Common Questions and Answers about Ms symptoms or anxiety

multiple-sclerosis

Avatar f tn Hi Lolly - Welcome to the group. What you describe does not sound typically MSish. You said that in one instance your symptoms resolved after starting Zoloft. In another they resolved following a massage from your husband. Both the massage and the Zoloft are ways of alleviating stress. Once the stress was eased, the symtoms went away. Some of what you describe could be caused by MS, but MS does not respond this way.
Avatar f tn I have an appointment with a neurologist next week, but I just wanted to hear from others about how their MS symptoms started. Does this sound like MS, anxiety, migraine related or a nerve problem related to posture and overuse? Thanks so much for your time!
Avatar f tn I am set to have an MRI and I am terrified! I don’t know if that means MS or what? Of course I googled the symptoms and it came with MS being a possibility. After reading this I have gotten a weakness and fine motor issues in my right arm (I can button and do small things, but it just feels off). I also have burning in my left ankle and sometimes pain going all the way up the back of that leg and they feel heavy. My foot on that leg feels weird as well.
634733 tn?1316625992 He told me that in his opinion there was nothing else except MS that would give the results from the mri or cause my symptoms, should I chase the lumbar puncture? By the way my sister has RRMS.
Avatar n tn Also, I think that fact that you are working for the MS Society has made you hyper-aware of the symptoms of MS, which can also be playing tricks on your mind. I also work for a company that does work with MS patients and MS medications, so I feel like the fact that I generally know more about MS has played into my fear of having it. Have you seen a psychiatrist at all? Maybe talking to one about your fears regarding your health would help. Also...
Avatar m tn Hello, For the last 3 weeks I have had this tingling sensation in my right shoulder blade. No pain was involved just the tingling sensation. It finally went away this past week and it hasn't returned but now my back feels somewhat stiff. Still, it's not painful just an annoyance. Also, my hands feel weird. Not quite tingling but just odd. I don't know if it's anxiety or mild symptoms of MS but there is no actual pain or numbness.
1132574 tn?1271672466 Was wondering if any of you experienced symptoms like this in the beginning stages of MS? I do not have numbness or tiredness at all right now. Having an MRI tomorrow just of the lumbar spine. Kind of wish he ordered a full spine MRI. My ortho doc seems to think it is a herniated disc though. Thanks!
Avatar f tn t tell you how many times i was told my symptoms were the result of stress and/or anxiety and sent on my way with a prescription for anti-depressants or even valium. i know anxiety can do a number on people, but i knew in my gut that there was more going on with me than that. i am currently undiagnosed, but after seeing over 20 doctors, i have finally found practitioners who are taking me seriously.
Avatar m tn You know, MS is a common thought for people with anxiety, bc od similar symptoms! I am one of them! My doctor said that I don't have MS, but still, from time to time, I get the enormous fear of MS! Even people on the MS forum told me I got anxiety..... So if your tests are clear, and your doctor told you so, relax!
Avatar f tn m back to square one....me searching up my symptoms it narrowed it down to anxiety or Ms. Nobody in my family has this and this is my first time hearing about ms. Im praying and hope this is anxiety just relapsing again. It seems like Ms would destroy my basketball career and I go back in a couple weeks. I must say the tingling is mostly in toes on my left foot and the tingling in fingers go away for a while. I have no numbness anywhere no diarrhea no blurry vision.
Avatar f tn Hi I'm a 19 year old basketball player, I'm pretty fit and never had health issues until about 2 months ago the start of summer. I was so stressed out it got to the point of having pains in my chest, heart palpitations. I finally went to the doctor and he told me it was anxiety, perfect ekg and all. The symptoms went away quick after About two weeks. I went about a month without symptoms. The heart palpitations slowly for some reason came back.
Avatar n tn Hello, I too have a fear that i have either ALS or MS, If you feel you might have MS you should ask your Neruologist to give you an lumbar test to see if the protein in your Cerebrospinal fluid is elevated.
Avatar m tn Hello all we'll about 2 months ago after igot back from a skiing trip I was just sitting on the computer and all of a sudden I couldn't breathe and had to call 911 they came out and everything was fine. Avatar m tn Also, muscle 'jerking,' (where an arm or leg actually moves out or in very quickly) is pretty common in MS. This can happen just once or multiple times, and is called myoclonus. But twitching, particularly widespread, can be from quite a lot of things, not usually MS. By twitching I mean little muscle movements that may be just felt, or may be seen under the skin.
Avatar m tn It is hard to say whether anxiety causes symptoms or symptoms cause anxiety. Even Doctors have trouble figuring that with each of us.You can have a GP perform a Neurological exam if you are concerned. They can decide if you need to see a Neurologist and what kind. Neurologist's specialize as MS Specialist or Headache Specialists.
