Kidney stones treatment cost

Common Questions and Answers about Kidney stones treatment cost

Avatar f tn No i don't have any other pain conditions. Just stones and kidney infections as a result of the stones. I take antibiotics about 2 weeks out of every month to keep the constant infections at bay which i can't imagine is good. Im assuming he refferred me to the pain mgmt dr because he's afraid of prescribing pain meds on such a regular basis. I can understand it but its still not easy for me because I'm uninsured and can't really afford to add another dr to the mix.
Avatar n tn A subsequent CT scan revealed I had 2 additionall ( 2mm non-obstructing) stones in my right kidney and a cluster of at least (four 2-3 mm stones in my left kidney). They were also non-obstructive. I've been told by a couple of doctors and urologists that they cannot be the cause of my pain, even though the pain feels just like when I had obsturctive ones. I can also feel the damn things moving around and it causes me to have kidney spasms.
503291 tn?1229423121 I'm in a similar stage of things, myself (ultrasound results came back today -- "several" stones, but I've no clue of exact numbers nor size, and the gallbladder itself apparently is a wee bit tattered from the passage of earlier stones, but nothing terribly horrid; my GP is hooking me up with a specialist in the next few days/weeks for the next step) and as far as I can tell, there's four primary methods.
Avatar f tn The only reason I have not done that yet is because we have a friend who has 3 nonobstructive kidney stones in one of his kidneys for the last 12 yrs, and when this doctor told me "don't worry" I remembered our friend. But I will see another doctor. I heard passing a kidney stone is no picnic in the park. And I would like to prevent having to go through this exercise. Thanks for your input.
Avatar f tn Not a big deal, lot of preggo ladies have it at the beginning. Just make sure you get it treated now before it turn into a kidney infection. And drink pently of water. Cranberry juice help too.
Avatar n tn Hi Nadia: I took the liberty of copying some background information on Hulda Clark from so you can put her claims in a more proper, unbiased context. It's a bit lengthy, but very instructive: =========================================================== Hulda Regehr Clark, 72, claims to cure cancer, AIDS, and many other serious diseases.
492869 tn?1285022533 -( I should think the fact that my kidneys are concentrating stuff so much that it has the opportunity to turn to ROCK is pretty good evidence that it needs a WEE bit more dilution, LOL. So yes, by all means, I WANT THE TUBES. Hehehe.
1832268 tn?1326819610 We brought him home and did twice daily under skin fluids plus standard recommended meds and kidney diet. We then took him to a kidney specialist who was trying to determine at what stage of Kidney disease he was at. Got his levels down a little more a week little later, things were looking promising and his energy levels were increasing dramatically. Less than a week later, he completely stopped eating. Took him to specialist after 2 days of not eating.
1963554 tn?1325451090 He said that his right kidney is destroyed and that his left kidney has about 25% left. He has a tumor within his bladder and his urine cannot pass thru which goes into his kidney and damages it. When we had Shaggy checked out in May our vet said that it's UTI...because I mentioned to him that he'd pee and then go to other spots and nothing comes out. So he was given anti-biotics. This went on for several months.
1522652 tn?1291241954 I know that there is a link beginning with my chronic uti's as a child, to my severe pms as an adolecent into adulthood, and then on to my chronic kidney stones and infections as an adult, and then the loss of my kidney, as well as the problems I'm experiencing now. My question is what specific tests do I need to request to accurately check my thyroid, parathyroid, and my calcium levels? Also, are there any specific questions that I need to ask.
748543 tn?1463449675 For the past few weeks I have been throwing around ideas as to the best way to respond to this matter. You see a recent article ( Feb.3 , 2009 NY times) titled "Best treatment for TMJ May be Nothing" nearly made me clench my jaw to pieces. While well written, I found that the author, Ms. Brody, relied heavily on out dated and narrow perspective supplied to her by a small group of dentists.
Avatar m tn Electro Shcokwave Treatment for ESWT for short has had a long history of use in medical treatment. It was first used to break up kidney stones. Then it found its way into Sports Medicine where it was used to treat various sports injuries like tendinitis and ligament strains. Most recently, ESWT has been used for the treatment of Erectile Dysfunction. How does ESWT work for ED?
233616 tn?1312790796 Thinning hair (predominately in middle aged females on the front part of the scalp). Kidney Stones. High Blood Pressure (sometimes mild, sometimes quite severe; up and down a lot). Recurrent Headaches (usually patients under the age of 40). Heart Palpitations (arrhythmias). Typically atrial arrhythmias. WHY did I persist until I got a REAL diagnosis and NOT A SYMPTOMATIC treatment?? Because Liver patients cannot afford to be on ANY medication they don't NEED to be on.
Avatar f tn I know I've flushed out kidney stones. I've figured out that the cause of my kidney stones is high fructose corn syrup in some of my favorite foods like fig bars which I've given up. I would not be surprised if that had something to do with my gall stones.
Avatar f tn Hi Christina. I think the peach stone wouldn't have caused the kidney disease. The stones do contain toxic substances, but in relatively small quantities. The swimming in stagnant water is a possibility, but quite honestly, I think this kidney disease began maybe 2 or 3 years ago, so again it may have adversely affected an already existing condition, but not necessarily caused it.
