck can cause chest pain. The burning is usually a sign of a pinched nerve. I would see a chiropractor, he/she will take some x-rays of your neck, look them over and then discuss the results with you. After a few treatments, these feelings you are having should be better.
203342 tn?1328737207 I went to my family practice doctor 2 years ago and he thought it was a pinched nerve and sent me to PT and to do a nerve conductor test. The test did not show damage and I quit going to PT because I didn't see a difference. I went back to the doctor recently and he's ordering a MRI. While I'm waiting for that I got a free coupon to a local chiropractor for a free exam, x-ray and consultation so I thought I'd try that.
2932946 tn?1344722012 My lower back has been hurting so bad the last two days, i can't stand or sit up for over just a few minutes and laying down is a little better but still really uncomfortable. I have this weird pain/tingly feeling down my left leg constantly. I had an mri done before my surgery a few months ago and there wasn't a sryinx or anything, so I'm thinking it might be a pinched nerve cause i do have some bad discs. Or can a sryinx develop?
Avatar n tn m thinking I have a pinched nerve also. I just started to see a chiropractor. My symptoms have not resolved but have been told it might take some time. Good luck!
Avatar m tn MRI is essential to know the location of the pinched nerve, any disk problems or other associated causes of the nerve symptoms. Persistent nerve compression does lead to paralysis. Nerve decompression by surgery and physiotherapy is essential to avoid complications. Please consult a neurologist as soon as possible. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
