Avatar f tn 51 yo F, diagnosed with Runners Knee, have been in pain, swollen and limping for 7 months. Dr. says to just keep coming back for cortisone, but it really does nothing. I can hardly walk, I am in pain, do I have to live like this? Is my doctor on the right track? Maybe I have meniscus tears??? It affects everything... walking, sleeping, working. Help!! Also, I have had xrays only. Shows no arthritis. In both knees, although one is worse than the other.
Avatar f tn t get stressed out or overwork myself, I stay fairly well. The biggest problem is working out. I love working out, but I have to be very careful or I'll get sick the next day, like I have a little flu. It's so frustrating. I'm 58 years old but really remember being sick off and on since I was about 15 or 16 with urinary tract infections, had a deformed kidney removed.
Avatar f tn I had gastric bypass surgery & now that ive lost 82 lbs, im having more knee pain than before the surgery. I would occasionally have knee pain when I was extremely overweight whenever going up & down stairs. Now that I ve lost the weight, my knees hurt more often & I have to be careful when stepping up or down stairs, or bending over to pick something up off the floor. Is this because im not working out at all?
Avatar f tn I need advice on what to do about the pain in my knee. I got into a small accident while biking last weekend. While biking along the main stretch of town, I collided with the side of a pick-up truck backing out between two buildings. He couldn't see me and I didn't see him until it was too late. Neither one of us was going very fast and there wasn't even any damage to my clothes from where I hit the pavement, so I figured the bumps and bruises were going to be the end of it.
Avatar n tn You can do it.Sitting on floor and taking knee to breast bone stretches out your lower back muscles.Just remember to stretch before and after and take it slow. This is what we do at the gym for people with arthritis and such.Water exercise is the best but if your doing something is better than nothing.I just wanted to help.

Avatar n tn Lack of progress and improvement becomes understandable when one considers that typical evaluation and treatment are directed at the symptoms. But with chronic knee pain, and many other pain syndromes, actual benefits may be obtained by addressing underlying biomechanical problems. Faulty biomechanics are at the root of many ongoing knee problems. Of course, various other diseases and orthopedic conditions may cause the same type of chronic pain.
Avatar n tn I went to the doctors this afternoon as the pain was great and he wanted to see me. turns out he thinks I have some nerve pain Siatica I am going in the morning for a MRI he gave me a new med to get me through the night a med for neve pain, I had a total right knee replacement on 10/05 I knew something wasn't right, I will keep you posted on the outcome again thank you.
Avatar f tn Did you get MRSA on your arm from the hospital when you had your surgery? I think the pain in the knee is probably from the surgery rather than MRSA. They won't know unless they culture it. Do you know if the ER did a culture on the knee fluid? Is the antibiotic you are on not working for the cellulitis MRSA? Cellulitis takes a while to clear up as it can be deep in the tissues.
Avatar f tn I started working out and eating healthy about a year ago too...I had lost 72 pounds before finding out I was pregnant, I still work out now im almost 30 weeks, I walk alot and play a workout game on my xbox kinect I just change some of the workouts so they don't hurt my stomach....I did run a little in the beginning and the protein shakes are ok depending on what kind it is, I would google it or ask your doctor!
Avatar n tn My wording may have been confusing, but I have been working out for about six months now, and the pain that I experienced about 3 months ago, was the pain in the back of my head and neck. At the time I figured strained muscle in my neck, or I did not breath right, so I didn't work out for a while and i was fine. Now, about 2 days ago, I get a massive headache AS SOON as i start working out, no pain in my neck, just a massive headache.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, this is katelyn and i found out that im having surgery on the 23rd on my right knee from all the problems i was having, Im really nervous though because im afraid to go through with the surgery and then it not end up working :(. this will be my 5th surgery and im only 17, and that's probably not good because in the future if i develop any other problems with my legs it might be more severe.
Avatar m tn I experience many different kinds of pain in many different areas of the knee, everything from the type of pain that accompanies a bruise to pinching, burning, and stinging. It does not matter if my knee is bent, straigthened, or whether I am walking or resting. I would really appreciate some suggestions to help alleviate the pain.
Avatar n tn Ever since then I cannot knee on a certain part of that knee. If I do I get a sharp, burning, stinging pain that quickly subsides once off the knee. I can walk and run on it fine, and have not experienced any swelling or other problems. I cannot feel any abnormalities on the outside. The pain is on top of the knee. Even pushing on a certain area it is is sensitive. What do you think?
8513688 tn?1398467158 I'm on a "drug holiday" now. I have chronic knee pain from a replaced R knee also a L knee in need of replacement. I was on 50mg fentanyl for 3-4 years. Went to pain dr.she cut dose to 25mg, gave me a compounded cream, and 15mg Meloxixam once a day. I can't really tell the difference as far as pain goes. Also I figured I'd start "withdrawal" but, I really don't feel any different.
Avatar f tn In October 2010 I had bilateral TKR after suffering from knee pain due to osteoarthritis for more than a decade. After being fully informed I was convinced that the pain in my knees would be gone and walk like normal. My right knee was slightly less painful than the left which was constantly in pain . Xray scan revealed ther was no space at all in the joints and both bones had become almost fused. A must for TKR, the operation was done in both knees on the same day. Post op was event free.
Avatar f tn My left was done in Janurary 2007 and my right knee was done in July 2007. Since the surgery I have had severe pain espically on the outside of the right knee. I have pain in both knees and limited movement in both. The pain has not gotten any better with time. I did have an injection of steroids about 6 months ago that helped some but things have not gotten any better since. Has anyone else had this sort of problem?
Avatar m tn If I sit on a chair for a few minutes, then attempt to move my right knee, or stand up, I will experience excruciating pain all along my joint. It's mostly under my kneecap. My left knee is perfectly fine. The thing is, though, that it isn't because of long periods of inactivity. If I wake up in the morning and sit on a chair for only a few minutes, the pain will be just as bad as it would be during the rest of the day.
Avatar f tn The meniscus is a rubbery, C-shaped disc that shields our knee. A torn meniscus can obstruct your knee from right working. There are three types of meniscus tears, each has its own symptoms. 1. Minor tear: you might have minimal swelling and pain for 2-3 weeks. 2. Moderate: you feel pain at the side and in center of knee, the swelling increases day by day, limit your tendency to bend the knee, you may feel sharp pain while bending your knee and walking.
