Mri scan brain aneurysms

Common Questions and Answers about Mri scan brain aneurysms

mri-scan

Avatar f tn No, I have not. Mine was found by an MRI/MRA scan that was being done to check on a stroke. Then the neurosurgeon wanted to do a CT scan to accurately check the size of it. I'm not a doctor and have no way of knowing, but it sounds too simple to rule out by a stethoscope. I would also be leary and I read where aneurysms can be heriditary. Hopefully someone else can give you an answer. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I have had both an MRI and CT scan of the brain within the past six months, both without contrasts. I had the MRI to check for MS or other problems as I suddenly developed body wide twitching muscles. It came back normal. I also had a CT scan at the ER because I temporarily lost vision in my left eye. It came back normal and I was diagnosed with a migraine. For the past month or so, my neck has been sore and stiff.
Avatar n tn This possibly could be a medical emergency with a brain aneurysm. I do know that brain aneurysms can take lives. Headaces like this could also be a tumor. This also could just be a migraine. I found a website that explains sympotms of a brain aneurysm. Good luck and I hope your husband is okay. Please keep us updated.
Avatar n tn ve read other opnions that it is caused by a congenital connective tissue disorder, and that I am at risk for brain aneurysms too. What is your opinion? And do I need to be monitored for brain aneurysms, and if so, how?
Avatar n tn My aneursym was orginally picked up on a MRI, my doctor then ordered a CTA of the brain to verify that it was an aneurysm. The CTA looks at the arteries in the brain and can clearly show the location, type and size. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Factors that may cause this or contribute to its rupture are smoking, hypertension, head injury, family history of brain aneurysms (so sisters may have). Common symptoms could be loss of vision, headache, eye and neck pain, seizures, paralysis, gait disturbances etc. Investigations like CT angiography, MRI, CSF examination (presence of blood) are essential to reach at diagnosis here. Neurosurgery is the mainstay of treatment that may be suggested by a neurologist after examination.
Avatar m tn I have been doing some research on the internet, and have found alot of posts about brain aneurysms. Needles to say I am scared to death. Does this sound like possible symptoms of an unruptured brain aneurysm? I also keep a stuffy nose (No drainage) and have been told I could have chronic sinusitis. Any information you could give me would be greatley appreciated.
Avatar f tn The other part to this questioning is if there is any corealation between this and brain aneurysms? My aunt recenlt passed away at age 50 of a brain aneurysms and her 2 cousins (also my aunts) also have passed from the same thing? My aunt who died about 3 years ago is my dad's sister.
Avatar f tn Checked my BP the other day and it was 195/101. Went to ER and it was 215/105. CT scan, bloodwork, and chest xray were all negative. Also, when my gf and I were intimate the other day, right before orgasm I got the WORST headache Ive ever gotten. I keep reading online about aneurysms and it has me freaked out. Started BP meds yesterday and today my BP was 116/71 and 125/76. I still have the headache though. Any thoughts?
847433 tn?1243009652 Hi, Was wondering if anyone can describe what an aneurysm looks like on an MRI with contrast. I had a brain mri w/wo contrast and there is a rather strange pic, not been read yet by radiologist but neurologist said when I asked said something about it being a collection of contrast material. Looks like a round ball with another sort semi round "something" attached and the vascular areas around it are lit up as well. Cant describe very well.
Avatar m tn I would think maybe he was surprised neither of my aneurysms had popped. Next step is a ct scan, 8/7. He will meet with his team and make a plan. There r now flexible caths and other materials to fill aneurysms. Not sure if some may be not metal and therefore may cause less of the issue you wrote about...metal not being accepted by the body. Also another surprise was my MS doc was looking @ MRI FROM May, 2013 asked me if I knew I have a Meningioma ?? Well, no I do not.
Avatar m tn Some doctors do recommend screening of bicispid patients for brain aneurysms, as there is a higher rate of both brain aneurysms and aortic aneurysms for BAV individuals, compared to the general population. Whether you need to go through a CT or MRI on your head is a decision between you and your doctor. Some doctors poo-poo it, but the statistics are there to support screening for brain aneurysms in association with BAV.
