If anything, the reverse would be true because a more recent injury will still have swelling that ideally needs to disappear before an
ACL reconstruction can be performed. An older
ACL tear means the leftover ACL parts would have dissolved over time, there'll be less to clean up on the inside of the knee, and there is no injury swelling to deal with.
The ACL reconstruction procedure is the same regardless of how old the injury is. And your age does not prevent you from having ACL surgery.
