Avatar f tn With my 1st born I got an epidural and I was looking into different pain relief options for this pregnancy. Any of you got morphine instead of an epidural and how was your experience?
Avatar f tn Morphine is also one of the ones they use during labor. I think you are okay, but with extended dosing it is considered a narcotic and can be addictive. If you do use during pregnancy, then the delivery staff need to know so they can monitor baby for withdrawl symptoms. It may make your delivery stay a little longer. It doesn't harm babies development though as far as I know. Definitely ask a pharmacist though they are much more familar with drugs and contraindications of taking them.
Avatar n tn Morphine one time isn't going to harm baby. I had morphine when I was in labor and my daughter is perfectly fine and healthy. Doctors prescribe women pain medications all the time when the benefits outweigh the risks. Definitely call your doctor and talk to them. There's nothing you can do about it now but they still need to be aware that you had it.
Avatar f tn Did u tell them u were pregnant !??
1430743 tn?1302740667 Thursday night i had a much more severe attack and ended up at the ER again. They gave me morphine and sent me home with morphine orally. So here i am writing to see if im the only one in the situation. I have tried managing my food but i have always loved food and finding it very hard. I haven't eaten fried food at all. but i still get attacks. Im soooo depressed over this. My poor DH has to lose sleep along with me in the ER.
Avatar f tn It hard to cope. I know oxycontin is pregnancy category B and Morphine is pregnancy category C but I was curious if it is more likely for neonatal withdrawals form morphine or oxycontin? I think oxycontin has a higher molecular weight and therefore harder time crossing the mom baby barrier. Heard two moms taking 40 mg three times a day had no withdrawals, but didnt know it would be the same for the morphine or not. I am taking 15 mg twice a day of oxcycontin and 40 mg of oxycodone.
Avatar f tn I have been on methadone since then and just had another boy that was born jan 29 2014, i was on 75ml and his score was all the way to 15 before they decieded to put him on morphine. I am so worried and concerned about him coming off it, i kno its only micrograms but still dont want him having any wuthdrawls at all.
Avatar f tn I'm 8 weeks pregnant and started bleeding, had an ultrasound and labs done. Ultrasound showed me at 5 weeks. When I was 5 weeks I had a migraine and the er dr gave me morphine even after confirming the pregnancy. Could I be having a miscarriage and could the morphine have caused it? I don't have any pain just bleeding more than spotting.
Avatar f tn I have several chronic pain conditions and have been on heavy duty pain meds for years. I have been weaning off as fast as I can as I was planning on getting pregnant next year sometime. However... life throws you surprises and well here I am. I am on methadone and morphine. I'm down to only 5-10mg of methadone and 15-30mg of morphine daily. I am still having pain and need some amount to make life tolerable. However I know it's horrible for baby! Any tips?
Avatar f tn dilaudid is morphine and its prescribed for pain during pregnancy.. as long as your not continuing to take it up to birth (because baby will be addicted when born) everything should be fine BUT bring it up to your OB..
Avatar m tn She had a t/v scan and the baby was doing good and heart was healthy. The hcg levels were great. Then she was in bad pain. They gave morphine and then she was sent home. But she ended up losing him at home. We went back to confirm an empty uterus. A complete miscarriage was documented and the doctors were shocked. Was this due to the morphine? She weighs 112 lbs the injection was pushed through an iv line. Did the baby die from withdrawal symptoms?
Avatar n tn Hi yes it is normal behavior for Morphine, when you first start it your on top of the world then comes irritation and depression and even nightmares for some. How much is he on? How long? and dose he want to quit?
525732 tn?1213046071 Well, first of all i know what i would tell your husband. Who cares what he wants or doesn't like. Look at the mess you are in. Sounds like you need to go and speak with a doctor and explain that you want to get off the morphine. Don't forget to tell him about this husband also who is obviously causing you alot of anxiety.
Avatar m tn I pretty much thought it had something to do with the morphine. Any advice? He needs it for his back. My view is morphine is probably better than any other of the narcotic analgesics because it is the most natural and has been around for centuries. I certainly would not want him on oxycontin or fentanyl. Is Opana ER any better? Need advice from doctor preferably or someone who has an idea what they are talking about regarding this matter.
654183 tn?1225309036 My husband is addicted to Morphine. I have never done any type of drug and I really don't know what to do to help. Every time I think I know what is going on I find out something else he has lied about. At first it was just taking the pills, then it was crushing the pills. Now I'm finding needles and spoons everywhere. He claims that he gets the pills down to liquid form and puts them in the needle and squirts it in his mouth. I just don't believe him anymore.
Avatar m tn I am going to go cold turkey on tuesday from 100mg morphine, been on them about 6 to 8 weeks. feeling sick when I dont take them and not able to take off time for detox and types for detox?
784419 tn?1236261756 After running the gamut of pain medications in an effort to find some relief from the constant, chronic pain I endure from spondylolisthesis, I've been prescribed morphine tablets at 10 mgs per tab. I'm still getting no relief from the pain. Should I ask my GP for a higher dosage?
Avatar f tn Morphine must be okay for the liver because that's what they used when I was in the ICU following my liver transplant. Be VERY careful with morphine. I was on it for 7 days and went wacky with hallucinations of all kinds.
Avatar f tn my friend dissolved morphine tablets in hot water then injected it into her vein is this going to hurt her?
Avatar n tn The morphine is actually much less problematic than the oxycodone. You should be comfortable taking the morphine and not the oxy.................
Avatar n tn iam on anti depressents floxetine & amytriptlijne then tramadol & 80 mg of morphine a day do you think i would be ok to get a job
Avatar f tn Second - is this a short acting (SA) or is it a long acting (LA) Morphine? 60mgs of Morphine is one heck of a one time dose. I would not take it. There could be serious complications, especially if you your system is opiate naive. Don't take it.
Avatar f tn Morphine is stronger than Percocet so I don't see how the morphine didn't help. Every persons body is different so maybe it's the way your body absorbs the meds.
Avatar f tn I would really like to know if anyone has taken morphine in pregnancy and upon giving birth if their baby had with drawls or not AND what dosage PLEASE! I have heard a few moms say they were taking Oxycontin 40mg three times a day with no baby withdrawals, but did not know if morphine was the same. I do go to a pain management place, I am in severe pain, I do not need lecturing, there are times I think about just ending it all just to stop the pain.
1412606 tn?1282882129 Hi Jenny: I have severe chronic pain and I met with a maternal fetal specialist/high risk OB before trying to conceive. I was on morphine, methadone and a few other nerve meds. and I also have a spinal cord stimulator.
Avatar f tn I haven't been on it before, but have had to be on Morphine during an emergency surgery at 33 weeks. It's not ideal, obviously, but the doctors would not allow women to take these medications if they were "unsafe". Of course we wish we didn't have to take them but we dont all have the luxury of a smooth sailing pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I have a pian management doctor do u think he will leave me with no meds or help me thur the pregnancy I'm scared to tell him This discussion is related to pain medication and pregnancy.
