Avatar f tn I am a 41 year old woman who has been recently diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis ( trauma to pancreas). I am otherwise healthy and would like to know what the risks are for pregnant women with my condition. I not yet pregnant but I am considering it. Please help.
Avatar f tn Sometimes, with medications, we have to weigh the benefits of you taking the medication against the risks that it may cause for your baby. Sometimes the benefits outweigh the risks and sometimes the risks outweigh the benefits. Only you, your ob/gyn and your psychiatrist can decide this. I think that you should sit down with your doctors and go through the medication list and decide together what is appropriate for you.
Avatar f tn He was very nice and helpful. He gave me morphine extended release 30mg tables and I need to take those 3x a day. I asked him about pregnancy and this medication. He said that there is always a chance of compilations. He said he has seen several patients that have gotten pregnant on this medication, some have tapered off of it and some continued to stay in this medication.

Avatar f tn I'm 8 weeks pregnant and started bleeding, had an ultrasound and labs done. Ultrasound showed me at 5 weeks. When I was 5 weeks I had a migraine and the er dr gave me morphine even after confirming the pregnancy. Could I be having a miscarriage and could the morphine have caused it? I don't have any pain just bleeding more than spotting.
Avatar f tn I have several chronic pain conditions and have been on heavy duty pain meds for years. I have been weaning off as fast as I can as I was planning on getting pregnant next year sometime. However... life throws you surprises and well here I am. I am on methadone and morphine. I'm down to only 5-10mg of methadone and 15-30mg of morphine daily. I am still having pain and need some amount to make life tolerable. However I know it's horrible for baby! Any tips?

Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed in the past with generalized anxiety disorder and Panic Disorder. I am 20 weeks pregnant and have taken 2 mg of Xanax 3 times a week for as long as I can remember. Doctors tell me the benefits outweigh the risks of taking this medication. But I wan't to do what is right, I don't eat right, I'm self-destructive and I'm incapable of being happy when I'm anxious and without the medication. I also have anxiety attacks weekly without the medication.
Avatar f tn I think you should have a long talk with your psychiatrist about this. Ask them to schedule you for an hour at least to talk in depth about the risks and benefits of different meds. I would guess that the first step would be to try you on something that's reasonably safe in pregnancy, and make sure it's actually keeping you stable.

Avatar f tn I have a nasty sinus infection and both my ears are infected and heavily clogged. The Dr gave me antibiotic (amox) and singulair to take along with Clariton D. I took a 5mg dose of the Singulair but have now read a listing of side effects a mile long. My hands and feet sweaty and I am on edge. I should have read before I took the pill bc now I am worse than I was before. I cant find how long it stays in your system but I do see half life is 2.7-5.5 hrs.
Avatar f tn Food and Drug Administration (FDA) uses a pregnancy category system to classify the possible risks to a fetus when a specific medicine is taken during pregnancy. Pregnancy Category C is given to medicines that show side effects to the fetus in animal studies, but no human studies in pregnant women have been done.
