2042958 tn?1329985977 Women can take supplementary iodine to ward off breast and ovarian cysts and cancer. You might want to find out if you are deficient in iodine.
Avatar n tn Up to 14% of women that have gone through menopause get cysts. There is a wide range of normal for size of ovaries. Ovarian cancer is hard to predict and size of ovaries is not used to do so. But what prompted this question? Are you having issues with your ovaries? Or did you have a concerning exam?
Avatar f tn They can form anywhere in the body. Ovarian cysts (sists) form in or on the ovaries. The most common type of ovarian cyst is a functional cyst. Functional cysts often form during the menstrual cycle. The two types are: Follicle cysts. These cysts form when the sac doesn't break open to release the egg. Then the sac keeps growing. This type of cyst most often goes away in 1 to 3 months. Corpus luteum cysts. These cysts form if the sac doesn't dissolve.
1872158 tn?1320302628 There are some solutions to it, doctors say for females the cysts occur because of our monthly cycle, its never too late to take birth control which is one of the solutions to cysts but it all depends on the person. Cysts can be harmless unless the are reacurring, when it reacures often, you might be at risk for ovarian cancer. Only do the operation IF NECASSARY!!! The medication the doctor is offering would possibly help but if there are a lot of side effects I suggest not taking it.
Avatar f tn After these years, today I went again, to another doctor, because of the same problem and result is almost the same. I have Ovarian Cyst of sized 3,9 cm diameter on the right one, and 5,2 cm on the left one. (I don't know if it recurred or never even disappeared). Endometrium 6mm. Results of my blood test will be ready in a week and I'm a bit nervous about it so please, if you can, give me your suggestions/answers on these questions: 1.
Avatar m tn And who knows, there are probably more besides. Talk to the doctor, not all cysts (even ovarian cysts) form from too much estrogen, or anything of the sort.
408163 tn?1242949501 98% of all ovarian cysts are benign but can cause all the concerns you are having. If the cysts are growing in size and do not disappear as most do monthly, then you might possibly benefit from a scope to remove them and let the doctor have a good look around to see just what is involved in there. Not because I think you have cancer but an gyn/onocologist might be the best for that second opinion. Good Luck and keep us posted. We do care.
Avatar f tn I have anechoic cyst in left ovary, the size is 4.1 cm.Doctor said it's possible to undergo for surgery. Doctor suggested me, need to wait for 2 months. Is it possible to get back normal condition? IS the cyst will get shrink from this size? How should I prevent to make grower? This discussion is related to anechoic cyst.
Avatar m tn My daughter, age 15, had to be rushed to the ER about 4 weeks ago for severe abdominal pain. After hours of tests and ultrasounds, they finally came across a complex cyst 4.5 cm in diameter. The GYN put her on birth control and the unbearable pain seemed to be getting better until yesterday. I know it's not likely, but what are the odds of ovarian cancer in teen? Being a complex cyst really worries me.
Avatar n tn Although it’s not known for sure whether benign ovarian cysts or polycystic ovaries develop into ovarian cancer, the vast majority of ovarian cysts appear to be unrelated. Women who have polycystic ovaries or ovarian cancer seldom have obvious symptoms early on. However, in both disorders, symptoms are noticed as the condition progresses. Because the ovaries are affected on both disorders, the some of the symptoms can be similar.
656838 tn?1224535476 Try not to worry too much - I know - easier said than done...but try to take comfort in knowing that most of the time - a huge percent of the time - ovarian cysts are benign.
Avatar n tn does having hemorragic cysts in menopause increase your chances of having ovarian cancer? They seem to stay on for about 8 months then burst.
Avatar f tn I would be shaking, in a cold sweat, on the floor. During some of the episodes, I would get a deep jolt of pain that would start somewhere in the vagina canal then shoot up into the uterus area. Today, I don't nearly get as bad of periods. BUT, every once in a while, out of nowhere, I would get that same jolt of pain. The pain literally stops me in my tracks, I literally look like something scared me. I don't even have to be on my period when this happens.
Avatar f tn I had a 10x11 cm dermoid cyst, and they removed it the night I went to the ER because of the pain. I still have my ovary. So long as it's just one cyst and there are no signs of something like PCOS, I wouldn't worry about finding one on the left side. Cysts are formed when some part of ovulation goes wrong, so they're actually quite common. Depending on the type, you may simply be able to shrink it away with birth control.
10947 tn?1281404252 Ovarian Cancer is often misdiagnosed, an average of 3 to 12 month delay in diagnosis because people are not aware of the signs and symptoms. The best and only defense against this disease right now is early detection. I believe that everyone with a cyst could be at risk and if we, those that are educated in this beast, are not there to poke and prod and suggest Oncologists or share our stories...than we are doing a disservice to those people. This forum is big enough for everyone.
6758585 tn?1390314001 One of the most effective treatments for ovarian cysts is use of contraceptive pills or progesterone pills. It can also be treated surgically and this procedure is known as drilling. Other modes of treatment are laparoscopic surgery, laparotomy or surgery for complicated ovarian cysts. You can discuss the treatment options with your gynecologist.
Avatar f tn Last month I went to the er because of the pain in my side. At the er they told me I had an ovarian cyst on my right ovary. and to followup with the gyno. I went to see the gyno and he was very rude told me that my cyst was only 2.3cm and not big enough to cause pain, and that I needed to see a gastro. I saw the gastro and since I lost my mom this year to colon cancer, he ordered a ct scan.
367100 tn?1330914725 t cause any symptoms. In fact, corpus luteum cysts appear toward the end of the menstrual cycle, last into early pregnancy, and then usually resolve over a period of time without any special treatment.
Avatar n tn I am just curious (i can not find it anywhere) What is the difference between a dermoid cyst being in the ovary or on the ovary. Are they most often in the ovary? I guess I am a little confused. Also, can dermoid cysts go away on their own? Lastly, I am on birth control. Is it bad or good to continue bc while you have a dermoid ovarian cyst?
Avatar f tn Hello, This mass can be a cyst , benign or malignant mass. Ovarian cysts in post-menopausal women are common but any cysts in a postmenopausal woman should be taken seriously and ovarian cancer should be ruled out by means of CA125 which you have already got done. Ovarian cysts are considered for removal if they cause pain or have tendency to become malignant or there is elevated CA125. Given your history of abdominal swelling, ovarian malignancy can be a possibility.
Avatar n tn No. That is not possible. During intercourse the penis reaches nowhere near where an ovarian cyst would be.
