Common Questions and Answers about Knee pain from injury

knee-pain

Avatar n tn Ever since then I cannot knee on a certain part of that knee. If I do I get a sharp, burning, stinging pain that quickly subsides once off the knee. I can walk and run on it fine, and have not experienced any swelling or other problems. I cannot feel any abnormalities on the outside. The pain is on top of the knee. Even pushing on a certain area it is is sensitive. What do you think?
Avatar f tn t hurt too bad but flex the knee and it has sharp pain like i have walking up and down stairs because of the knee caps. I sit in a normal position but lifting foot causing lots of pain around knee cap. I'm guessing I probably pulled something. Have put ice on it and taken ibu. I don't know that there is much a dr. would do but just wonder what I could have pulled.
Avatar f tn Pain in the front portion of the knee can be caused by bursitis (inflammation of the lining of the joint, possible due to injury while playing), arthritis, or injury to the patella cartilage (front portion of the knee). Pain on either sides of the knee is usually related to meniscal tears, injuries to the collateral ligaments, and even to arthritis. Pain in the back of the knee can be caused by arthritis or Bakers cysts (cystic accumulation of synovial fluid, also causes a swelling).
Avatar n tn I have a pain in the back of my right knee. I can sit for about 5 or 10 min and when I get up I feel like I am going to fall. When I lay in bed it aches. Its just the back of my right knee and I can feel that it is swollen. Can anyone help me with this pain. I have tried icy hot cream and bengay hot towels.
Avatar m tn Felt pain in right knee when pulling sofa forward about 4months ago. At the time I had no swelling , no continuous pain or knee wasn't buckling. However, when I've tried running I can't totally put weight on right knee. When I'm lying on my back, and bend my leg there's no pain. When I starighten my leg I can feel pain.ive tried holding my leg halfway and the pain is there around my right knee.ive not been to doctors because I have no "major symptoms".
Avatar f tn I twisted my knee and when it happen I heard and felt a pop on the inside of my knee. Also, now when I walk, I have pain and crackling on the outside, under the knee. And now I can just be standing there and my knee feels like it is really loose and feels like I hyperextended in, the knee pushes back. How ling should I wait to go to the doctor or should I continue to try and heal it myself.
1587585 tn?1309432260 I can straighten my leg all the way (but its sore) When I bend my knee back it really hurts. The pain seems to be coming from behind my knee. What do you think is causing the pain?
1961313 tn?1326290364 I have problems with my knees, just general stiffness-but one day I had to get down on my right knee and the pain was extreme,it wasn't necessarily in the knee but to the right side of the knee,it felt like the skin was splitting into,I look and the skin looked fine,so I don't know if it's the tendon or the muscle what ever it is,is very painful,in fact I can't get down on my knees any longer
Avatar m tn My mother is 58 years of age. She has pain in her left knee for almost last one year and this leg is swollen for same period. We consulted various doctors (including ortho.) but there is no improvement. X-ray was done and she has been treated by doctors for crack in skin and infection, but there is no improvement. She can not put her full weight on right leg and can not move on stairs. There is small history of one injury in her legs.
Avatar f tn Had RK microfracture & LK OATS. Somewhat able to do things with tolerable pain level. Started back with the floor pilaties & yoga. Too much stretching I guess. I started where you are with similiar discomforts. Then started to hurt behind the knee and on the lateral side. Now...I can't stand without both knee fatique and pain, i can't walk without pain. It has ruined me! I'm walking with braces and oh boy if i have to go up or down stairs, HELP~!
5245618 tn?1365687749 So as you can see, arthritis can cause an overall knee pain. Ligament injury causes pain to worsen on walking, bending and stretching the knee. Meniscii too if torn or injured cause pain worsening on walking and result in joint instability—that is you are not confident the knee joint will take your weight. Often the person feels a popping sensation on moving the joint. It can also be tendinitis due to inflammation of tendon at the knee joint.
Avatar m tn From there hopefully your doctor can perform tests to find out if there is tissue damage, or what the exact injury is. Until then, I highly suggest you stay off of your knee as much as you can, i.e. no running. You can try ice, or heat, whichever feels better. I would be careful when stretching as well in case you aggravate your knee. Good luck and I hope your knee feels better soon!
1306931 tn?1273540199 Hi there, I had a very severe knee injury. I dislocated and shattered my knee dancing at a halloween party. It's been about five months and I do have flare ups no matter what. All I can suggest is that I take Nsaids like voltaren and it helps me with the arthritis in my knee. I also wear a knee brace when I walk or do any kind of physical activity. My knee makes a lot of crunching noises and sometimes its painful, but at least I can walk now.
Avatar m tn I would think so mainly because its been so long. & I had a meniscus tear in my knee that I let go on for 6 months from sports, thinking it was just tendonistus or something until my regular doc finally found the little sliver of the tear. It ended up getting really bad (the pain) & I had to have surgery. Bc there is such little blood flow alot of times it wont heal on its on. So I would for sure see a doc by now..hope this helps!
Avatar f tn Woke up this morning and it was gone. Does this sound anything relate to MS? Or am I avoiding the inevitable with possible knee injury? Any thoughts welcome :) Hope all of you had a great summer!
Avatar f tn Two days later once I stand up it sends a shooting pain from my buttocks down to my my knee and a bit down wards. I now feel it when sitting when lying down and when standing down which is worst. I don't have any injury around that area and I live in Nigeria. Any suggestions that you can give as to what might be wrong and probable solutions before I am able to go to the hospital. Don't have enough money to go and get the X-rays and other scans done.
Avatar n tn the most I can bend is like 90 degrees, after that, I feel a bad pull in my quadriceps muscles. My quadriceps muscles have swollen just above my knee cap. There is no color or pain. It is just that I feel a bad pull when I bend my knee, its swollen, difficult to walk because of the knee bending problem, there is no pain on the swollen part, but it hurts my quadriceps muscles when I try to bend my knee. Please give me a solution to this problem. I will be more than grateful.
Avatar m tn Nearly two years ago my 21 year old boyfriend began to experience severe knee pain. There was no previous injury to the knee to cause the pain. He has since seen every specialist you can think off and they are all stumped. He has had many blood test ans scans done with nothing showing up that can explain the amount of pain. He says that his pain is centered at the middle of is knee ( the point that you would come to if you drilled from the top of the knee and the side of the knee).
Avatar n tn i have pain under both kneecaps and is painful to walk on but there is no pain when i bend either knee I have suffered no injury that would cause this and pain was in right knee first and now its both
Avatar f tn If it is a chronic pain you have to rule out conditions like muscle or tendon injury to your quadriceps or injury to any of the ligaments in the knee. It can be conditions like bursitis or also nerve involvement. I would suggest you to follow up with an orthopedician for an examination. Take care!
Avatar f tn I’ve rested my knee and it’s not healed I still get pain and aches with resting it in a bent position in the centre of the knee, I also get pain when doing explosive movement and small things like running up the stairs. I’ve been to see a physio and he seems to think I have bursitis, he has given me exercises and I’ve been stretching my muscles and rolling out but it doesn’t seem to be improving. Any tips or anyone suffered from this that could share how they recovered.

Avatar m tn This happens due to mal-alignment of the knee cap on bending the knee (and hence any imaging study has to be taken with the knee bent), injury to the knee (you may have sustained it in past), flat feet, over tight or over lax muscles around the knee joint. All these aspects will have to be investigated by your doctor. Other possibilities are bursitis (inflammation of fluid filled sac over joints), tendonitis (inflammation of cords joining muscles to bones) or due to weakness of patellar bone.
