Avatar n tn It showed that I had 2 bulging/herniated discs and 1 herniated disc. The bulging/herniated discs are at L1-L2 and L2-L3 position. The mildly herniated disc was at L5-S1 position. My leg pain is always there, however, its severity is on and off. It's never extreme, such as inability to get out of bed or not go to work. However, at times it's distressing resulting in inability to exercise at gym or do various physical activities fully.
Avatar f tn General neck and back pain and headaches since 1997 Numbness and tingling in neck and left arm and hand (mainly pinky and that side of my hand) started in October 97 Numbness and tingling also affecting right arm and burning sensation in neck and upper back starting Jan 98 I was sent to physical therapy for a suspected bulging disc and after 6 weeks symptoms increased so I was sent for an MRI After seeing the bulging disc in the MRI I was sent for more Physical Therapy and Cervical Tractio
Avatar n tn I have extreme referred leg Pain - caused by assumed sciatic nerve pressure from bulge from diagnosed minor Bulging L5 / S1 disc. Signs of canal stynosis - as I have pins and needles in my left foot and calf muscle consistantly. I get severe Glutenal cramping from walking so awkwardly to lessen the impact as sitting and walking seems to aggravate sciatic nerve due to added pressure on the disc. Lying down relieves leg pain. Acupuncture and physio can not relieve my pain more than temporaraly.
Avatar n tn Tiny surgical attachments are the sent down the hollow center of the probe to remove a portion of the offending disc. The microsurgical attachments can also sometimes be used to push the bulging disc back into place and be used for the removal of disc fragments and small bony spurs. Candidates suitable for this are Recurring buttock, groin, low back, or leg pain, numbness or weakness Pain that has not responded to conservative treatments, i.e.
587306 tn?1218529734 Contact Laser Spine Institute Cervical disc herniations(or bulging discs) that are addressed with conventional surgery not only require removal of the entire herniated disc (discectomy), but also fusion. With this procedure, the disc is removed through an incision in the front of the neck (anteriorly) and a small piece of bone is inserted in place of the disc and hardware is placed to immobilize the area of the fusion to allow the bone graft to fuse.
Avatar f tn I let them do endoscopic surgery on me in November 2012 at the Laser Spine Institute. As far as I can tell, the surgery didn't work. It probably made my nerves and muscles WORSE. The back of my neck is stiff like a sliding board. I am in pain all the time, except for when I am lying down. I have a good job and I hate to be off so much, but this is a nightmare. I feel like somebody is pressing down on my shoulders and neck. I do my best to ignore the pain.
Avatar n tn My results were instant. Had the surgery done at age 43. Hope to be able to get surgery done on bulging disc c6/c7 at some point. Anyone wanting more info about my experience just let me know.
Avatar f tn Impression: 1. L4-5 mild shallow diffuse disc bulging contributes to mild bilateral foraminal narrowing without central stenosis. 2. L5-S1 very mild disc bulging without stenosis. 3. Overall, no significant disc protrusion is noted and no central stenosis is seen. 4.
Avatar n tn He continues to tell me that because C3-4 C5-6 and C6-7 which is a severe spinal stenosis with moderate bilateral foraminal narrowing due to spondylitic ridging and disc bulging the surgery should be done. I have dealt with this situation of pain, numbness, and weakness for over ten years. It is getting more severe and on top of this, I have Fibromyalgia. PT sessions with cold packs are a temporary fix, about 3hours. The manipulation therapy makes the pain worse with spasems.
Avatar n tn The fusion surgery is designed to decompress your spine and hold it in place. The laser surgery, which is slightly less invasive, just shaves off the protruding disc. Laser surgery should provide more instant comfort, as it's less invasive, but doesn't supply decompression of your spine. That's my understanding of the surgeries, I am not a surgeon.
Avatar f tn Had neck surgery at 33 and now finding out I have a herniated disc in the next level. I do also have low back problems, bulging disc L5-s1 and that flares up my sciatica goes wacky and that's very painful. Try doing pilots using the reformer machine, that's helps me a lot even my neck. Also try a little yoga and make sure you stretch at home every day. Oh don't forget to ice it and also use moist heat not dry heat for about 15 minutes both ways.
