Common Questions and Answers about Laser surgery nose

Avatar f tn , I am a 30 yr old female and I just had shingles about 2 months ago which left unsightly scars on my right, lower leg. I was wondering... can laser surgery help remove those scars? And if so, how soon can I start laser skin treatment? I have very pale white skin and would like the scars to be removed without my skin pigmentation changing. Do you also know how much they usually cost? Thank you so much.
Avatar n tn Is laser DCR common? How about balloon DCR? I don't like the idea having an incision. How can I find a doctor does laser DCR? Thanks a lot This discussion is related to Post-DCR surgery complications.
Avatar m tn Hi, i have nose scar at my nose due to pimple. Now the scar seems like a big pore and is clogged at the same time. I heard that the nose is difficulty to deal with in terms of scar. I heard that many procedure will make the scar even bigger. Is there any laser of other treatment avaiable.
Avatar f tn Hi there, A clinical examination is necessary for appropriate diagnosis and management. Scars are areas of fibrous tissue that replace normal skin (or other tissue) after injury. There are no medicated creams to remove scars; you have other options like surgery, where scars can be cut out and stitched up, a process called scar revision. Laser surgery & resurfacing or Steroid injections are other options. That is all I can say at the moment.
Avatar n tn I have middle of nose moderate collapse. Originally I had surgery to improve my breathing and quality of life. I had a septo - rhino - uvuloplasy and also turbinate reduction. My doctor reccomended I also have rhinoplasty although my intention was to only improve breathing. Now three and a half months later my breathing is still significantly worse that before my operation. I also am experiencing a lot of depression because my nose is now a scooped down. My questions: 1.
Avatar f tn My DD was born a month ago with a small mark on her nose tip. More alarmingly, though, was the shape of her nose- the nose tip looks like a huge bulb, which sounds like a compound hemangioma (my older DD also has hemangiomas, so I know by the look that this is probably what my younger DD has). Is there anyone out there with experience with a nose tip hemangioma? Did you get it lasered? At what age does it get worse? Did anyone get surgery for their child?
Avatar f tn I also had sinus surgery a few weeks ago and have developed a bad smell within my nose. I first noticed it about 4 days ago and it comes in waves. Seems to get stronger if I turn my head. To me it smell like stagnant water and dirty feet. It makes me sick to my stomach. I also use saline nasal spray and also nasal washes. Yesterday I noticed a lot more drainage down the back of my throat and today the smell has gotten a lot worse. Have you received any relief yet from your "smell"?
Avatar n tn I had ATF, I think it was called, on my face 3 days ago for melasma above bilateral eyebrow, upperlip, bridge of nose, chin, and various patches on cheeks. He told me that following the procedure the spots would get darker before "sloughing" off. Boy did they! I just thought they were emberassing before having the laser done! I paid for three sessions and he said it should be 4 weeks inbetween each session.
Avatar n tn Facial spider veins can be tricky to remove because facial vein treatments are often limited to Laser Vein Removal, since Sclerotherapy and vein removal surgery can leave permanent scarring. Laser Vein Removal has become the preferred method of getting rid of spider veins. Facial spider veins in particular were once difficult to treat, but lasers and IPL have made it effortless.
Avatar m tn The only answer I could come up with is that I would need laser surgery but maybe there is a better way. I'll post a picture so you can see what I'm talking about and any suggestions would be helpful.
Avatar n tn My 10 year old daughter has this red spot on her nose. It's not a pimple it looks like a blood vessle close to the surface. What sort of treatment should we be doing with this?
Avatar n tn I have an one year old son, he has these red spots that keep on appearing on his nose, it would start off red and it would turn into a scabe. Can somebody help me, please. Because i don't want his face to be messed up with this problem.
Avatar n tn Hi Doctor, I had a very deep blood vessel removed on the tip of my nose. I had laser surgery (Yag) performed at a local Dermatologist. That nigh it appered the tip of my nose may have become infected and leaked out pus. Needless to say I have a crater that will not heal. The Dermatologist tells me to wait one year before anything can be done. yt has been 5 months and its about 50% improvement. He claims he can use Dermabrasion to smooth edges and reshapre the tip.
Avatar f tn Hi, I had 2 cystic acne on my nose when i was 17. I'm now 22. The acne left 2 bumps on my nose. they are round, firm, skin colour, 0.6cm in diameter, and they have pores on them. some doctors said they are some sort of whitehead that stayed dormant for years and some said they are hypertrophic scars left by the acne. they also told me different ways of treating it.
