Metoprolol uses and side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Metoprolol uses and side effects

612551 tn?1450025775 I always sleep on my side, and when I wake I can say what side I had been sleeping on as the other side of my sinus will be stopped... roll over and the stop shifts sides. So whatever is causing the swelling is liquid based and moves to the low energy side prescribed by gravity. It is this sinus stoppage that gives me the suffocating feeling, not a stop of breathing altogether. My wife has trouble sleeping and she said she has never noticed me not breathing when she is awake.
Avatar n tn Known side effects of Coreg include fatigue, sleep disorders, dizzyness, and GI pains. (See for example SK Beecham site on Carvediolol). My wife uses Coreg and suffers from all these side effects. What are good counter measure drugs or non-drug therapies? What are most severve and cautionary drug interactions with Coreg? Thank you.
Avatar n tn any one out there uses metoprolol for blood pressure and heart rate it seems to work but dont like the floating feeling i get
Avatar m tn If you or your doctor wants to raise the HDL faster by using prescription medications, niacin would be the drug to use. It has it's own side effects though and I don't know if it would be compatable with your A-fib. BTW, your A-fib itself might present a greater stroke risk than plague formation. A-fib allows blood to stagnate in the atria and form tiny clots. Those clots can shot straight up through the carotid artery to the brain where they can occlude arteries and cause strokes.
Avatar f tn I had taken Toprolol when much younger and in normal sinus rhythm (then it too was 50mg SR) and it had no side effects that I can recall, I was still running for exercise. You might want to discuss using a calcium channel blocker to lower blood pressure. In all my comments are made with no knowledge of "diovan" and its side-effects. Good luck in finding a way to keep the BP normal, that is an important issue.
Avatar m tn I just took 2nd dose and 2-1/2 hours later feel a bit light headed maybe due to mild headache and lack of fluid intake. This drug has a ton of side effects which scares the crap out of me. One being anxiety which I already have. I'm wondering if there is a natural way to get heart back into shape like completely cut caffeine exercise more stress less or foods perhaps? If anyone has a recommendation I'll for sure look into it. I'm 38 with 4 kids and don't want to be on meds the rest of my life.
Avatar n tn 1st blood test results are: TSH .075, T3 145, Free T4 1.91 3 endo’s, $450 wasted , was rushed out of their office(s) in record 10 mins to be told I am HYPERthyroid, MY ONLY option I-131 RAI. Each endo reluctantly said that for 18-20 months they try, put me on Methimazole 10MG 1X day & Metoprolol 25MG 2x day, I asked what are the prolong side effects of the RAI treatment or the medication. They pulled the ignore and dismiss card on me mighty quick, yet again NO ANSWERS!!!
Avatar m tn but seldom any dizziness as I've been on this BB for a couple of years and my body has adjusted somewhat and lowered the side effects. It also seems that the intended effects/controls are also diminishing, too bad as that means a higher does or new med may be in my future.
503727 tn?1210442710 I just started taking Celexa (again) after 2 years of being off it, and have some of the side effects, dizzyness, major sleep problems, and some nausea. they are slowly going away, but you have to remember that they are more present at the beggining and will soon go away, and then you will start to feel better, it may take a few weeks, to over a month, but just give it a chance.
687079 tn?1230952212 Mine is so much worse in the am when waking up, especially if I roll over and sleep on my side or stomach- go figure??? I also have adrenal issues- high cortisol- but am working on it with acupuncture and adaptogen herbs. It seems to helping alot!! Good luck to you!
Avatar n tn I've been on my period for a couple of days now like 2 days and it usually lasts about 5 days and then it takes a couple of days for the effects to wear off my body after till i am back to normal. I can have these palpitations when i'm not on my period though, do you ever start coughing too like you got a dry throte when you get it? it makes me cough because it makes me feel anxious too.
Avatar n tn I'm on Bupropion 300mg/day and Xanax (0.25 - 0.5mg as needed). Also taking Metoprolol 25mg/day for hypertension. I'd like to ask my doctor to add Fluoxetine to boost my serotonin. Are there any bad side effects from combining these meds?
Avatar n tn Being an RN I'm suspicous of any meds, and even herbal preparations have some bad effects and cause problems or adversely interact with medications. Was awake again at 3 a.m. last night with multiple PACs and PVCs. Probably was getting 12-15 a minute. I'm getting a stress echo Tuesday and then will be back on Atenolol. I've taken three days of Atenolol and not seen any improvement other than I'm so tired I don't seem to care so much about my symptoms. This forum has helped immensely.
Avatar n tn In the US - Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088. In Canada - Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to Health Canada at 1-866-234-2345. PRECAUTIONS: Before taking metoprolol, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to other beta-blockers (e.g., atenolol, propranolol); or if you have any other allergies.
