443862 tn?1238003039 Is anyone taking metoprolol? It's driving me nuts! I do have anxiety disorder. And of course knowing they gave me this to lower my heart rate makes me nervous. And with my anxiety disorder I am taking my blood pressure every hour. I know that doesn't help. But dealing with the metoprolol, it has dropped me to 88/55 at times, today 112/73, then 93/55 then 142/70. I get hot flashes, shakes, tingling arms, a general feeling of panic when I see my reading is low or I feel the shakes....
Avatar n tn I have suffered from anxiety for many years. Last month I had a 24 hr, halter monitor and the dr. said I had episodes of a fast heart rate. She put me on metoprolol succ er .25 mg once a day. This has helped but I am very anxious about taking meds. When I started the meds I was working in school and didn't think much about it, but now that I am off for the summer, I am a little more anxious and have been having an occasional skipped beat when I am not busy. Could this be a result of anxiety?
Avatar f tn I really feel that the combination of metoprolol and interferon (both of which can contribute to anxiety/depression) has been bad for me and at last feel that some of my old spontaneous self is returning.
Avatar n tn , and I don't feel a blood rush any more. I have been on generic Metoprolol XL 50mg for 1 month, and now 25mg for 1 month. As I said, there were significant side effects, especially on 50mg. The side effects on 25mg seem to be slowly lessening, and they sure beat the nagging, incessant PVC's and tachy.
Avatar f tn I don't like to take pills at all but I am at the point I have to take something for this anxiety because I am barely functioning! I have health anxiety and the PVC's don't help. When I take the Metoprolol it does slow my heart rate so I am afraid if I take the Xanax it's going to slow it even more (heart rate is between 63-75 with med). Please answer as soon as you are able-THANKS.

Avatar m tn What anxiety drugs can I take that do not interact with Warfarin or Metoprolol? I have taken Lorazepam, and while it works quite well, its calming effects are too short lived.
Avatar f tn I also have a mild mitral valve prolapse. I was placed on metoprolol 25mg twice a day for this issue. I only take 25mg in the morning however, my cardiologist is aware and is fine with it. I have been contemplating pregnancy for a while now and wanted to try to wean myself off of the metoprolol so my cardiologist just said that the dose was so small I could just stop taking it. I also have very bad panic disorder.
1577148 tn?1296159773 Hello i have been on Metoprolol 50mg two times a day for a racing heart from anxiety and for high blood pressure.I also take 300mgs diovan for blood pressure, and 20mg paroxetine one time a day for panic attacks. My starting weight was 326 pounds. I have had gastric sleeve surgery on November 20th 2014 and have lost 55 pounds and still losing around 3 pounds a week. my goal weight is 150 pounds. I have noticed that my resting heart rate ( laying down in bed )has slowed down to 59 from 75.
443862 tn?1238003039 And its not Metoprolol that helps anxiety. It's actually Propranolol that treats stage fright and performance anxiety, which is a b2, not a b1 blocker. Just some thoughts.
Avatar m tn 1 mg of Paxil send me to the ER and same for Lexapro, didn't had problem with both drugs before and took them for my anxiety for years. I'm on a high dose of clonazepam 7 mg day, I'm addicted and do a very slow tapering withdrawal... Will take years to get off the clonazepam. I also deal with many panic attacks every day, can't get out th house, can't stay alone, everything trigger heart related symptoms like tachycardia or chest pain, a loud sound, music, too much people's around me...
Avatar m tn Fine the next day except for mild tiredness. ER doctors have diagnosed as either an anxiety attack, or most recently, Vertigo. B.P. is brought back to normal ranges over a 2 or 3 hour period. Could this be related to the Metoprolol? I am somewhat sensitive to other medications. Doctor has also presribed Hydrochlorot, 25 mg, Triam/HCTZ 37.5-25, Amlodipine, 5 mg. Each of these are taken 1 x daily.
Avatar m tn My cousin is a jazz sax player, and takes tiny doses of Metoprolol to control anxiety before performances, and it works for him, but he sure sleeps well after taking the drug. I'd ask your doctor if you could try HCTZ, quit taking beta blockers, buy a blood pressure monitor, and take your BP twice a day, and track it. He/she may have a strong reason to continue taking the medication, but why not ask the question?
