lexapro

Avatar f tn It also gives me tremors and night sweats. I was on Lexapro for many years then it pooped out. I did very well on Lexapro. My anxiety has been a daily battle for the past few months. I exercise, do yoga, go to therapy, on meds to no avail. Has anyone had success on Zoloft for severe anxiety? What about side effects? I've read it can be somewhat stimulating which is my problem with the Effexor.
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed Lexapro to help with the depression / anxiety cause by the metoprolol beta blocker. Has anyone else taken Lexapro for drug induced depression and has it helped ? The beta blocker has caused severe depression and anxiety. I need something to help me to get out of this hole and depression that I"m in. Can anyone let me know if you've luck with Lexapro helping with drug induced depression. Its the lesser of two evils. I need the beta blocker for my tachycardia....
Avatar f tn I was wanting to know if anyone has seen any research on Lexapro for treating bipolar. I was taking 300 mg of Lamictal with 40mg of Lexapro and 10mg Geodon when I had a really bad manic episode. I had never had an episode while on meds before. Any and all information would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn Hi, my partner has anxiety/depression and the lexapro generic he is currently taking is not helping. Hes been on it since before i met him but its not helping. I need somewhere in orlando to take him but dot know where to start as weve just moved to the area. I dont know what to do.. He needs his meds changing..
Avatar f tn Find something else. I've had better luck with natural/herbal remedies for depression (Vitamin Shoppe), sunshine, and meditation. I went from a size 2 to an 8 twice taking Lexapro. Should have learned my lesson the first time. To me, there is nothing more depressing than looking pregnant when I am NOT. Oh yes, most of the weight was belly fat...and I am naturally pear shaped. This stuff does terrible things.
Avatar f tn hi all.. ive had anxiety disorder (no depression) for past 9 weeks.. ive been on Cipralex (aka lexapro) for 6 weeks and am currently coming off them. I havent had any relief from my anxiety since taking them.. actually it definately got worse when i started the meds. Im currently on 5mg a day for another week and then will go down to 2.5mg and eventually off.
Avatar n tn I was told by my phys. that Lexapro would not cause a weight gain while taking it for slight depression. If it causes weight gain, I need to get off this stuff. Please provide feedback.
460948 tn?1232305722 Hi, I have taken lexapro in the past. I have chronic depression & anxiety. Lexapro was not strong enough for me. The dr switched me to celexa. If taken correctly,( like all anti-depressants) .it should make you feel better but it takes about 4 to 6 weeks for these drugs to work.
Avatar f tn So, three weeks ago I did and they put me on Lexapro 10mg for anxiety and Protonix 40mg for stomach problems that go with my anxiety. So, now I feel better but I wonder if I could avoid all this by stopping the birth control pill. What other options are there for a 20 that doesn't want to have kids for at least 5-8 years?
Avatar f tn if a person is diagnosed with chronic major depressive disorder and GAD and takes lexapro and trazadone, and has been receiving monthly counciling and medication reviews for over 10 years, what is the prognosis? do these patients usually present with rigid type thinking, repressed rage, concrete thinking and inability to process in an abstract manner and severe fear of intimacy?
Avatar m tn I have struggled on and off with anxiety and depression for most of my life. Up until I was about 19 I was able to hide my anxiety and at that point my depression was not too bad. During my sophmore year of college the anxiety developed into panic attacks. My first panic attack landed me in the ER...I thought I was having a heart attack or stroke. (I know many have been there...and even though the Dr. says you are physically healthy...

202436 tn?1326477933 He said he feels she has dsythimic disorder (for those who don't know it's like a milder depression but it runs constantly in the background and wears you down). He wants to do therapy with her to teach her how to open up and talk about things...possibly art therapy. He has referred her to a pschiatrist which I'm pretty sure the psych will want to prescribe medicine. I'm not a big advocate for psychiatric medications in young children unless it's a LAST resort.
Avatar m tn Feel free to PM as well if you are more comfortable with that. Thanks. I have struggled on and off with anxiety and depression for most of my life. Avatar f tn I do take klonopin for my anxiety normally. But i do not take anything for the depression, because i seem to only have that when i have a flare up. I made an app with the PDoc to see if there is anything that can help. As i have migraines too, and take migraine meds, i am limited if any to take an ssri. So i am kind of stuck. And i agree to some it may seem so ridiculus to feel so down and out just because of a stomach issue.
1066198 tn?1333312628 I have been on & off treatment for PMS (since age 15) and Depression/Major Depression and Generalized Anxiety Disorder and ADD from ??? til now..2007 was diagnosed Bipolar II-- Hypo-mania/mixed episodes and deep, deep depressive episodes, since then, add in OCD & PTSD ..... I use the online MEDHELP.ORG site for journaling, trackers & such, as well as handwritten journals, notes in my day planner, etc. I take my meds very regularly...