Avatar f tn drugs than Flecanide which is a Class IC medication. Meds such as Metoprolol, a beta blocker, and Propafenone and Rythomol may be other options. From what I read I see a lot of comfort from grandmom being along. I also read the young lady is not taking anything when on the ground/at home. So why all the concern about the flight? Will it be domestic? If it goes to a foreign country it would be good to have a plan, e.g.
Avatar n tn I have been wrongly prescribed medications that caused severe side effects and over time would have wreaked havoc on other organs in my body. I suffered severe withdrawal trying to get off anxiety medications that my doctor prescribed when he couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. Anxiety has become a "catch-all" diagnosis unfortunately. I was diagnosed with P.O.T.S.
Avatar f tn No wonder he’s having some sexual side effects. And it doesn’t help that you’re obviously putting pressure on him to “perform” and “achieve.” These words and concepts contribute to men feeling sex is work. And who wants to work all the time, especially when feeling not up to par? I can’t tell you anything about whether any or all of these drugs are interfering with his sexual response. For that, he needs to see a urologist for thorough testing.
Avatar f tn I am just a patient, but I have been reading uses and side effects of amiodarone/cardavone here: and I wonder if this medication is left forgotten from before the implant of the defibrillator. It seems that it can produce the reduction in EF. The question as already said, is what your doctor says.
Avatar f tn BB seem to be the medication of choice with CCB being used only when there is a symptomatic problem (side-effects) from BB. I an unaware of CCB being used for other reasons. That is, I believe CCB are less effective at controlling/limiting/reducing irregular heart rhythms.
739294 tn?1235693267 My interest remains in the possibility of getting one for AFib in an enlarged left atrium, poor odds at best. On medications and side effects, you say acebutolol and rhythmol give you problems. I have used high dose rhythmol (425 mg twice a day) and it doesn't seem to have any side effects in me, or any benefits either, so I've stopped taking. Beta blockers do have the side effects you mention when I uses them, as I do.
Avatar f tn I just want to say that anyone that goes to a main stream MD and thinks they know the side effects of the drugs they prescribe needs to do some real research. They will, and do Dx the side effects as another disease and then prescibe another. He is now only on 162mg of aspirin, and 25mg metoprolol twice a day. Actually we cut to 12.5 at night and 25mg in the am. What are his side effect from the Metoprolol? Excessive sweating.
405614 tn?1329147714 I think I'm at a low enough dosage that I can just stop taking it, and call my PCP tomorrow and tell her that the side effects are too much and that I want to stop taking it. I couldn't figure out the itching; it started on my legs, then moved to my arms. It will be nice to stop itching, running into walls, losing my balance, and all that. Not to mention the depression that washed over me today and made me write the above post.
Avatar m tn Been on it ever since. Metoprolol - 50 mg 2x daily - This is a beta blocker I was prescribed for my fast heart rate and shortness of breath. It has helped, but certainly hasn't solved the problem. Lorazepam - .5 mg 3x daily - Originally sedated me to an extent, but my tolerance has built up and don't notice much now. I plan to ween off of this soon, but since I am coming off lamictal, my doc said just do one at a time. Seroquel - 25 mg at night for sleep - This is the one I'm worried about.
945116 tn?1265393986 I will say that metoprolol, which is a beta blocker, does have fatigue and exercise intolerance as side effects. Your weight-for-height is also above where it needs to be, which will add to your fatigue. I do recommend attempting to bring your weight down, which will not only help how you feel but will also help your heart. Realize that these are permanent lifestyle changes, and not something that you would be doing for 1 or 6 or even 12 months.
Avatar f tn The searching for words and brain fog are side effects, and being a student these were hard to deal with at school. He also became much more nauseated.
Avatar m tn I do know that Lipitor has the least number of side effects reported and your cholesterol would have to be off the scale for over 40mg to be prescribed. I have familial hypercholesterolemia and 40mg does more than enough. If you have no severe muscle pains, then I doubt if the Lipitor is doing anything else to you.
Avatar m tn All statin drugs (HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors) block the biosynthesis of both cholesterol and CoQ10, which explains their common side effects of fatigue, muscle pain, and a worsening of heart failure. When CoQ10 levels are lowered by statin drug therapy, one of the first changes to occur is a weakening of heart muscle function, known as diastolic dysfunction.
Avatar f tn Methimazole for thyroid and a beta blocker of metoprolol for BP and side effects as well as Triamterene for high BP. I usually take the triam in the morning about 9am, the methimazole with lunch and the metoprolol with dinner. (that one says take with a a meal). and I take my new best friend, phenegran, every 6 hours for nausea. If I continue as I am, I may not need the phenegran today. Thanks for caring Debby.