Avatar f tn Good luck and don't worry. A CT scan after auto accident showed 3 aneurysms in my brain the biggest has been coiled it was 10mm x 8mm at the basiler artery. The other 2 were small on the right side of brain and were fixed by a crainiotomy.
Avatar f tn getting married and this nagging fear keeps rearing its head. back in 2010 i had an MRI and MRA with no contrast done to detect any aneurysms and results were normal. this past february 2015 i had an MRI of the head without contrast for dizzy spells and also was told the results were normal. my mom and aunt both died at the same age of a brain aneurysm at 41. I'm 33. their other two sisters were screened and were clear. am i worrying for nothing or are my concerns warranted.
5433238 tn?1367893298 I've been told aneurysms run in a family. My mother died 12 years ago from a brain aneurysm. Should I be tested?
Avatar n tn A previous CT scan also picked up aneurysms in the braciocephalic artery and the origin of the left common carotid artery. The AAA stayed steady at 4.5 cm and the left common cartoid was also unchanged at 1.8 cm. The braciocephalic artery went from 2.6 yo 2.8 and the report noted that it was "markedly dilated." (This makes me a bit nervous.) My aortic arch measured 3.2 cm and the report noted that it was aneurysmal.
1175891 tn?1265728013 If the chest x-ray and MRI were ordered specifically to rule out a pulmonary embolism, would an aortic aneurysm be spotted? Based on your profile it seems that you have quite a bit of experience with these procedures. In the military a referral is needed from a PA to have these tests done, and they are reticent to refer a single patient for the same procedure twice because it would essentially mean they made a mistake... it took me 2 years to have them acknowledge a hernia for this exact reason.
Avatar n tn s it is- a ct scan does not always pick up on things. I had a ct scan and it picked up nothing and an mri picked up a pituitary tumor but I'm told its not the cause of my symptoms. The aneurysm was pick up by an mra. I've been seeing doctors and still have no diagnosis for the fatigue, dizzy spells and ear ringing I also have - I don't have muscle spasms though. You know I read your other post from Sept 28 - did it say you were diagnosed with sinusitus??
Avatar f tn Aneurysms in the brain occur when there is a weakened area in the wall of a blood vessel. An aneurysm may be present from birth (congenital) or it may develop later in life, such as after a blood vessel is injured. A person may have an aneurysm without having any symptoms. This kind of aneurysm may be found when an MRI or CT scan of the brain is done for another reason. A cerebral aneurysm may begin to "leak" a small amount of blood.
Avatar m tn i have been told i suffered from bleeding in the brain ,the bleeding has stopped ,my doctor has given me almost no info about this,it showed up on a ct for headaches i had 5 ct scans and an mri ,an eeg and ultrasound , all i have been told is that the bleeding stopped on its own ,and some things we can control ,some we can't does this sound reasonable ? i have no symptoms of stroke ,and was told the headaches were not caused by the bleeding.
6473455 tn?1381627629 Where is the aneurysm located—in the brain or neck? I am assuming you had a brain MRI and an aneurysm was found in the left internal carotid artery. An 11mm aneurysm is considered mildly large (large aneurysms vary in size from 1 to 2.5 cm). One can adopt a wait and watch policy, but saccular aneurysms are known to rupture or bleed as they are often present at bifurcations of blood vessels (area of blood turbulence).
Avatar f tn For some insight regarding tests. There is often a discrepancy in the size of measurement between CT scan, MRI and echo. The reasons include whether the internal or external diameters are measured, the axis of the aorta that is measured, and the site of measurement. Generally, a 3D reconstruction of the aortic root is the most accurate. However, echocardiography is a safer method for regular follow up because of the radiation dosages with CT.
1629677 tn?1299655604 This sounds similar to what my husband had. Does the pain dissipate when you lie down, and return when you are sitting up or standing? That was what my husband experienced. A positional headache. Turned out he had spontaneous intracranial hypotension. He was leaking spinal fluid, though he had not had an injury or a spinal tap to cause a leak - thus the "spontaneous" part of the description. I hope you can get an MRI soon. They can't always see these on a CT scan.
