412873 tn?1329178055 Has anyone on this forum been treated by the Laser Spine Institute in Tampa for spinal stenosis? My father is scheduled for a procedure there and I have some concerns about the center based on the way they have treated him so far.
Avatar n tn So condition is worsening with time, sedentary lifestyle -- but now in very acute stages of neck and left arm pain, constant pain killers, doing little to dull pain. I have consulted with laser spine institute in Tampa, FL, they recommend multiple percutaneous endoscopic laser discectomy. I have not seen a surgeon local to me, but my doctor thinks he would recommend disc replacement.
587306 tn?1218529734 The patient walks out of our surgical center of their own accord 2 - 3 hours after the procedure and will not experience any of the negative disadvantages that conventional surgery entails. Contact Laser Spine Institute Cervical disc herniations(or bulging discs) that are addressed with conventional surgery not only require removal of the entire herniated disc (discectomy), but also fusion.
493068 tn?1224768915 Does anyone know anything about the Laser Spine Institute in Tampa Florida?
Avatar n tn Yet she would rather me avoid the surgery given my age. Other people say that surgery is extensive and is very long to recover from and has some risks. What surgery did your mom have and how quickly was she able to recover? Walking? Workout? And etc.? I will probably start PT next week, but honestly, I don't hope for nor expect any improvement.
Avatar n tn Yes - I'm curious what type of surgery you had too. I heard that having laser surgery is a lot easier to recover from than regular surgery. My main concern in doing that is because the gastro doctor said in my case it would be considered cosmetic surgery at this point (doctor code for "not covered by insurance", how much does surgery like that cost if you don't mind me asking.
Avatar n tn I had spinal fusion on my L5 5 weeks ago, and i am now hurting now more then i ever did before surgery. My Doc said he had the surgery and was back to work in 2 weeks. At 2weeks for me i was hurting so bad i thought i had messed up my fusion. So i went to see my my doc and had an xray and was told it was fine. He gave me a RX and said it was my last one. So i have had nothing for pain since 3 weeks after surgery.
Avatar m tn I had a cataract in one eye only but I chose to have cataract surgery in both my eyes. My post-surgery distance vision in the eye without the cataract is at least as good as my best-correct vision was before surgery. I've never had a problem with my IOLs.
Avatar n tn Have you considered the Laser Spine Institute in Tampa, FL? They cut through no muscle tissue and laser the bone spurs etc... with the lasers. Check them out at laserspineinstitute.com they have helped alot of people including my son who had two herniated discs and extreme pain running down his leg to his foot.
Avatar n tn His team has also had a lot of success with endoscopic and laser surgery. You can send all of your stuff to him for evaluation before having to make the trip. I've seen some spectacular cases he's operated on. One guy had no discs in his neck, just one long rod! You only have one neck and that connects to your back which makes up your whole spine..... make the right decision when it comes to who you let cut it open. Another great site is GPN, Global Patient Network.
Avatar m tn I have been told they can't do posterior surgery with C3 being too near the brain stem. My 2nd question is whether places like Laser Spine Institute (based Tampa, FL) can really do what they claim?!? They claim they can use the laser tool and trim off the herniated/ruptured disc, relive the nerve pressure on C4, fix any stenosis, fix arthritic spurs, and save the remaining disc with no fusion, etc.

395684 tn?1216001324 However, recently I have moved to Tampa Florida and the Hotel/Condo I have been staying at for over 1 1/2 months is 1/4 mile from Laser Spine Institute located at Rocky Point in Tampa Florida. It is a well-recognized facility. I have gotten into lenghty conversations with residents while at the Pool and I am told Laser Spine Institute is the "BEST" in the US.
Avatar n tn I talked to the doctors at the laser institute in Tampa. They can not help me at this point because of the hardware I have. They are very nice. They could not believe what this doctor is doing. I wish I new about them first.
Avatar m tn the forums and websites that i have visited relates highly to surgery with low levels of sucess. also, i found the laser spine institute information (LSI) regarding spinal surgery procedures. their site indicates a high level of surgery sucesses compared to the traditional surgerical procedures. obviously, i would prefer to find a way other than surgery at this point and i am looking for recommendations. also, i have been going to pt therapy for 4 weeks with levelsof improvement.
