Avatar m tn I to have a history of stones & even dealt with one stuck in my urethra for 5 months ( i was still getting my fix of hydro so why bother) until i got a Major infection, as u should know being in the medical field as well, so i had zero choice to have 2 surgeries in 1 week. Congrats to 16 months clean, thats awesome & what i'am striving for ( i'am only at 29 days ) but being in the medical field u know sometimes u might just need them.
3183592 tn?1344634338 I squirmed around trying to find any relief, but nothing I did made a difference. I had treated hundreds of patients with kidney stones, but now, I realized, I was the one who was about to wind up in the emergency room. My wife drove me to the hospital where I worked, and I greeted the ER director miserably letting him know that I thought I had a kidney stone.
Avatar f tn I was told there was a lil calsification in it as well but probably wasnt a stone well low and behold 3 weeks ago 1 am i am in so much pain i can barely breathe yet again i take a trip to the hospital and end up going for a ct to find out in my right kidney i have a 8 by 10 mm stone a 5 by 6 mm stone and four 1 mm stones and i also have a 2cm stone in my left kidney..
1175033 tn?1492204828 I have had reoccurring bouts with this pain for over a week now and it just keeps coming back. I even had a toradol shot last weekend and it didnt phase the pain. The doctors cant figure out where the pain is coming from, im not sure if the pain i am having is from my spine that already has issues or im passing a kidney stone?
1310633 tn?1430227691 *This is long, sorry* I'm not sure how to put into words exactly what my situation is, so I'm going to ramble for a bit and see what comes out (looking for advice): I produce kidney-stones and pass them on a regular basis (I have an incurable condition called Cystinuria which causes me to make & pass large kidney-stones).
Avatar f tn Dear Bambamm, I have gone through your case history. Medullary sponge kidney (MSK) predispose to recurrent kidney stones and urinary tract infections. First I would like to find out what is cause of pain? In your case, probable cause of pain is either the stones or a hematoma. If a hematoma is causing the pain, It needs to be surgically drained. Decompression will relieve the pain. As for your stones, I think surgical procedure is the best treatment to relieve pain.
237500 tn?1189759431 The good news is, you will probably be able to get through it without narcotic pain meds. I have had a series of kidney stones and have been given all kinds of meds for them and, by far, the MOST effective thing I've ever taken for that pain is Toradol! Give it a shot...let them give it to you intravenously right after the surgery. After you're released from the hospital just try to make do with motrin. Try to keep a positive mind set..
Avatar f tn I have read that potassium citrate reduces calcium kidney stones even where urinary citrate levels are normal and urinary calcium levels are high (that's me). I would really rather start there and see how I do. What is wrong with giving me a year on this and see how I do? I have reduced my sodium intake to less than 1500mg per day which should also decrease stone formation as well as drinking a TON of water. My urologist is very conservative. He manages the passage of my stones.
529457 tn?1212841532 Do you have kidney stones? I have not used Toradel myself .... I've been lucky and Mobic has helped and/or watching what I eat .. I cannot drink fruit juices .. make my kidney ping and pang! Defintely do a 24hr study as Shelly suggests and bookmark her other articles ... they are great resources. MSK comes and goes in the pain dept .. oftentimes many have reported a flare with emotional stress! Any questions .. just let us know .. we are here for you and WELCOME to the community. Oh ..
Avatar f tn A little background below. My question is - are there questions I should be ready to ask of the kidney Dr? Any info I should request, would they think it is weird to ask for my test results? Background Due to the issues of bladder and urinary tract discomfort I was having, an ultrasound was ordered where they saw abnormalities with my kidneys tentatively noted as possible Meullary Sponge Kidney.
Avatar f tn The 8mm stone is in my right kidney. I don't know what is going on. I would figure that if I had a kidney infection (which is what the nurse thought it might be), it would just hurt in one kidney, and I'd have a fever. So heck if I know.
Avatar f tn came in and told me, yes ma'am you have also have a birth defective Rt. Kidney....she sent me home and told me to call my doctor for a referral to a uroligst/nephroligist...she did give me some perkocet and I took my meds as prescribed and felt no better three days later...the perkocet was causing an allergic my husband took me back to ER and they preformed a CT scan...told me the stones still had not passed, and sent me home with toradol and ultram...
Avatar f tn I actually called Dr, Wolf from the University of Michigan as he performs a surgery that lasers the calcifications in the kidneys which is not s cure, but is supposed to be a treatment to reduce the number of stones passed, reduce the amount of flank pain due to the MSK, and hopeully will also help with the UTI's.