1464004 tn?1384139333 If one goes in for an electrophysiology study, they will be told to discontinue Metoprolol (just) 3 days before the procedure as it's quickly removed from the body. So in your case, within 12 hours your original dose of 25mg has been greatly, but not completely metabolized when you take another 25mg. Slowly, you build up a therapeutic level.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone out there was using Metoprolol for their SVT on an as needed basis??? I have SVT and was started out on this drug and took it for a few months. With ok from my doctor I quit taking it. I hadn't had any episodes for about 6 months then I had one last night while I was sleeping. And it was a bad one, the kind where you think your gonna die. :( My doctor had told me that some people can take Metoprolol on an as needed basis. Thanks!
Avatar n tn 5mg 1x a day is considered a low dose). b.) What is the likelihood that metoprolol can be helpful for the aforementioned symptoms, especially in such a low dose? c.) Is 12.5mg minor enough to be able to stop taking fairly easily? Could taking it actually make my conditions worse? Thanks for any considerations and responses.
1717715 tn?1318300895 Hey guys, I take Metoprolol SUCC ER 50 mg once a day for what they THINK is mostly just inappropriate sinus tachycardia and a bit of anxiety that probably grew from that. At normal, my hair was probably the richest and thickest you would have ever seen but now, its getting oily much quicker, and has gotten SEVERELY more thin and light. I'm only 22 and good hair genes runs in my family, its not like im genetically pre-disposed to hair loss. Does anyone think it can be the medication?
Avatar f tn I'm 33 years old and prescibed Metoprolol for my heart palpitations, which happens everytime I eat food. After all cardiac tests came back normal, she mentioned that it may be stress related. I'm now being prescribed 20 mg Celexa for aniexty. I only take 6.25 mg of Metoprolol, cutting it into quarters, but are scared to take the two in combination. There are so many warnings about not mixing them. My heart rate has slowed down with the Celexa, but I still get the pounding sensation.
Avatar m tn I'm 39 yo guy who is not active physically basically because I have plenty of other health problems (fibro, chronic fatigue, severe anxiety).
Avatar n tn My doctor thinks the pvcs originate from the right outflow tract near the pulmonary branch and suggested I take either verapamil or metoprolol (the doctor says it is hit or miss and told me to take what I want.) I am terrified to take anything that could make things worse as I can barely handle my symptoms now. Verapamil can apparently cause asystole, heart block, proarrhythmias.
Avatar f tn She switched me to 100mg ER Metoprolol to take in the morning and 20mg lisinopril for the night. I had to take my bp every day and went back every week. Every week it would be high at the dr Office and she would increase the lisinopril. Mind you, I didn't take prescription anything prior to this except maybe an antibiotic when needed. Now I'm on these high doses of bp meds. Initially I thought well I'll get used to them, there's always an adjustment time.
Avatar n tn I was put on 25 mg Metoprolol (12.5mg 2x per day) on April 4, 2012 for a multicfocal atrial tachycardia event (lasted a day). Echocardiogram showed that my heart is in great shape. All was finew/ the Metoprolol (no side effects) until late July when I started losing LOTS of hair (300-400 hairs per shampooing; "normal" shedding of 75-125 when not shampooing) and now my previously thick, shiny hair is thinning rapidly and dull.
Avatar f tn I was on lexapro before being pregnant along with metoprolol for high heart rate. They took me off everything cold turkey. I was pissed because they didn't replace it with something safe. I was fine for a month without anything but now my anxiety is increasing.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your prompt answer, I'm having anxiety right now because I'm afraid I'm going to have a heart attack in the movie theater hahah.
612551 tn?1450025775 Following are my observations on day two of substituting Atenolol 25 mg twice a day for Metoprolol 25 mg twice a day.. both are regular, for Metoprolol it is called Tartrate, I think the Atenolol comes in only one normally longer lasting form. Today in the early afternoon, following my third 25 mg dose of Atenolol at about 9 AM, I noticed some dizziness when I rose from a time sitting.
Avatar m tn trace mitral and tricuspid inefficiency, EF 53%, borderline global hypokinesis (my left ventricular motion is borderline reduced, but structurally normal). Overall, the doctor said I was fine but hypertensive, so he put me on 10mg of Ramipril for my BP. Recently, I've had continued issues with anxiety during exercise and palpitations. So I was told to come in for another stress test. I took it and they saw ST depressions.

Avatar f tn I am 37 yr old female. I do have anxiety and am on medicine for that, but my cardiologist put me on metoprolol, a very low dose, trying to help with my heart rate palpitations. I took my 1/2 pill of metoprolol 2 days ago and felt weird, which could have been just nervous bc I was scared of what it would do to my heart rate. My heart rate really hasn't been too high here lately so that's why I was concerned.
