Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in early stage. Right now I am talking Lialda 1.2 mg 3 tablets once a day. The above symptoms have totally vanished. But literally I am not eating any spicy food or fibre food. I want to know the diet plan.I really lost weight. I have a new problem past 2 weeks. Every morning around 6.30 am or so i have a contracting pain in my lower left ribs. It's very stabbing and also I have lower back pain.
Avatar m tn I am 21 yrs old and have had ulcerative colitis for the past 10 yrs. I am currently taking lialda 2 capsules twice a day. I basically stopped taking the lialda because it made me feel worse than I already was. My question is is there a reason why the lialda makes me have pain in my gut. Are there any other new meds out there of UC? Are there any new surgeries to cure UC?
277836 tn?1359666174 I am taking the prednisone for ulcerative colitis all biopsys were negative for it but he sent blood work off and it came back positive for uc it was some kind of antibody test

Avatar m tn I really do believe that the celbrex caused you to have the bowel obstructions as with me it caused me to lose the lining of my stomach and also a huge flare up of ulcerative colitis which as soon as my own doctor the visited me i was rushed in and he told me i should never even of been given them..Anyway just be careful what you take. Your new doctor was absolutely right to take you off celebrex. Maybe you could ask about etoricoxib even though you have crohns and not colitis..good luck.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am a 47 year old male, diagnosed with ulcerative colitis when I was 26. Over the past couple of years, I have noticed on occasion that I will have white streaks in my stool. Most of it is a normal color, just with white streaks embedded. Not mucus-y. I've noticed it quite a bit the past couple of weeks. I was on Asacol for many years, but my new insurance company made we switch to Lialda a couple of months ago (three 1.2GM tablets 1x daily).
Avatar f tn This needs a comprehensive investigation including blood tests. Consult a doctor please (who is treating ulcerative colitis) and a gynecologist too. Take care!
Avatar m tn I wouldn't take the asacol. It actually caused my UC to flare up every time I took it. I thought it was a coincidence the first few times. However there's no doubt that Asacol exacerbates my condition. I have also developed joint problems which I think may be because of all the asacol I've taken in my life. I wouldn't recommend it. Ask your doctor about Lialda or better yet improve your diet. I'm not talking about just eating right.
Avatar n tn m now back home, taking prednisone (which they are slowly tapering off), Lialda and enemas. I also developed a deep vein clot and am on coumadin to heal. I guess I'm simply looking for some wisdom and encouraging words. I lost 20 pounds over the last month while being sick, am now anemic and quite weak. I do see very tiny improvements each day and I realize this is going to be a long haul back to health.
Avatar n tn I started taking Lialda in August, 2008, and took it (3-1g tabs once per day) for 5 months before I got better. However, I am not sure whether to credit the Lialda or the Flora-Q I began taking after three months into my treatment. I have lymphocytic colitis so this may not pertain directly to your diagnosis, but I hope it helps.
483733 tn?1326798446 I just find it frustrating. There is a big difference between someone with Crohn's or Colitis and GERD. Thanks for the info on the Crohn's community but I am an ulcerative colitis survivor and my son is now having active disease and really need support in that area. It would be helpful if we could even divide the forum between intestinal issues and non-instestinal.
643805 tn?1243968843 im 26 and ive just been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and an ilius do they make either worse and im always in terrible pain in my stomach and still have blood in my stool so is ther any type of surgery that can correct my ilius?
Avatar n tn I would NOT recommend you start smoking again as there are many other diseases and cancers caused by smoking. I also had ulcerative colitis, and I never smoked. You can read more about it in my blog.
Avatar f tn Inflammatory diseases of the colon which can present as UC include Crohn’s disease, ischemic colitis, radiation colitis, eosinophilic colitis, colorectal cancer, irritable bowel syndrome, and allergic reactions to medications such as mesalamine products, NSAIDs, and antibiotics.
709277 tn?1229116708 Sister has the ulcerative colitis, and ankylosing spondylitis. I have HLAB27 but other stuff going on with muscles sore, rash, fever, swelling of them various places. Bone aches No Sjrogens, no lupus, no lyme.
Avatar m tn They repeated the colonoscopy and again turned up focal active colitis. The doctor there has been treating me with Lialda and Entocort. The number of bathroom trips has decreased to about 5-6 a day, and things are much more 'solid'. However, the pain is steadily getting worse. It's mostly left side, from under my ribcage down to above my hip. I get it on the upper right side as well, but generally not as severe. I would appreciate any insight you might have on this.
Avatar f tn I suffer from ulcerative colitis and now diagnosed with superficial bladder cancer (Ta, low grade). My bladder was perforated during tumor removal (TURBT) resulting in colitis flare up and bowels shutting down after exposure to leakage. Now offered biological therapy (BCG) treatment and worried that the expected stimulated immune response will trigger another colitis "attack". Thank you.
Avatar m tn I have been suffering from chronic ulcerative colitis (UC) over the last twenty years. I’m in control of it and lead almost a normal life. I’m currently on 3 grams of Rafassal (Mesalazine) and 200 mg of Imuran (Azathioprine). My last colonoscopy revealed multiple areas suspicious of low grade dysplasia (LGD) in sigmoid colon and recotoanal junction. There is also doubt they might be high grade dysplasia (HGD). My doctor advised that these LGDs be removed.
Avatar m tn s no known cure for ulcerative colitis, but therapies are available that may dramatically reduce the signs and symptoms of ulcerative colitis and even bring about a long-term remission. Organizations such as the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America have chapters across the country to provide information and access to support groups. You can check with your doctor and join these groups. Regards.
Avatar f tn So, ulcerative colitis can cause that. It's most likely pus if it is yellow. To me this sounds like complications of your IBS or ulcerative colitis. Have you started the medication yet? Is it helping?
Avatar m tn Also, irritable bowel conditions like IBS, Crohn’s ulcerative colitis and celiac disease, which can cause similar symptoms can cause bleeding into the gut which is not visible to naked eye. So, an occult stool test should be done apart from stool routine and microscopic for ova and cysts of parasites. If these tests are not conclusive, then you may need a colonoscopy to rule out a colon condition like colitis, ulcerative colitis etc.
Avatar n tn I was told before that they "think" that I have ulcerative colitis. I was put on medication. But after it stopped helping, I stopped taking it, and I was fine. Then just recently I have been feeling horrible. Stomach pain, mostly on the right lower region, gas, bloating, nausea, fatigue, and sometimes stabbing pain in my right lower abdomen. I am not pregnant ( that I know of, I have an IUD) And this has been going on for 3 weeks, non stop.
Avatar n tn 2 1/2 weeks ago, i went to hostptial and had a flexible sigmoidoscopy, which was very painfull and embarrasing, and i am still waiting of the results, as the consultant took a whole load of biopsies. to this day i am still in pain with my stomach and suffering terrible diahrea, to a point when i have neva had so much diahrea in all me life, could this be IBS or the irratable bowel diseaese ???
