I understand these should be avoided while pregnant, but what if they are medically necessary? Has anyone gotten an MRI or Cat Scan while pregnant? What was the outcome, did it have an affect on your baby? Was it worth it? I have been experiencing agonizing pain in my left shoulder, neck, and arm, that sometimes radiates to my chest, making it hard to breathe. I am having a really hard time sleeping, and even functioning, and my quality of life has gone down because of it.

Hi, Pineal cysts are asymptomatic and are mostly incidental findings on MRI and CT scan. Anyone with a pineal cyst can lead a normal life without any complications. Very rarely the cysts can produce symptoms like headaches, visual disturbances and hydrocephalus. Asymptomatic cysts require no treatment although sometimes the doctor can monitor the cysts over time by regular CT scans and MRI. Hope this helps!

I am 43 year old female with bad pain on right side under my ribs, alot of burping!!!! I have been scheduled for a HIDA scan on Nov. 12th. I am very nervous about everything but the thought of radioactive meds. injected into my body really bothers me. I have tried to find info but it's not very helpful. If anyone has been through this can yu tell me if there were any side affects to the radiation? Alos my mother has Graves diesease so I am concerned this could hurt my thyroid.

I had an MRI, Ct scan AND several xrays done for my migraines. i get them a lot. the MRI and Ct scan both came back fine.... the xrays showed that i have extra fluid in my sinuses, which was later diagnosed as sinusitis.

My daughter who is 18 had been choked about 3 to 4 time in nov-dec-jan and at the end of jan had a seizure. a mri-eeg and ct scan and all blood work was normal. She has fallen 3 times, and now has had a totol of falls and seizures 6 in total.The neru doc has not heard of this game. she was not playing it, but her ex bf played it with a ex and would grab her by the throat.The neru doc is now saying the seizure are due to migraines, which she has never had before.and has put her on topamax.

Usually contrast is given if there is a history of tumor, cancer or surgery, infection or inflammation, to evaluate blood vessels and to investigate a finding on the pre contrast part of the scan. I had a cat scan and blood test that showed a lesion on my brain. My doctor the had me get an MRI brain scan which his nurse said came back normal. Then why do I still feel like my brain has been scrambled ,and I just don't feel good overall?

The ENT specialist said my Audilogy show classic menieres, but refered me for an MRI scan to be sure, Mri scan show ears are OK,howver enat specialist as refered report to neurologist for 2nd opinion. I wandering is this normal, what is the neurologist looking for.

Sorry I left that out.... it was for parathyorid scan. It was a bad scan at all. You were right Chiari is a brain problem. I just left out what type of scan I had. I had a brain mri scan for recurrent 'auras' thought to be due to migraine. The result of the scan came back normal except for a few spots of plaques. I am 50, is this normal? I am concerned that it is indicative of early degeneration associated with dementia.

They can however, detect mental illness such as scitzophreneia which i know because i was diagnosed through an MRI. The only mental illness an MRI scan able detect is an actually different brain connections than that of a normal brain. Ive had one done for mental illess! my wife had a mri scan on her neck the result came back as follows mri on the C- spine showd minor degenerative changes with a normal spinal cord there disc lesion at C6/C7 which corrugates the postrior longitudinal ligament by the spinal cord .

Is it necessary to have more than one MRI scan done. I have only ever had the one scan, 15 yrs ago which was when I was given my official dx, despite having several episodes/relapses since. Initially told I had RRMS now being told I have SPMS with relapses.