Avatar m tn Hello, Testicular pain can be due to injury, infection (Epididymitis or Orchitis) or inflammation, testicular torsion( most common in young men), excessive bicycle riding, hernia, varicocele or kidney or ureteric stones. As there is no swelling or inflammation or redness of the scrotal sacs, so the chances of epidiymitis or orchitis are rare.
Avatar m tn I get a CT Scan every 6 months and have 4 stones in left kidney and 2 in right kidney. Please read my post about kidney stones (says something like Kidney Stone & this is my story) cause I need someone to talk too or someone that is or has gone through all this agony. You will understand if you go to my post. Thanks for listening/reading. I have been through several urologist & they just don't know.
Avatar f tn Toradol is a non narcotic medication that they have given to me many times for pain for kidney stones, which if anyone knows, is one of the most, incredible pain that anyone can experience, along with childbirth. Toradol is very strong and works instantly, and considering it is a type of ibuprofen, I've not heard of anyone not being able to tolerate it. It definitely doesn't give you a "high" feeling, but it works terrific. You should try that.
307401 tn?1194835748 That is a question that has been bothering me. I have had kidney stones in the past and I wonder how they would kill the severe pain from those(if one were to occur), without getting off of the sub ahead of time??
Avatar n tn If anyone can tell me what to do I would be grateful. I have had laser treatment for kidney stones and have had one stent placed for 3 months, one for 6 months taken out on 23rd August, and replace with another stent, hopefully this will be removed at the end of September.
1035252 tn?1427231433 THank you Sudie and Sara - you guys are a great part of my cheerleading team! Vicki - your righteous indignation on my part warms my heart....hehe. I'm doing alright. I started the taper today...I know we can't do specifics but I am taking a slightly smaller amount (I have a pill cutter) a slightly longer time apart. I'm going to take 1/4 of a .
701581 tn?1279139638 I heard topamax is effective but have a long history of kidney stones-which is the only pain worse than migraines so out of the question. Do you know of any others I could try? I also was wondering how you afford your meds? The doctor prescribed a nasal spray called migranol-I tried it once and it gave me some relief but was $250 for eight vials-which I cannot afford. My son has some seizures and is on meds and have high bills for him which of course take precident right now.
Avatar n tn Oh,"ozark".. and she was tested for kidney stones and infections... all were normal! And, the nurse in the ER locally (we live 2 hours from where she had her ERCP and hospital stays) mentioned "TORADOL" to our pediatrician. She took it for the evening and day until we could get to Charleston for her to be admitted. Seemed to be a good thing!
1549643 tn?1495762953 I've had severe fatigue for 14 yrs. I have leg cramps, severe back pain, hip pain, my fingers and hands hurt, and my fingers feel like they are losing their strength. I also have muscle weekness in my arms and legs. I have neuropathic pain really bad right now too. I've had low white blood cell counts, low b12 & vit d, that's it. I've also shown plenty of past urine tests with lots of blood, sometimes traces of protein but I don't have kidney disease.
Avatar n tn 3) If there is no treatment, it is likely that the pain will continue. There has been some cases where improvement was made without improvement, but this is an uncommon occurance. 1415321 tn?1306973553 I got home and started researching kidney stones. First, the the doctor was very nonchalant in my diagnosis, stating that it was super common to have kidney stones and to just come back in 7 days if I didn’t feel better. Second, they didn’t give me strainer for my urine. Turns out it’s just a little plastic strainer with a filter inside it and I was able to buy one at a local medical supply store for $7.00.
Avatar n tn I agree, it is wrong to depribe others of the pain killing effects of Vicodin. I am an addict, I took vicodin for quite some time for Kidney stones, nothing else would have cured the pain. Now I am addicted for the euphoria and the physical dependency I have. I agree, it is not easy to get vicodin, I continually had to return for tests and prove my need about once every month.
Avatar n tn Here is Mississippi they are mad, crazy, tight with their narcotics. I once had kidney stones and they gave me darvocet. I've lived other places and its nothing like here. I guess they've had a lot of problems, I would have thought MS would have been a little more relaxed, you know with all the country small town docs. They have shifted to toradol for the most part over here for severe pain(they do us the old stand bys too but you pretty much need to have surgery or trauma.
Avatar n tn Have you ever tried Toradol? It now come's in a pill form. Last year when my now ex had kidney stones and was in the ER with them, the Dr. gave him shots of Toradol, it took his pain a way. I think the ER Dr. knew he was addicted to opiates because of the way he looks. Long hair, very massy looking. Toradol is a non narcotic and has a very high success rate... Let me know. On another note, I will email you about my son's interest in being a pagan.