Avatar f tn Hello, The various treatment options of actinic keratosis are cryosurgery, electrocautery, laser treatment, topical treatment with imiquimod and different types of surgery. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn on 28 april, dilated exam was ok, but after one week, i found a new shape of floters and flashes in front of my right eye in darkness, and i was examed to have tetinal tears in my left eye. on 10 may, i had the laser treatment.
Avatar n tn Hello, It can be due to telangiectasia. They are small dilated blood vessels present under the skin especially on the face. It can be due to environmental changes like sun or cold overexposure, skin trauma, overuse of steroids, acne rosacea or venous hypertension. Sclerotherapy and laser treatment are the two main treatment options. Please discuss these treatment options with your dermatologist and get it evaluated.
Avatar n tn Hello, About 3 years ago I had a plastic surgeon do a punch type biopsy on the top of my nose (it was benign). One of the stitches had ripped during the healing process. The result was a dimple type scar on my nose. Ironically -I wanted to avoid scars like this which is wht I had it done by a plastic sugeon. The doctor told me that I would have to wait at least 2 years to determine how it would heal. Well, it has been over 2 years, and it has not healed very well.
Avatar n tn Hi, I think it is a benign mole or wart or just simply a papule. You can get either a surgery done or cauterization or laser treatment. Most patients do not feel significant pain after surgery, even when a bump is removed. Of course, the nose will be tender for a while, but this generally subsides quickly. Keep me informed if you have any queries. Bye.
Avatar m tn Also while I do not advocate Dermabration to all, this procedure is also done on the nose in many conditions like acne scarring,Rhynophyma, nasal reconstruction, and as a part of cosmetic surgery on the nose. References do maintain the role of dermabration in selected cases but complications are there for every procedure! Best wishes.
Avatar m tn They form a depression or sunken area because of damage to the collagen, fat or other tissues below the skin. In such scars, apart from plastic surgery, laser resurfacing is also helpful. They can be safely and effectively resurfaced through the proper use of a high-energy, pulsed or scanned carbon dioxide (CO2) or Erbium-Yttrium-Aluminum-Garnet (Er:YAG) laser.
Avatar n tn The hospital asked if my father agrees to have laser surgery to lower the eye pressure. Given such bad experiences, should we trust them of another surgery? Please help my dad by getting rid of the headache. We are very upset by the hospital’s cold response as well as not giving thorough explanation and direction.
Avatar f tn He indicated if he does the cataract surgery he will also possible do a glaucoma surgery at the same time on my right eye. I think it would be laser not a Trab. I know the risks associated with cataract removal especially given my high myopia and at this point do not agree with my glaucoma specialist that my benefit would out weigh my risk for a successful surgical outcome.
Avatar m tn Since I was as young as 12-13, there has been a very tiny dot in the center of my nose (smaller then a piercing) and every now and then a nose hair would grow out of it. Thinking nothing of it myself and parents never thought it was anything to get checked because to this day it has never given me pain or discomfort. Well as you can see that tiny dot that started out 15 years ago has widened and multiplied.
Avatar n tn It has been recommended to me also that I have turbinate surgery as my middle ones are 3x their normal size and I have a deviated septum. I have terrible headaches and breathe through my nose. I have never had a surgery before so I am very wary of having something done especially on such sensitive tissue. Thank you so much for the information and comments.
Avatar n tn I have patches of pink skin where I had those pimples. The worst problem is that they left holes on my nose. I have one on the tip and two right next to each other on he upper left tip, which is also dented from the pimple. One of those two holes are the size of two pores combined. For some strange reason, after my pimple went away, the skin around there was a little sore and two pores swelled. After the skin got a scab and peeled off, the two pores became one.
Avatar m tn I had sinus surgery about 3 months ago. During this time my eye doctor has had me on Pred Forte for Blepharitis(all the other steroids did not work). A staph and strep infection was discoverd in my nose. I thennoticed the Pred Forte did not really work until I took a 10 day cycle of Cipro. Can these infections have an effect on the eye(Red eyes?
Avatar m tn For an in-office laser procedure your eye should have been numbed with drops prior to the actual procedure. Should also note, that if you experience any discomfort during the procedure you should tell the doctor and s/he will administer something stronger. Some people are more sensitive to the laser light than others and if the area is extensive or the laser power is increased then the discomfort may be worse. Also, try taking tylenol before the procedure or shortly afterwords.
Avatar m tn On January 4 2011 I had an IPL laser treatment done under my eyes to help reduce dark circles, the skin is very thin due to damage from sun exposure. The next day, my left eye started twitching on the bottom corner lid of the eye near the nose. I ignored it and attributed it to stress, but after a month with no let up I called my dermatologist and was assured these non ablative lasers cannot penetrate deeply enough to cause any nerve damage. So I let it go.
