Avatar n tn Since the end of March I have also suffered unsteadiness and a light headed feelings which are now on a daily basis, I have some numbness that goes in to my Jaw and lips sometimes and neck pain. Also I get pain and numbness in my hands. I have visited a E.N.T. specailist who had ruled out any problem with my ears. Is it possible that these problems are due to my operation and perhaps nerve damage?
Avatar n tn Hi, Permanent nerve damage can be diagnosed by nerve conduction studies, CT and MRI studies. For the pain, different kinds of pain relievers can be used, as well as some drugs which are used in the treatment of depression or seizures. For the inability of movement that you currently have, physical therapy will help to some extent. Do come back with other queries that you have.
Avatar m tn I am in so much pain in my scrotum area and leg, does that mean the virus is not latent and running up and down my nerves or because I am not experiencing OB but nerve pain, do I have nerve damage? Confused as to how to control the nerve pain, Wondering if herbs such as Olive Leaf Extract, co-enzymatic Vit B complex, could help with the nerve pain. I don't believe the Valtrex is working for me; Side affect is a very bad headache.
Avatar m tn I have nerve damage in my leg after major back surgery and double knee surgery. It has been over two years and the chronic pain I will live dose not make the nerve damage and the oain I aleeady have. Mine didn't gwt this bad untul after the surgeries. I just had an EMG rest done so they could rule out bone root damage which requires more surgery. I am know in low dose pain patches and a topical compound which has lessened rhe shooting pain that goes along with the numbness and pain.

Well at the moment i too am suffering nerve damage down my right hand side it starts in my buttock and spreads down my leg. I am now taking 3 3x a day they are not working for me.
Avatar f tn Her GP has now (18 months after the accident and a new GP) referred her to the pain clinic for S1 nerve damage discussed in the consultants report and started her on Anti-epilepsy medicine to help control the pain. My question is this, can S1 nerve damage take time to present itself? After the accident my mother was put on strong painkillers which may have disguised the pain is this possible? Can it be a pure coincidence that this pain started after the accident?
Avatar f tn I have very bad indigestion. I was told this could be from damage to the vegus nerve. Can you give me insight into this matter? Can the damage to the Vegus nerve cause the indigestion problem as well as the ulcer, and hernias? Can the thyroid problem be from the Vagus nerve. I had the gall bladder taken out last year and continue to have pain. I am not a smoker or drinker. Recently I have had some anxiety problems. Help!
Avatar f tn I have nerve pain in my arms and left leg related to this. Have you tried Lyrica for the nerve pain? It really did help me. I have been off it because we've been trying for our first child and really notice a signifant increase in pain. I don't think massage would be harmful if the person is trained in back and neck injuries. It actually helped me quite a bit. Also consider trying tizanadine or brand name zanalex for the spasms.
Avatar f tn Nerve damage, or nerve pain? Two totally different things... Sciatic nerve pain is very common in pregnancy, but is generally self-limiting. I certainly suffer from sciatica during pregnancy. Nerve damage is permanent and becomes chronic. But it sounds to me like you are describing ligament pain, resulting from the stretching of abdominal ligaments.
Avatar m tn A van side swipped her mini-van and cause some severe neck damage. This damage cause constant pain in her neck, migrains, and some numbness. The treatment they prescribed was getting cold injections to the nerves in neck and head. She received three treatments over the past year with some short term relief of pain but always come back. Beside this treatment she been doing a routine of physiotherapy, deep tisse massage, water therapy with some relief but not enough.
664365 tn?1225157789 ve seen since have said this appears to be a classic case of nerve damage. I have had one nerve block that gave some relief for a couple of days, and have tried Lyrica (which I couldn't tolerate) and now Cymbalta, which is giving me some side effects at 30 mg a day. I have been taking Meprozine 50/25 mg and Zanaflex 12 mg morning and night just to get through each day. I also use topical Lidocaine ointment on the area around the surgery site.
Avatar m tn You may certainly have wrist tendonitis, but why the neck and shoulder pain. The pain and numbness you are having could be from your neck and an EMG would assist with that answer. It is a nerve conduction study. You also need an xray and MRI of your neck to rule out that as a cause for your numbness. I would see a neurologist.
Avatar n tn had total removal in October 2011, in March 2012 experiencing neck pain back pain sciatica nerve pain, to the point I couldnt walk or stand up straight for 3 months finally got a CT Scan showed pinched nerve at best in cervical area, bulging discs on 5 different levels in thoracic area and sciatica nerve damage possible. Never had one day of neck or back pain my whole life and I am 44 years old. Just wondering if thyroid surgery can cause these major symptoms.
Avatar f tn I am now and have been suffering from major headaches (that make me vomit) drop in blood pressure dizziness and severe neck and shoulder pain. My neuro has me on hydroco and is going to do a myelogram.
Avatar f tn This is a common complaint that is often attributed to nerves regenerating over time. Unfortunately, due to invasive surgery, tissue and nerve damage and especially if you had radiation therapy the discomfort could last for a long period of time. If your pain is constant I think you should be seen in a Pain Center, because there are definitely treatments for it.
Avatar f tn I recently had chiari surgery and had an Emg in October that said I have damage to the spinal accessory nerve- I have pain in the shoulder, neck, back and clavicle. I have not been able to find a doctor in my area that can help me with this issue. Does anyone know of a doctor that will do a nerve graft? Has anyone had a successful graft? I need to go back to work and I know I am running out of time for a nerve graft- it will be 6 months since surgery in mid January. Any help is appreciated.
760862 tn?1243097304 ) I had been experiencing some arm pain and finger pain with my neck problems and was told it was nerve damage. He gave me some medication for it and I don't take it any longer but it helped when I needed it for the pain in my arm and fingers. I was getting injections for my neck and the arm and finger pain just eventually went away. So I think you may be having some nerve pain from either nerve damage or problems steming from another injury you may have.
1776001 tn?1315065510 Healing would depend on the type and severity of nerve injury and the nerve(s) involved. A nerve conduction study (NCS) may be able to give a rough idea of the injury and the healing. It would be best to discuss this in detail with your neurologist/ orthopedician. Meanwhile you may benefit from medications that help in relieving neuropathic pain. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar n tn When did the sneeze occur? I have a similar issue. If you've had the nerve damage for 20 years, whatever nerve damage exists is probably permanent. I've been told that nerves heal at a rate of about 1/2 inch per month, so for the sciatic nerve, you are looking at up to 2 years for recovery. After that, what you have is what you have. Now, that assumes that your problem is entirely resulting from the nerve damage. I don't know what type of strengthening you've tried.
Avatar f tn Depending on how long a nerve is impinged it is possible to be left with perm nerve damage....ur Dr should be able to tell and should inform u if that is the case.... Not muscle damage this is nerve damage and usually associated in those with a syrinx, this is y those that do not have one have surgery to help prevent one from forming....
