methadone edema

I have never been on suboxone, but methadone made me retain fluid like crazy. I have been off methadone for over a week, and I've lost 10 lbs of fluid. My feet and ankles used to be swollen all the time, and painful, and now they are skinny again! I am 40, and otherwise healthy with no heart or health problems. The only meds I take are effexor for depression, and synthroid that I've taken for 15 years pre addiction.

t know if it is related, but I experienced edema of my calves down through my toes since I started taking the Methadone/Oxycodone combination. I tried taking Lasix to reduce the edema but the swelling wouldn't subside. You may want to ask your doctor to talk to his PMP or PCP regarding the edema to ensure that it is not a symptom of a possible illness (I haven't yet). I would hate to bare false attribution and have someone else suffer as a result of my ignorance.

I had to get on methadone and then allllll of this started. I gained approximatley 100 pounds. But since it happend at once, i am not sure if it was bc of the meth or the pregnancy. Anyways, the weight never really came off since i gave birth and i have severe pitting edema in my lower legs for the past 2 years now and no one is doing anything about it. It is extremely painful, i can hardly walk now, i am like a cripple. i keep trying to lose weight, nothing happens.

Thought I had herniated disk again. Finally found hydromyelia in middle of back. Only think that helps is ibprofin and ice and my methadone. They have checked me for MS and ALS. I just had another MRI with contrast. Could this be from my lumbar surgery? I have DDD which I know common with back issues. I also know that my breathing issues are Probaby from smoking. At what point do they take this more seriously.

I also take hydrocodone 10/325 for break thru pain and 70 mg of methadone for pain. Didrex to help lose weight. Currently I am enrolled in a program to have weight loss surgery. However, my thyroid is not regular so until my synthroid starts working & my thyroid is regular for six months the surgeon will not perfom the WLS. Please help! I am a widow & raising my 16 year old daughter. We have NO family, no grandparents, no cousins no aunts no uncles. Please help! Thank you!

I started gaining weight when I broke my foot and started taking Methadone. I started retaining fluid also. I gained 35 lbs. in 6 mos. I had pitted edema in my legs and feet and I could really tell in my upper stomach. Test were run, no prognosis, just gave me lasix. That weight stayed with me and the fluid has come and gone, better with my feet propped. Now this year, in the past month and a half, I have gained an excess amount of fluid. I went from 190 to 22? with about 2-3 weeks.

Sorry Mellie, My methadone was a typo. I read morphine and thought morphine and typed methadone. Please forgive my stupid fingers!! In my experience I have seen one sided edema. Admittedly it's not as common as bilateral edema but in the same breath it is not rare. You also have some underlying condition or yes the take out food could be responsible. It is notoriously laden with sodium. There shouldn't be much if any withdrawal symptoms as you are going from one narcotic to another.

This allows ppl to get their sh*t together without the constant hassle of obtaining and doing pills.. Methadone as a full agonist will still invite cravings, just not as often due to its long half life. This is where suboxone differs, used properly there is no high as its partial agonist feature and its affinity for the mu receptor is quite low, however it binds to all receptors very tightly which prevents other opiates from working in combination whether its suboxone or subutex...

Hi, Carla. I am so sorry that you and your friend are having a stressful time right now. A couple of questions: did she take heroin before? Is that why she's on methadone? She is on a methadone program, right? I agree with everyone, she's in a dangerous situation if she's adding heroin to the mix. It's awful to say this, but she'd be safer taking one or the other, not both.

Any women have problems with edema AFTER delivery? What about issues with a low heart rate and high or elevated BP?

I have had rt thigh, calf and hip edema since 1/14. It came on out of nowhere. No injury. Neg for DVT, neg MRI for mass, neg mass on abdominal CT scan. Multiple hypodense, Ill defined nodules were identified on spleen and a few on liver. CT scan of chest identified multiple hilar lymphadenopathy. This prompted bx. Dx: Sarcoidosis. Had 2 unsuccessful rounds of prednisone. Now getting Remicade tx. I feel better overall, but the edema Has not changed.

i also had/have edema in feet ankles, and lower legs. she had me do toe, foot, and ankle exercises to move the edema along. edema is a passive disorder that requires muscle contraction to circulate the trapped lymph. the swelling is tx related, because it limits your mobility. walk and exercise.

t really needed, but now the area of edema has a pinkish appearance to it. The edema is in both lower legs and ankles, but not so much my feet. I can't tell whether or not its better in the morning or not, so do you have any ideas for us?

3 months after these tests, I started having bi lateral edema in both lower legs/ankles, but not so much my feet. I went to my GP was ran CBC, CMP, Liver panel, and BNP test. He was no longer concerned. I then went to another cardiologist for 2nd opinion, he did another echo and again the EF was 61%. I then saw a 2nd GP for a fresh opinion about the edema and he wasn't concerned either, after the normal blood tests.

Does edema from hepatitis happen on both feet or can it happen with just one foot? My right foot is swollen with no obvious sign of injury.

I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism and I am wondering if anyone has this symptom. How do you deal with edema? I have swollen ankles that won't respond to anything. Even Lasix prescription is not helping. Compression socks and elevating legs help only minimally. Any tips or suggestions? What's worked best for you? Please help!

I have had CFS for years, but now am experiencing edema in hands, feet, belly and around eyes. It is worst in the morning. Is there any connection between CFS and edema?

His last doses of Neurontin were yesterday because he has again developed the same edema but now it has extended to calves of both legs. The edema has not subsided, in fact, it is somewhat worse. I have had edema in both legs for over 3 months. my Dr. ran all the test and says nothing is abnormal except my previous thyroid test was in the 300's and the new test is in the 700's. she upped my synthroid from 50 to 75mg could this be the cause of the edema a under medicated thyroid? if it is about how long does it take to regulate my body so the swelling goes away.please help i am so tired of fat feet and knees.