Avatar m tn Ask your doctor about trying CYTRA-K CRYSTALS. It is an old time treatment for reducing kidney stones, so don't be surprised if you find the doctor poo poo-ing the idea of CYTRA-K CRYSTALS. But it really does help reduce stones much. And isn't that what its all about with having MSK disease? Reducing those painful stones?
Avatar n tn Internists can be great for this if you have any vet specialists in your area. Cost more but you get the right tests and treatment rather then spinning your wheels with a reg vet. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Sounds like a kidney infection to me. I've had a million of them along with kidney stones and ultimately had to have the kidney removed. You need to go see a Dr. to make sure you are okay. Bleeding and having the urge to urinate means there is something wrong.
Avatar m tn Eating a high-protein, low-fiber diet, high vitamin D levels, overactive parathyroid glands, family history of kidney stones, kidney or urinary infections, Crohn’s disease all can cause kidney stones repeatedly. It is suggested to be screened for above mentioned disorders. Consult a nephrologist and take treatment as advised. The size and location of stone will help in deciding the exact course of management. Do keep me posted. Best luck and regards!
Avatar n tn After a 4 hr stay at the emergency room, I was found to have blood in the urine which the doctor contributed most likely to kidney stones. Before leaving the hospital the pain had subsided. All the symptons I had prior to the onset of the pain were also gone (i.e. burning sensation, frequency in urinating, cloudy urine). In May 1999, I experienced the same intense pain for about 16 hrs. This time I also experienced nauseau and vomiting. A UA again showed traces of blood in the urine.
148588 tn?1465782409 Point well made. I'll say this... the treatment for my ailment, cost well over $280,000. *1 complex left-side nephrectomy *3 weeks in hospital and 4 follow-up surgical procedures to correct lingering issues *16 weeks post-surgical care Cost: $280K'ish Worth every penny. If you're sick, and you want to get better, you'll pay the tab. All of that is off topic, I know, but still...
Avatar f tn He finally went to our GP about two weeks ago, and was referred to a urologist for kidney stones but when the PSA result came back at 59 he was re-referred due to that high score. Meanwhile, he finished 9 days of antibiotics for UTI and has been taking Flomax every day that our GP prescribed. He said after a day on the meds..."well, I can finally pee". He told me (after the fact) that he had felt his bladder was always full, etc.
Avatar m tn The initial urine testing eliminated infections, etc. as the cause, so the next step is a CT scan to check for kidney stones and the like, as mentioned by Dr._Veena. If that does not show any possible cause, a cystoscopy will be performed. You're in charge of your treatment, so ask lots of questions until you're satisfied with the answers. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Was there a previous trauma or injury in your back? Kidney infection or kidney stones could present as blood in the urine and back pain with painful urination. However, if there is pain when twisting, bending or even sitting, this could be from muscle spasm or pulled muscle. Apply warm compress or use an anti-inflammatory medicine for the pain and get rest. If the pain persists or if your symptoms get worse, it is best to see your doctor. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar f tn There is also a concern that this is related to kidney disease, a kidney infection, urinary stones etc. and all of those are urgent in requiring treatment. Here in Canada there are great third party financing companies (petcard is one of them...maybe theyre in the US too) that can help with delayed payments. I hope you can understand a vet's reluctance to create their own payment plan options. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I've battled countless surgeries for stones. I've ruptured my kidney. I'm 43 and my first stone was at 21. As a child I had UTI's constantly. I recently got a renal ultra sound. It came back not good. Dr thinks last stent might have caused damage. Today I did a lasix renal washout scan. I feel horrible. They said it wouldn't effect me but I'm exhausted and nauseated. I had some renal Colic. Has anyone went through this?
163305 tn?1333672171 my tx took 3 years and cost close to 400k, what with all the drugs, and the helper drugs, and the surgeries for the drug side effects, like kidney stones, etc etc etc. let the company make back its research billions, and stop complaining people. 12 weeks vs. 150 wks like me?? and cheaper to boot, with less health issues afterwards..hmmm let me think. sheesh.
1344197 tn?1392822771 Excessive vitamin D can damage the kidneys and heart, and too much calcium from supplements has been linked to kidney stones, the report says. Vitamin D has been a hot topic in recent years because research has linked lower levels of the nutrient to certain cancers, diabetes, and bone and immune system problems. The panel concluded that more scientific research is needed to investigate the potential health benefits of larger amounts of vitamin D.
Avatar f tn had to leave and go home to take Vicodin for pain. I have lost 2 jobs last year for absence because of all the kidney stone related problems. I do not get paid time off or vacation at my current job (its just a part-time job) and my boss has been very nice but I am worried that I will get fired or have to quit. This is such a horrible situation to be in because most people don't understand how bad the pain is all the time and how I pass or have stones in my ureters atleast once a month.
Avatar f tn He also helped get a stone moving along that was stuck in my kidney. I could feel, but it wasn't moving. I hope this could be of help to some of you. It is definitely something to consider.
