Avatar f tn I then had a procedure called vertebroplasty and have been in worse pain than I was before. DO NOT HAVE BACK SURGERY!!! Bulging dics can be corrected through laser surgery and there is no cutting through muscle. Check out Laser Spine Institute. Just google them and check out their site. I have all the conditions that you have and I take Oxycodone 10/325 mg. 5 a day.
Avatar m tn Can an intestinal surgery be used to fix a perforated bulging disc or is the bulging disc the cause of the need to do a intestinal surgery such removing a piece of the intestines because of the bulge pushing on the intestines making a blockage.

Avatar n tn opinion, I would say that depending on the closeness of the discs that were fused and the now bulging disc, there could be an association with the fusion. Anytime a disc is fused, you lose 13% of the original movement in your back. This loss of motion adds pressure and stress to the discs around it. I had a disc fusion 2 years ago and the disc above my fusion is now bulging. I went in knowing this was a possibility, but did not think it would happen so quickly.
Avatar f tn Hi i am a 30 year old female who has just spent a week in hospital and after an mri was told i had a bulging disc they were worried as i did suffer incontinence on 4 separate occasions and the pin test round the anal area was not right i could feel it but apparently the muscles were not reacting as they should , I have been give ibuprofen, diazepam and paracetamol to come home with and have been advised of complete bed rest and in 6 weeks time i will receive an appointment from a spinal surgeon
Avatar f tn I had an MRI done last week and my results showed that i had concentric disc bulging with a small central disc protrusion. Bilateral neural foramen narrowing is present due to the concentric disc bulging and facet hypertrophy. There is no spinal stenosis. L5-S1:There is concentric disc bulging with abroad-based central disc extrusion. The extrusion is slightly greater to the right of the midline. Bilateral neural foramen narrowing is present, greater on the right.
Avatar m tn According to my orthopedic physician, i am on recovery stage and sudden pain / cramps are not due to Bulging disc, as i am able to do forward and backward bends, without any pain or stretch in my legs Hope you too recover soon
429700 tn?1308007823 t cause the degeneration that usually preceeds a bulging disc, but if the joint between the vertebrae is weakened by the arthritis, then the muscle spasms in the spine, or spasticity itself, could possibly tip the scales over into causing the disc to bulge. Sounds plausible. It's the way the other parts of the body behave.
Avatar m tn There are many different terms used to describe spinal disc pathology and associated pain, such as “herniated disc”, “pinched nerve”, and “bulging disc”. The bones which form your spine are called as vertebrae. The space between two vertebras is cushioned with disc. When disc bulge or break open due to any reasons like ageing, or trauma to spine, it is called as herniated disc and this can cause pinching of nerve.
Avatar f tn The disc space is minimally narrowed with desiccation and central disc bulging. These changes do not produce mass effect on the spinal cord. Uncovertebral disease results in minimal narrowing of the foramina. No facet degeneration is identified . C3-4: The disc space is minimally narrowed with desiccation and annular bulging. These changes do not produce mass effect on the spinal cord. Uncovertebral disease produces minimal foraminal stenosis. No facet degeneration is identified.

Avatar f tn *At L3-L4, mild focal spondylostenosis id due to broad-based circumferential bulging of the disc with ligamentum flavum hypertrophy and mild facet hypertophic changes. There appears to be a tiny 2-3-mm synovial cyst associated with the left facet projecting torwards the paraspinal musculature.
1794411 tn?1321495731 d w/ bulging discs in my neck and then today I went to the Pain Management clinic and found out that I have another bulging disc in my lower back. I am going to be having cortisone shots in my neck.. little nervous about that. But hoping it helps. The funny thing is... I have not had any car accidents or injuries to cause any of this. The only thing is that it seems EVERYONE in my family has the same problems....
Avatar n tn Had leg and ankle shooting pain, went to orthopedic doc, she ordered an Xray and MRI and I have a L-5 bulging disc. Mild degeneration but no osteoporosis or other findings. Question..........what is the best treatment for this...... I love to walk.... The PT gave me exercises that hurt. Ice and Ibuprofin work great, but don't want to cause stomach problems with prolonged use. What is the very best treatment for this type of injury. I do not know how I did this.....
Avatar m tn The mri says blocking of blocking of l5 s1 lateral recess, and posterolateral protrusion of d5 d6and d6 d7 disc apart from disc bulging and spondylosis. These can be tried to ease by physical therapy, NSAIDs and epidural steroids are other options. Surgical decompression can be considered once these options fail and prove ineffective. Consult your neurologist who will give you the correct opinion as per the clinical presentation and neurological deficit.

1491568 tn?1289051242 I have had a discectomy on my L5-S1 and have had the same pain/symptoms ever since the surgery. Still have herniated disc per MRI. So I basically went through the surgery for no reason in my mind. I also had a C6/C7 discectomy fusion with hardware and cadaver bone. That was a nightmare and still is. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn A mass effect could be a bone spur (osteophyte) or a bulging disc or a tumor or a hemangioma. It is difficult to say what it is on net. A bulging disc or osteophyte may respond to physiotherapy and pain medications. A tumor needs to be followed up and may be excised. Hemangiomas could also be treated conservatively or with surgery. So, you need to find out what the mass effect is most likely to be. The treatment will depend on this diagnosis. Take care!
