I have severe pain in my jaw and it is difficult to close my mouth without tension/pain. It sends stabbing pain both in my jaw and ear at night. I also have a lump on the jaw joint near my ear!!! I has been going on since begining of september.I wake up screaming. It is like some stabbed me with a long knitting needle after held over a flame!!!!!!

I have just found a lump on my lower jaw, underneath my ear right at the jaw joint. It is approximately the size of half of a grape. It definitely feels attached to my jaw feels like s grape- not too hard or soft. It is slightly uncomfortable when felt. Any ideas of what this might be? I am going to go ahead see an ENT- but I have month and a half before I could get in. Just a little concerned. Thank you for any help!

You have mentioned of a lump in the area where you feel the pain. Would you have any idea which came first, the lump or the pain?
At this point, let us focus on the lump. I suggest that you have this assessed by your primary physician for any redness, warmth, and discoloration. A complete physical examination will also be able to help rule out an underlying skin or musculoskeletal disorder.
I have a lump on my jaw just below my ear lobe. It doesn't hurt just looks like I have a gland swollen. Does anyone have any suggestions to what this might be??? I have an appointment next week to have a CT scan done but was wanting to maybe find some ideas before I have it done.
I also have a swollen lump below my jaw in the right side - it may not be a lymph node - it is possible that it is your submandibular salivary gland. Check with your dentist - they know the anatomy of your mouth and jaw area. Typically the submandibular gland will swell without any pain, whereas swollen lymph nodes typically do exhibit pain of some sort.
For the past five days I have had a lump below my ear in the area where the jaw hinge is. It's smaller than a marble, but painful to the touch. It's hard to tell if I can move it or not. Last week I had a bad spell of vertigo which I've never had before. I went to the doctor, but didn't have the lump at the time. The lump is on the same side as the positional vertigo ear. Hi i had surgery on my jaw (temporomandbularjoint) over a year ago.. The last few days my scar just in my hair line has got a lump an my husband said its red an its quite delicate to touch.. Should i see my dr or is this normal?
He fit me for a temporary mouth guard which is very awkward to sleep so I only tried it for 2 nights. Today I saw a new ENT. She said the lump was my jaw joint. She thought it sounded like a muscle or joint issue I was experiencing and suggested a different type of mouth guard. I also had a salivary gland biopsy (most painful thing ever) to rule out Sjogren's. One parotid duct did not seem to be producing any saliva. So I guess I am at the wait and see point.
Had a sore throat now for 6-7 weeks, severely red throat with a blister like lump at the back of it glands have been very painful also my jaw, I've had a funny taste in my mouth and tingling weird sensation in my tongue. Also my lymph node under my left arm has been hurting as well as intermittent chest pains. Also had muscle ache and joint pain.
Had glandular fever test came back negative, had in depth blood test which showed nothing.
Hi there, for me it started when i lose my voice (not competely) but no pain in the throat area. then area around my left jaw joint area (below the ear) starts to feel uncomfortable especially every time i moved my jaw or open my mouth wide to eat something. i dont have toothache etc. then i start to have running nose and nose block. i went to see a GP, he say there is slight infection in the ear and nose. i was on medication for 6 days.
No pain or change in size for at least 20 years. I found it years ago when massaging a sore jaw joint. It sort of feels like it's in a tendon and in front of the Tragus.

I have a movable, rubbery, FLAT smaller than a pea (1/2 pea) sized lump in (upper) front of my right ear and right on the area where you feel your jaw open when opening mouth wide. i have had alot of problems over the last couple of months and ill fully explain firstly i have been having alot of pains in my joints (arms, shoulders,neck,toes ankles and knees) then theres the mouth problems i have a hard lump on my loer gum under my tongue behind my front teeth my tongue is coated white and yellow and i have a small red spot on tongue im going to mention the neck pain again becuse it is really bad down one side and my jaw hurts too any ideas would mean allot ?
Hello, I also have a lump (size of a pea) on the left side of my jaw. It doesn't hurt, and I realized I had it about 3 days ago. The pea doesn't move and is situated just bellow my 5th tooth, in the middle of the jaw, not looking down, but looking sidewards. You need to press to feel it, otherwise the skin masks it. I do not have a cold, or any other symptôme.
I am wondering what to do. Go to a doctor, but maybe he/she will have no clue.

I have had pain in the left joint of my jaw for years now. As far as I can remember I have not been knocked in that area. The area of pain can stretch from the lower jaw area right up to my ear and can even give me neck pain. I was diagnosed with a multi-nodular gointer in november '08. I had noticed a lump on my throat of r a very long time and my primary doctor never mentioned anything about it.
