Avatar n tn Thanks. I don't work and my husband was unemployed for 2 yrs. and we went thru our 401k and maxed credit cards. Now that he has a job we probably won't qualify, but I will definitely check out this possibility. I feel guilty considering we now have an income, but on the edge of bankruptcy... Who isn't now? Thanks for the info!
761423 tn?1237203290 Tried the usual things like Ibuprofen and Tylenol, etc. which was temporary. Finally last month my doctor started me on Lyrica. Although the pain is diminished quite a bit, I feel like I am in a fog most of the time and it does nothing for my other symptoms, like depression/mood swings/etc. I have a mood disorder as well, which she referred me to a psych for. My question is, she said if the Lyrica didn't work or what have you, that she was going to try Cymbalta next.

Avatar m tn Also, when I received my venomous bite that also sliced through my hand breaking it and slicing through nerves and tendons, the hand specialist recommended Lyrica. I actually tried it a few days ago and it it awesome at just 50 MG 2 times a day. No more pain and I sleep like a baby. It acts directly on nerves by mimicking nerve fluid and calms them. The nerves control muscles, so it calms them too. It also helps with anxiety. So I guess there are non-narcotic ways to control pain.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am sorry to hear about your pain. I began my struggle with pain when I was 17 as well, so I know what you are going through. What if anything has the doctors offered you for pain relief? Have you tried physical therapy or any exercise programs? When I was 17 I was just given Ibuprofen and that of course didn't do anything. You may want to ask for Lyrica or Neurontin in addition to some PT. That seems to be very helpful for Fibromyalgia and Lyrica is approved for Fibro.
Avatar f tn I was on percocet lyrica and cymbalta. Once the nerve damage got better I stopped the lyrica and cymbalta. After going back to work after surgery, I was afraid of taking percocet (im a teacher) so the dr gave me tramadol. 2 weeks ago I had steroidal injections in my pelvis and asked for something stronger because the tramadol wasnt working. I only take the vicodin at night, but it doesnt get rid of the pain.
Avatar f tn If Lyrica worked for you, then start the fight with the insurance company. Either find a doctor that will write you the letter for it, or talk with your doctor about the fact that it worked, and you need his help for recommendation. Insurance companies suck for this, but I have fought with mine countless times for medication, and they usually give in. Dont give up! I would ask your doctor why he wouldn't recommend the medication if it was working?
1378325 tn?1285346625 Have you tried the fibro meds like Lyrica, Cymbalta or Savella? I have had a lot of relief from Lyrica and did not sleep well until I started it. D-Ribose (only when I remember to take it) really helps. An excellent multi-vitamin, vitamin D, C0Q10, selenium and fish oil may also help. Not sure what pain relievers you have tried but do be aware that Tramadol doesn't work for everyone. It does nothing for me. I take ibuprofen and Tylenol 3's as needed. I hope you find some relief.
Avatar f tn Nothing of significance in the area I am experiencing pain/discomfort. Lyrica has helped but hast taken away the burning/pinching. Ibuprofen/muscle relaxers only occasionally help. Any ideas out there?
Avatar n tn Both vicodin and norco can cause anxiety, however the itch is unlikely to be due to these medications. Synthyroid can cause itch. Lyrica and Trazodone can cause anxiety and hypersensitivity reactions including itch. Please try and talk to your doctor as soon as possible. Keep an anti-allergic medication handy. If the symptoms worsen, please go to the ER. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
Avatar m tn I have been on Lyrica and Cymbalta for the fibromyalgia and that has helped my pain level somewhat. I also take Zanaflex (a muscle relaxer) to help with sleep, pain and the back tension. When was your last MRI? I would try to have a recent one to rule out future degeneration. I am in constant pain but when I experience a flare up of my fibromyalgia; it intensifies the pain ten fold. I wish you luck and in the absence of medication I would try to take ibuprofen. Good luck.
Avatar n tn You can also take over-the-counter pain medicines, such as acetaminophen, aspirin, or ibuprofen, to help reduce pain during an attack of shingles and antibiotics to prevent any infection. Please consult a dermatologist and get them prescribed. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar n tn Deb, ask your doctor about Lyrica. I did and feel so much better. I was very skeptical about this medication at first. However, I said to my doctor, if we are gonna put me on this, we need to take away medications. Also I made mention about needing a longer acting muscle relaxer. So he put me on Lyrica and Armix longer acting muscle relaxer. We took away, Cymbalta,Tizanidine, Celebrex.
965215 tn?1274955173 I have been taking nsaids for along time now. and nothing has helped. I have also used Voltaren gel, Lyrica, topamax nothing has helped the pain I am having in my wrist.
Avatar f tn Did not help this time. Ibuprofen helps a little but not for long. I also have pain in ear and behind left eye. Please help if you can. I have no insurance and cant see a Doc. for something that is more than likely nothing.
Avatar f tn so i just had some crazy reaction, but i'm not sure why. i was cooking dinner for my bf, and i guess i felt itchy but didn't think anything of it - i did notice that my one hand was itchy cuz i kept scratching at it. anyway after i happened to look in a mirror and my face was COVERED in hives, as was my neck, and pretty soon my chest and arms. the ones on my arms were especially strange and painful. had to take two benedryl before they would start to go down. then my arms went numb.
Avatar m tn This was an excellent choice, as it helps with my anxiety, I use less clonazepam and I feel less drowsy. Lyrica did give me blurred vision and extra paranoia at the start, and that was indeed awful for the first couple weeks as I upped my dosage! After the initial troubles, I found that it really was better than gabapentin for me now. I have not gained weight, but remain the same weight I call my meds weight. I just try to remain active and not pig out.
Avatar f tn Once I quit taking all the narcotic pain meds and all the withdrawl stuff was over, I was able to take over the counter meds to control my pain. I did also take Lyrica and it worked great for me. I applaud your efforts!!! You are doing the right thing.
Avatar f tn The medications I take for FM are Cymbalta (I also have depression) and Zanaflex. I also take ibuprofen and Lorcet plus, but the Lorcet plus I usually use for chronic headaches-which may/may not be related to FM.
Avatar f tn Hi I have a massive period ache , therefore I took 1100 mg of ibuprofen . At first I had taken 500 mg tablet but it's been an hour and a half and it did not help , so I took an other tablet of ibuprofen of 600 mg . The pain is gone but I feel very tired , can I be harmed or die out of it ? Should I ask for help ? Or has anybody been familiar with it ? Please help me , I am a hypochondriac person and I also have OCD and use Prozac .
Avatar f tn I took tylenol this morning. I took Ibuprofen an hour ago . I coudnnt take it anymore. It was a one time thing and i feel so much better. Will my baby be okay?
Avatar m tn whenever i take even one 550mg (naproxen) ibuprofen and then drink, my stomach gets tender and bloated and i feel bad. i usually take a maalox or something like that, yet i never throw up from it so i don't know if that's applicable for you. i think it is due to the ibuprofen, but if you're not used to eating spicy foods then it could have disagreed with you, not necessarily meaning food poisoning. you should never drink and take NSAIDs at the same time.
3122657 tn?1357432602 Ibuprofen is bad for our livers. Try getting a massage if you can. Bromelian, a natural supplement made from pineapples helps reduce swelling but it takes time to work. Also, make sure you're drinking lots of water, and getting some exercise. Try some yoga too. Pot brownies worked the best for my back pain.
Avatar f tn I have a infected broke off wisdom tooth during my last pregnancy my face swelled up and I was out of Tylenol so I took a 800 mg ibuprofen. Bad call for me but I was in pain and it was only once and everything turned out fine with baby so I was lucky.