Avatar n tn I'm a 23 yr old male who slipped into a deep depression six years ago. I have been on SSRI's for six years to treat my depression. While the SSRI's helped with the depression, unfortunately the drugs also shot my anxiety level through the roof. Before being put on SSRI's I had a moderate anxiety problem but I was able to enjoy social interactions and was able to function well around people, friends, family, etc.
Avatar f tn i would say lamital is the best med out there (though i didn't tolerate it myself) not because it doesn'tcause weight gain or with the least side effects, but it'speculiarity concerning depression, because being bipolar you must have periods of depression (the majority) but lamictal lifts depression. i am on seroquel for example and i find it the best for me. if i start questionning diabetes, withdrawal symptoms, cataract, weight gain, i will not take it. give it a try for sure.
Avatar n tn I have heard nothing but bad reviews for this medication and i was just wondering if there is any cause for me to stop taking it?
Avatar m tn (shes now 10 months) they figured it was postpartum depression. I am on Zoloft for it. For the most part my depression is under control there are times when I have bad days mood wise but I can usually snap out of it quickly (I also have firbomyalgya and thats another huge reason for the depression) At first I felt the same way that you did about taking the anti - depressants. I didn't know what it would do to me and I didn't know if it would make me a different person.
1111269 tn?1258503371 Hi Duke, I did extensive research on Serelax and was going to try it for anxiety, but after reading posts by Paxiled, I decided against it for now, read her posts it should help you decide.
Avatar m tn Especially that alot of the user reviews under the depression/anxiety say it causes insomnia... But maybe its a different kind of insomnia? Maybe I have absolutely no seratonin to create melatonin to sleep??? Would like some advice on this. Would Lexapro be a good choice? Or Zoloft? Or Celexa again? Or....??
694947 tn?1227991027 I ws thinking about asking for Lexapro or wellbutrin for MDD/GAD and anbian CRr for sleep. I just want to have the joy of life back. I dont find joy in anything anymore, Movies music playing with my kids. Though on Pain killers, It helps the pain it puts me in that zone. I would like to get to that zone with out the opiates. Can a getthere with the other meds? I read a lot of HORRIBLE reviews about cymbalta and wont go that route.
Avatar m tn So I have been on and off meds for anxiety. I have tried Lexapro and Celexia and while they worked good I had a sexual side effect that I hated (as well as wife). Recently tried Welbutrion and no side effect but didn't do much for my anxiety. Thought that it was at first but not so much anymore (been on it for 2 months). Been reading a lot about Buspirone and it seems like it really works well for some people and does not have the side effect that I dread.
Avatar n tn I have taken Lexapro and this did not work for me after I had my second child. Is there any natural herbs that can help with anxiety and depression. My thought is maybe I can wean myself off the Cymablta and takje comething more herbal and lose this weight.
Avatar f tn By the way, have you ever considered counseling? Besides getting a prescription for Lexapro (for anxiety and depression) I sought the assistance of a psychologist and he helped tremendously. Whenever I get a panic attack, I realize that it is just that - panic and not a heart attack or anything that will kill me. I just accept it and ride it out. In other words, I decided to not get stressed every time I have a panic attack and that attitude alone has really helped me to cope.
Avatar f tn I can't even take Sudafed without getting jittery, and have a hard time with some antibiotics, so I hope that Lexapro works as well for you as it did for me. I haven't been out of bed much this week, with exception of today. I e-mailed my doc and told her I'm so depressed that I don't even feel like getting up anymore (regardless of how I feel), that I feel worse on the Zoloft than off, that I quit my job because of this, etc.
1374490 tn?1282027635 I've never been on antidepressants for any length of time. I was on Lexapro for a few days a few years ago but had a weird side effect so I stopped. I agree with the earlier post that exercise is a big help when you're depressed. Just get outside and walk for an hour. Go with a friend or family member and you can talk a bit while you walk. Or go to a beautiful park and walk and try to really see all the beauty around you. Force yourself to get up and get going.
1442059 tn?1340244552 I did try Cymbalta and it helped with my depression but did nothing for my anxiety so I quit taking it. The above poster is right, this med is stimulating so if you do decide to take it start at the lowest dose possible. You might want to consider taking an antidepressant that helps both anxiety and depression. Keep us up to date and let us know what you decide to do. We're here for you.
948349 tn?1294383837 Its hard enough to deal with the depression and for me the ten mils. of Lexapro I took I believe really helped me threw . ADs work for some and not the good for others .. And Effexor might work and might work for you and might not ! I took it about ten years ago and worked great but this time it made me fell worse ! So my Dr. but me on Lexapro and that did the trick ! Go figure ! Good luck to you !