Avatar f tn I am so close to simply going for it and trying laser surgery to have the inner jelly cut off, the disc closed back up, and praying it brings me the relief I have been pleading for day in and day out for the last 11 years. I don't know what else to do! If you have any suggestions about what else I should try, or if I should go for the surgery, please give me your opinion!!!

648377 tn?1316396179 I also have been diagnosed with DDD and several herniated and a bulging disc. But I also have Sjogren's syndrome and the doctors think maybe some RA. Just make sure to check, get blood tests, to make sure there's not more going on.
Avatar n tn as of that time previous MRI showed bulging disc at C4/5 and, I believe, T1/2. Nothing serious back then. So condition is worsening with time, sedentary lifestyle -- but now in very acute stages of neck and left arm pain, constant pain killers, doing little to dull pain. I have consulted with laser spine institute in Tampa, FL, they recommend multiple percutaneous endoscopic laser discectomy. I have not seen a surgeon local to me, but my doctor thinks he would recommend disc replacement.
471354 tn?1221065794 [eventually 1995 Spinal Unit did reconstructive CT, showed fusion failure, marked opacity, upper screws out - surgery at time too risky. Monthly XRay 18mo assessment - then upper screw seen as migrated & embedding at angle into C2, followup showed C2-C6 gradual self fusion but still with slip C3 on C4, and some opacity, further bone loss & disc]. Later reviews [2 professors] too risky to intervene.
Avatar m tn I HAD A MRI DONE BACK IN MARCH AND IT SHOWED 2 HERNIATED DISC BELOW AND 2 HERNIATED DISC ABOVE THE FUSION . HEY MAN CHECK OUT LASER SPINE INSTITUTE.COM/DISC .THINK REAL HARD BEFORE YOU LET A SURGEON TALK YOU IN TO A SURGERY LIKE I HAD THE PAIN RELIEF LASTED ABOUT A YEAR. I KNOW SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO HAS HAD THE SAME SURGERY AS I HAD AND THEY ALL ARE HAVING MORE TROUBLE OR EVEN HAD ADDITIONAL NECK SURGERY. ASK ABOUT A PROCEDURE CALLED RADIO FREQUENCY.
Avatar n tn I had spinal fusion on my L5 5 weeks ago, and i am now hurting now more then i ever did before surgery. My Doc said he had the surgery and was back to work in 2 weeks. At 2weeks for me i was hurting so bad i thought i had messed up my fusion. So i went to see my my doc and had an xray and was told it was fine. He gave me a RX and said it was my last one. Avatar m tn 3 yrs ago I was hospitalized couldnt walk was in there 4 days and the drs couldnt find out what was wrong. Had an MRI said that I needed surgery bulging and hernated disc been on lortab 7.5 3 a day for over 2 yrs now had an MRI last month and the dr said that I have one little bulging disc but other than that the disc are healthy he cant explain the back pain.
Avatar f tn I was told I do not qualify for disc replacement because of the ligament instability and multiple disc injuries. Are there treatments I have not tried yet? Thank you for you time and advise.
Avatar f tn I just had a microdiscectomy for a herniated disc in my L5/S1 region where I also have degenerative disc disease. The surgery definitely got rid of the numbness down my right leg and pelvic region but it didn't really help as far as the pain in my back ( I may be impatient my surgery was only 5 weeks ago, however the doctor did tell me this may happen). However my surgery recovery time was about a week and a half and I do not regret it. My surgery was so minimally invasive I was floored.
Avatar f tn Get a neroligist or orthopedic specialist to look at your MRI to see if they can relate the pain to your discs... if you do need surgery don't go for a fusion... try these places first... Laser Spine Institure,,, MicroSpine *******, Dayton Laser Spine Center... all outpatient and you'll be out of there in a few hours... fusions cause more problems on the surrounding discs...
Avatar f tn I then had a procedure called vertebroplasty and have been in worse pain than I was before. DO NOT HAVE BACK SURGERY!!! Bulging dics can be corrected through laser surgery and there is no cutting through muscle. Check out Laser Spine Institute. Just google them and check out their site. I have all the conditions that you have and I take Oxycodone 10/325 mg. 5 a day.
