5856747 tn?1403352282 Irregular Menstrual Periods. Most women of child bearing age have between 10 and 12 menstrual cycles every year. This may be considered the “normal” but that is not to say that it has to be the normal for you. You may have only 6 to 8 periods per year and that is your “normal” and should be nothing to worry about. It is just how you are.

Avatar n tn Now I am worried that something might be wrong. My menstrual cycle used to be very regular- at least 28-29 days long and my periods usually lasted 5-7 days but my last few periods have only been 2-3 days long. What could cause this to happen? Could this mean that I have an ovarian cyst? Or could it be something that causes infertility?
Avatar n tn Is it possible to have missed periods while taking Tramadol for a long period of time? I have taken it for about 5 months now and my period had come regularly, but now I have missed a period and have already taken a pregnancy test, which turned out negative. Avatar f tn Hello, High level of stress, cholesterol, hormonal imbalance, chain smoking, dramatic changes in your life style may be some of the common causes of you irregular periods. If this was the first episode of irregularity in the periods, then wait for the coming cycle and try lifestyle modification by reducing stress and decreasing cholesterol levels.
Avatar n tn As ovulation becomes irregular, your ability to conceive decreases. However, as long as you're having periods, pregnancy remains a possibility. If that's not what you want, use birth control until you've had no periods for 12 months. Changes in sexual function. During perimenopause, sexual arousal and desire may change. But for most women who had satisfactory sexual intimacy before menopause, this will continue through perimenopause and beyond. Loss of bone.
Avatar n tn I am 48 y.o. I have never been exactly regular with my periods, however, have not had any difficulty having children. I would go sometimes 65 days without menustrating. If 66 days had passed, I figured I was pregnant, and was usually right. I had 4 healthy pregnancies. However, this is not my problem. Now, at my age, I am constantly getting my period. I have never felt worse during them. I usually do not make it passed 2 weeks before I start again.
1142551 tn?1264740530 This entry caught my attention since I have had long periods of time where I have missed my menstrual cycle. I thought or questioned the same as you, if it could be related to the MS. My neurologist (also an expert in MS) told me that it wasn't. At least he believed it wasn't in my case. It was a while ago so I don't recall all the details of the discussion. He deduced it was from all my athletics - which had caused woman to have their periods temporarily stop.

Avatar f tn This anemia can cause heavy or prolonged period. However, other causes of prolonged periods should be investigated before this conclusion is reached. A prolonged bleeding of any kind from the vagina can be due to a sore or ulcer in vagina as you see in Herpes or otherwise, endometritis or infection of endometrium of uterus, cervicitis or infection of cervix, fibroids, vaginal infections, vaginal polyp, endometriosis and cancer of either cervix, uterus or ovary.
Avatar f tn Normally the period stays for 3-7 days and comes in 21 to 35 days. However sometimes normal periods can be irregular. The causes of menorrhagia could be due to bleeding disorders, vitamin K deficiency, excess usage of aspirin, hormonal imbalance, stress, fibroids, recent intra uterine devices (like copper-T)etc. So I will like to advise for internal examination with gynecologist and take opinion.
Avatar f tn Hello, Would like to ask how big is my risk of getting hepatitis B(or even C) from fingering. What scares me most is the fact that girl had periods and there were some menstrual blood. Because I was quite drunk I can't remember if I had some cuts and wound in my hands. I had my HIV test 3 months after this and it was negative. Im not sure if this is because fears but I have lost weight(I have eaten normally) and I have cold chills and night sweats. This whole situation is making me very tired.
736040 tn?1257440057 I am 36 years old and have missed 4-5 months of menstrual cycles. I have Hashimotos Hypothyroid and Fibromyalgia. So far all of my hormone tests have come up normal. Can anyone tell me how that is possible??
1395422 tn?1308019851 The average woman experiencing a normal menstrual period has low-pressure contractions, 15-30 second long, with 1-4 contractions per minute. A woman with menstrual cramps has contractions of a higher pressure (sometimes more than 5 times higher than her counterpart), over 90 seconds long, and often less than 15 seconds apart.
228463 tn?1216765121 I have never had bad periods. The one I had recently was like not there. Didn't last long and had no warning of it. I usually get cramps few days to a week before I start. So was surprised. I find that my periods come when they want to. I use to be able to know about when they'd come, but as I've gotten older they've changed.
Avatar n tn I also want to add that my EP doctor told me that stress, GI disturbances, menstrual cycles, certain foods, alcohol, caffeine, tobacco, etc are TRIGGERS not CAUSES of this problem. Sometimes it's difficult for them to find the CAUSE. Mine happens to be in my pulmonary vein. No easy treatment, involves open heart surgery with high risk as it's a new procedure.

Avatar n tn For the last 2 years, I have been in and out of the OBGYN office with cyclic menstrual bleeding averaging every 25-28 days like a menstrual period. The bleeding is very minimal - initially bright red and almost clot-like for a day then tapers off to a brownish stringy discharge(2 days). I even experience some light cramping although nothing like prior to my hysterctomy.
Avatar n tn Hi, I am 39 years old with a 13 year old son who has severe special needs and a perfectly healthy 3.5 year old girl. My son was born to my first husband (ended in divorce) and my daughter to my second husband. After I remarried I became pregnant in Oct. 1998 and had a missed miscarriage in Jan 1999. I ended up having a D&C as the tissue just wouldn't pass. I became pregnant again in May of 2000 only to miscarry again in July of 2000. This pregnancy miscarried naturally.
Avatar f tn Hello, There are many causes of long and light periods. The common causes are hormonal imbalances, PID, uterine fibroids, endometrial polyps, endometrial cancer, cervical polyps etc. Treatment depends on the diagnosis. Most cases of prolonged and continuous menstrual bleeding are due to hormonal fluctuations which can be addressed by diet and exercise. It is best to consult a medical professional and get evaluated. I hope it helps. Best luck and regards!
Avatar f tn It has been very heavy and she is also passing clots. What could this be? She has always had heavy periods but they have never lasted this long - with no let up yet.
Avatar n tn You should see an ob/gyn to be evaluated for the above, as well as for other potential causes of irregular periods including an elevated prolactin level, abnormal thyroid hormone, potential pregnancy, uterine polyps, and due to your age, many would perform an endometrial biopsy in the office to assess for tissue overgrowth (hyperplasia) or abnormal tissue (atypia or cancer).

Are there any other ways to help avoid future silent strokes? 8)In the future, when I fill out medical forms, do I indicate that I have had a stroke? Or not? Are silent strokes considered actual strokes?