Avatar n tn I tried the Back Problem forum and got some responses there too. I also have contacted the Laser Spine Institute in Tampa, Florida. I contacted them prior to my laminectomy and I wish I had gone there to have my lumbar problems taken care of. I was really put off by the fact that no insurance covers their procedures since they are considered experimental. I was also stunned by the $30,000.00 price tag.
Avatar f tn I've looked into the laser institute in tampa which sounds very interesting, but also costly. I know that I have degerative back disease and I guess what I want to know is if I can expect things to get a lot worse than they are right now. Could all of what I'm experiencing be related to the stenosis? I would appreciate and be very thankful for any information or suggestions regarding my problem. I would love to know a life without pain and medication.
Avatar n tn I have talked to one of the surgeons at the Laser Spine Institute in Tampa, Fla. I know that my insurance doesn't cover it as they are considered experimental. They told me that they are desperately trying to become eligible to contract with insurance companies and are probably getting closer to it. Right now it is $30,000.00. Whew! You are so right when you say BACK PAIN SUCKS!!!
Avatar n tn ) While it sounds like the centers mentioned above are specialized in treating herniated discs, I am curious as to whether anyone on this board knows of the Laser Spine Institute in Tampa, Florida. No, I'm not advocating this place, but I have looked it up online and it seems to present a viable option for those of us contemplating spinal surgery. Has any other physician on this board considered arthroscopic or laproscopic surgery to remove disc herniations in the cervical spine?
Avatar n tn My CABG was done by the Pepin Heart Institute. I have 2 Cardios at the Cardiovascular Center of Tampa, so I always have a 2nd opinion. It never hurts to have a second opinion.
Avatar m tn St. Louis at Laser Spine Institute in Tampa. Dad's nerve pain was relieved to a great extent after an operation as a result of an MRI which revealed nerve impingement in the cervical spine. Laser spinal surgery was a god send. He went in in a wheel chair and came out walking the same day. Might not be the same that you have, but maybe worth looking into... Hope you get better.
Avatar n tn Has anyone hear of the "Laser Spine Institute" in Tampa, Florida? Check out their website.
Avatar m tn You have had a lot of surgery over a short period of time, and a PPV is very invasive. If you are going to have more surgery, you need a rock star surgeon. I recommend scheduling a consultation at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. Be sure to clearly explain your eye history (especially the reason for PPV) when scheduling the appointment so they can match you with the most qualified doctor for your situation. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn What you might want to do is take your MRI report and send it for an evaluation at the Laser Spine Institute in Tampa Florida. They do minimally invasive repairs as opposed to massive, invasive spinal fusing. Take your time and get lots of opinions! Physical Therapy by someone who knows what they are doing can be a miracle! Once you get started, its painful and difficult but you will feel like your moving toward a solution.
Avatar n tn Tampa Girl, Interestingly enough, I am learning of laser surgery myself. I sure wish I had looked into this before I had my spinal fusion, as it seems laser surgery would have addressed the same issues without the accompanying trauma. I am very interested in getting more information from you on your experiences. My email is ***@****, if you care to make a contact.
Avatar n tn You can have this too, but DONT LET THEM CUT YOU OPEN unless its life or death! Spinal fusions are not very successful. Check out the Laser spine institute in Tampa Florida and let them evaluate your MRI's and see what they can do for you. Best of luck and stay positive if you can, anxiety and depression will only worsen your condition and bring on new problems. Believe me I KNOW ALL TOO WELL! Fix your mind first, than start to fix your body!
163305 tn?1333672171 I see Dr. Guy Neff at Tampa General in Tampa Fl. Great Dr. but very busy office as it is part of University of Tampa and he is head hepatologist at the transplant ctr. and getting phone calls returned is at times VERY frustrating, other than that no complaints......
Avatar n tn I did the month of therapy with no relief other than regaining the small bit of motion that I had before surgery and which had been restricted by the surgery and collar. This was not much of a gain and was so stated in the therapist's final eval. When I went to my latest follow up August 16th, I again explained that nothing had changed...that I had the exact same symptoms as prior to the surgery.
Avatar n tn i am having doubts about this fusion but there is a alternative surgery(laser surgery) laser surgery institute.
