Avatar m tn I am currently taking lialda 2 capsules twice a day. I basically stopped taking the lialda because it made me feel worse than I already was. My question is is there a reason why the lialda makes me have pain in my gut. Are there any other new meds out there of UC? Are there any new surgeries to cure UC?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in early stage. Right now I am talking Lialda 1.2 mg 3 tablets once a day. The above symptoms have totally vanished. Every morning around 6.30 am or so i have a contracting pain in my lower left ribs. It's very stabbing and also I have lower back pain.

Avatar f tn Hello, I am a 47 year old male, diagnosed with ulcerative colitis when I was 26. Over the past couple of years, I have noticed on occasion that I will have white streaks in my stool. Most of it is a normal color, just with white streaks embedded. Not mucus-y. I've noticed it quite a bit the past couple of weeks. I was on Asacol for many years, but my new insurance company made we switch to Lialda a couple of months ago (three 1.2GM tablets 1x daily).
Avatar m tn I have just started taking Lialda. I previously took Asacol. I enjoy the Lialda because I was taking 3 pills three times a day with Asacol and now I only take 4 pills once a day with Lialda. I haven't been on the Lialda for very long, but so far the results are good. I'm not sure that it is better than Asacol, but I think it is easier and equal in performance. You might ask your doctor if they have any prescription cards for Lialda.

Avatar m tn I have ulcerative colitis for a few years, I been in hospital a couple of times but the last time i was in it was due to the pain killing drug meloxicam for joint pain. I am almost sure celelbrex is in the same family, so to speak, as meloxicam.. I ended up losing the lining of my stomach. I had had a problem with anti flams for a while and i new i couldnt take celebrex as i had terrible cramps in my stomach.
Avatar f tn I have had for several days now facial pain more on the right side and traveling pain throughtout my body. I wake up feeling great and as the day progresses I start to feel run down, fatigue, my face starts to hurt, my lips hurt sometimes, then my head will start to hurt like it feels like its burning inside, travels in my toes, fingers, arms, legs, feet, hands and this will last for hours. Then I will be fine for a while and then it will start all over again. I do have UC as well.
Avatar f tn My 16y/o daughter has UC. Has been on Lialda 2.4 g/day for 6 months. She was on prednisone for the first 4 months of the same time period. Has had significant hair loss for the last 5 months. Cortisol AM is normal. My duaghter also has ITP and is considered chronic, it usually manifests during a UC flare up. Is the Lialda a possible culprit.
Avatar f tn I was put on lialda when I started having an alergic reaction to sulpha drugs. I main question is that I now have a bad taste in my mouth. Is this from the lialda?
Avatar f tn Has anyone else experienced weight gain around the stomach while on Lialda? I've had UC for 22 years and have been on several different medications. I was on Prednisone for 14 years and never gained a pound. In February of 2009 I was put on Lialda after a 4 year remission. I gained 10 pounds within two weeks, all on my stomach. Last November, I had another flare that lasted 4 months (I never lost a pound even though I was eating very little).
1070971 tn?1299614110 I was told that I have inflamation in my small intestine after having the pill cam done so I was put on Lialda. It works great. I have actually been able to go to the bathroom without Milk of Magnesia or other stool softeners. I have noticed that I have gained alot of weight in a short time though. About 10 pounds in 2-3 weeks. Has anyone experienced weight gain with this medication? Is this just water retention? I am not happy about it!
Avatar m tn Hi, understand your predicament. Is it happening every time you take the medication? Ulcerative colitis treatment usually involves either drug therapy or surgery. Some drugs that work well for some people may not work for others, so it may take time to find a medication that helps you. If diet and lifestyle changes, drug therapy, or other treatments don't relieve your signs and symptoms, your doctor may recommend surgery.
Avatar n tn m now back home, taking prednisone (which they are slowly tapering off), Lialda and enemas. I also developed a deep vein clot and am on coumadin to heal. I guess I'm simply looking for some wisdom and encouraging words. I lost 20 pounds over the last month while being sick, am now anemic and quite weak. I do see very tiny improvements each day and I realize this is going to be a long haul back to health.
Avatar n tn I started taking Lialda in August, 2008, and took it (3-1g tabs once per day) for 5 months before I got better. However, I am not sure whether to credit the Lialda or the Flora-Q I began taking after three months into my treatment. I have lymphocytic colitis so this may not pertain directly to your diagnosis, but I hope it helps.
1269644 tn?1270486006 Hello everyone! I recently had a Colonoscopy to find out what is going on with me.. I have had bloody diarrhea, dizziness, muscle aches/pains, fatigue and nausea for the past 9 months. The Dr. said that he saw some inflammation in the left side of my colon and took some Biopsies. Is this how he can tell if it is Crohn's or UC? Can't he tell just by the imaging through the Colonoscopy? What can they determine under a scope? Also, he prescribed me Lialda 2x's a day..
Avatar f tn hi there yes i have uc and bowel sounds are quite normal for me as soon as i eat? then i have to go on the loo !!
Avatar n tn I tried to do the same thing with getting my Lialda medication but they never replied back to my paperwork or anything. I am going to try again this year to see if I can get it.
Avatar m tn I have been diagnosed with UC in 2008. I am currently taking Lialda to subside the effects of UC while I eat. However, I am starting to have other symptoms that I am not familar with. For starters, back in Dec 09, I started developing "ulcers" or sores at the tip of my tongue that would last for 2-4 days at a time. They did not hurt, but were red/inflammed looking. They only appeared once in Dec, again in Jan, and now in Feb it is almost a continuous thing.
Avatar n tn the mucus could be caused by several things like ulcerative colitis (UC), anal fissure, or a bowel obstruction but most common in IBS. depending on how long it has been going on a colonoscopy would be somthing to consider. try looking at this https://health.google.
Avatar f tn Yea he jus put me on lialda for now thanks for responding im jus trying to deal with it!

Avatar m tn s for the last 5yrs and am on 5mg of Prednisone/day as well just being switched to Lialda 2.4gms/day (from Pentasa 4gms/day) one month ago. I was started on Famvir today-500mg tid. I am leaving for Hawaii on Wednesday and am scheduled to swim with the dolphins on Thursday. I have completed my first full day's dose of medicine and will continue until the prescription is completed. I am then staying on a maintenance dose of 250mg/day until I can get the vaccine in 6mos at age 60.
Avatar f tn I agree with lizziecee. I'm on Cimzia, lialda and folic acid. When I have a flare to help reduce inflammation too,is to try to stay on clear, or soft diet.Applesauce, pudding, boullion, apple juice. Just give the intestines a rest for little bit. Good luck, and feel better.
Avatar f tn My husband is 41. Six years ago he was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, and it extended from inside his rectum all the way up and around the first bend in his colon. He never took medication for it, because he's hardheaded - but he smokes, and the nicotine had kept him from ever having any flare-ups. Today he had a follow-up colonoscopy, and the doctor seemed very shocked to find that my husband has absolutely NO signs of ever having the ulcerative colitis.
Avatar n tn I have my husband (age 24 yrs) with colitis infection just detected in December 2007 and now completely leading anormal life. Can i get infected with the Ulcerative colitis if we have unprotected sex ?
