Avatar m tn HEPATITIS B George had already had chronic hepatitis B for seven years by the time I first met with him. Drug medicine had not helped, and yet vitamin therapy had never been offered to him. Here is his account of it: "I hadn't had many serious symptoms except fatigue for years. My liver function tests and bilirubin counts remained elevated. Worse, the disease had caused cirrhosis of my liver. "I have been treated on two occasions with Prednisone, a steroid drug.
Avatar m tn One of the three patients was participating in a famciclovir trial and the other two were receiving lamivudine therapy for active hepatitis B infection. All three patients had documented hepatitis B flares, and all had hepatitis B virus DNA detected at that time. All patients developed decompensated liver disease despite one patient having had a prior liver biopsy showing absence of cirrhosis.

Avatar f tn Lamivudine 150 is meant for HIV patients or patients coinfected with HBV and HIV.Only Lamivudine 100 is usually prescribed for hepatitis b patients. But whatever be the dosage its not at all safe to be treated with lam. due to its high risk of resistance associated with it.Moreover it is also very weak as compared to the newer medicines like entecavir and tenofovir. You should change your doctor and see to it that your new doctor prescribes you entecavir/tenofovir.
Avatar m tn Your post is confusing. The usual definitive test for Hepatitis B positive is the HBsAg test. If you test positive for HBsAg then you are Hepatitis B positive. In some rare cases, you may test HbsAg negative, but your viral load (hbvdna) is detected, then you have what is known as Occult Hepatitis B. Most likely in your case, you tested hbvdna "negative" after being on Lamivudine, but you still tested HbsAg positive.
Avatar m tn Please I need help. I was diagnosed of having Hepatitis b five years ago. D Doctor advised me to use Lamivudine which I did. Avatar m tn The study sampled 1,000 physicians, including internists, primary care providers, and gastroenterologists to determine this group’s knowledge about hepatitis B, and their capability to effectively assess patients’ risk for hepatitis B and immunize and screen them. Researchers created a survey featuring four fictional case histories that described patients at high risk for contracting HBV, followed by questions regarding knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs of HBV screening and vaccination.
Avatar m tn A total of 283 patients with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection (245 patients with chronic hepatitis B and 38 inactive hepatitis B surface antigen carriers) were included in the study. The HBV genotype was determined by using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and sequence analysis, and tyrosine-methionine-aspartate-aspartate (YMDD) motif mutations were determined using the reverse transcriptase hybridization method.
Avatar m tn I would like to know if it is a commune side effect of Hepatitis B or if Lamivudine could have such an effect. Thanks for your help.

Avatar n tn hepatitis D is not a virus it is a kind of hbv parassite which uses hbsag to act as a virus, without hbsag there exsists no hdv
Avatar m tn To evaluate how much kidney protection telbivudine confers, researchers monitored kidney (renal) function in 831 hepatitis B patients who received a combination of antivirals for 96 weeks, including: Telbivudine and adefovir Adefovir plus lamivudine Adefovir plus entecavir Adefovir alone and entecavir alone Among the five treatment groups, significant improvements in kidney function was observed in the adefovir plus telbivudine and adefovir plus lamivudine groups over the study period.
Avatar n tn 20,000 IU/mL (105copies/mL), lower values 2,000- 20,000 IU/mL (104-105 copies/mL) are often seen in HBeAg-negative chronic hepatitis B; 3. Persistent or intermittent elevation in ALT/AST levels; 4. Liver biopsy showing chronic hepatitis with moderate or severe necroinflammation. Inactive HBsAg carrier state: 1. HBsAg-positive >6 months; 2. HBeAg-, anti-HBe+; 3.
