kidney-stones

Avatar f tn She was very sick just over a week before she was diagnosed, and they don't know if she was sick from the kidney stones,or if she had the stomach flu,and getting dehydrated caused the kidney stones. However she never really got too "dehydrated" when she was so sick. She did vomit alot, but was still having plenty of urine. So who knows. Any experience on how long these things take to pass? Thanks again.
Avatar n tn I have been reading many message boards and feel am self educated about kidney stones by my own body. Each kidney stone is unique in severity of pain. The bigger ones don't always have bigger pain. The largest I have passed was5 ml. I just dont know what to do anymore. Im tired of passing them, tired of being in pain, tired of missing work and could be in danger of loosing my job. The painkillers are great , but takes a day or so to get back into functioning mode after taking them.
Avatar f tn Cold like symptoms? etc? If it is kidney stones any explanation to why the pain is only so bad at night and just dull aches off and on during the day? Would kidney stones have shown up on the MRI?
Avatar n tn If you didn't have the spine imaged, you should talk to your doc as MS can show up there too. Hypothyroidism can certainly be a cause of your symptoms. Once treated adequately, your symptoms may improve. Another test that may be helpful is an EMG to see if this a problem of your peripheral nerves. Laboratory workup such as ANA, sed rate, blood count and electrolye profile can also help rule out other potential problems such as lupus and other rheumatological disorders.
1963554 tn?1325451090 He said that his right kidney is destroyed and that his left kidney has about 25% left. He has a tumor within his bladder and his urine cannot pass thru which goes into his kidney and damages it. When we had Shaggy checked out in May our vet said that it's UTI...because I mentioned to him that he'd pee and then go to other spots and nothing comes out. So he was given anti-biotics. This went on for several months.
Avatar n tn i was born with (msk) medullary sponge kidney disease but the symptoms started when i was about 2 and 1/2 years old all my childhood i was told its a kidney infection or a water infection and it wasnt untill i was 19 years old and rushed into hospital after i had moved and the doctor said he wanted to test for kidney stones and yes a very large stone was found and a couple of weeks later i was diagnosed with msk but i have checked in my family and there is nobody with it but i was told that i co
1916673 tn?1420236870 Everything you have said about symptoms are connected with the kidney disease. The lumps could be cancerous, but I have to say they may not be, because old dogs get lumps just like old humans. Sometimes they are cancerous, sometimes not. In a way, these are secondary to the kidney disease, which needs to be the priority for now. I am always surprised when vets put dogs with CKF on dry dog food. This really is not good.
Avatar n tn I have also had problems with my bowels (which is common in my pregnancies). I have three children already oldest is 3 and the young 8mths. I have got pregnant on the pill, the implant (in the arm)...and im scared im pregnant again. I had a home preg test which came up neg, then a week later it came up lightly positive. Just to make sure i took another one three days later and it came up neg.....what is going on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar n tn I'm having withdrawal symptoms I didn't expect. Light headedness, the runs, blood pressure going up, and general fatigue. Lots of fatigue. And some irritability. I am hoping that these symptoms begin to decrease soon. Well, they have gotten better than it was in the first 2 days. I am still wondering how long I can expect to have these side effects of withdrawal?
Avatar n tn I have been to a GYN, Urologists, primary care physicians, you name it I have seen them. I have had kidney stones removed, laproscopic surgery (nothing abnormal) and a cystopy (spelling). I was actually hoping that the Lap would indicate that they had found something wrong so they could fix it. My GYN seems to think our next step is to remove the uterus, I just don't see how this can help.
Avatar m tn Hi Everyone, I am asking this question on behalf of my wife, who is 24 yrs old. She has had 3 children in the last 4 years, and the youngest one is 6 months old. She has recently been seeing an endocrinologist because she believes there is something wrong with her thyroid levels... but I don't think he knows her full history.

Avatar n tn The problem is sometimes those pregnancy symptoms are an awful lot like period symptoms (it's a bummer that nature works that way). But either way, I started having sore breasts and slight nausea within about a week or so after my IUI. The IUI worked and I did get pregnant... so although everyone is different, the symptoms started rather early for me. We'll cross our fingers for you and hopefully you'll have some good news in a week or so!
Avatar f tn The rest of the practice has doubts about the number of kidney stones that I have and the amount of pain meds, IV, zofron that I need on a monthly basis. He told me that they now will need proof of a stone through a cathader urine sample and/or and ultrasound to see the stones. If there is nothing there, they won't treat me. My problem is that most of my stones are very small and don't show up on the cat scans much less an ultrasound...
Avatar n tn p same for kidney stones. she didnt have any real idea why it would be slightly high so i left a msg for the doc. re adoption: i've actually adopted 3 kids and yes, this is my first pregnancy to have gone this far. let me know if you want to chat off the board (or on another board).
805104 tn?1242338271 I too was told that it is not worth having them checked at this point, unless they are getting stones and infections. My URO though also did recommend that they drink lemon aid and take Vit. B-6 and Magnesium to help prevent the stones. Also getting them to force lots of water to keep things cleared out. The key with all of them but esp. with you son who is already having some problems is to make sure that any infections, UTI's are treated completely and not just let return.
Avatar m tn If it is bladder/kidney stones- as soon as it leaves your kidney into your ureter you will have no doubt! Just drink lots of water and don't ignore it if it changes at all. I have my fingers crossed for your attempts at pregnancy. Not to be nosy but wondering if you have kids or this would be your first. I struggled for so long at pregnancy- was told I could never have any and now have three miracles- my last child weighed 21/2 pounds and was 13 inches long- a real shocker...
1535595 tn?1317993633 I also had a friend who had to be on Vicodin the last 3 weeks of her pregnancy because of kidney stones and her baby is fine too. So, all i can say is enjoy your pregnancy, talk to your doctor and make sure he or she knows what you are taking. DO NOT EVER QUIT COLD TURKEY and DO NOT LET PEOPLE SCARE YOU OR MAKE YOU FEEL BAD BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO TAKE MEDS. Don't abuse them....
Avatar f tn I can deal with that no problem. Just get scared about the kidney stones. Those are my worries. I'd rather push out those 8 kids again then deal with stones!!! Lol that's how bad. Like I said. I'm trying natural stuff so hopefully that helps!!! Thanks sweetie!!
Avatar n tn I have no children as I would not wish my condition on my worst enemy. I have Cystinuria, by the way. I make kidney-stones big and fast, and I require surgery about once a month on average to have them removed as they're too big to pass naturally. Sorry for the bad news Sister. There's a 50/50 chance your children will come out with what you have. Now, the decision is yours... do you want to take the chance? I didn't want to...
1177396 tn?1263793839 Do you think pitocin could in any way damage kidneys that are already affected by MSK? Also, what do kidney stones feel like? Several weeks ago I had a horrible jabbing like pain on my left front side that went down to my groin. It was enough to double me over and I couldn't walk because it would sting worse. It came and went that night then came back several days later then stopped entirely. My mother said that with kidney stones you often throw up because it's so painful.
Avatar f tn Factors that can cause urinary blood, known medically as hematuria, range from strenuous exercise, urinary tract infections and an enlarged prostate to kidney or bladder stones, kidney disease, and, occasionally, kidney cancer or bladder cancer. * Foods. Beets, blackberries and mom's rhubarb pie can turn urine red or pink. * Medications. Certain laxatives — Ex-lax is an example — can cause red urine.
Avatar f tn I have always been afraid of having children because of it is unfamiliar to me. Ive also been told if I can deal with a stone with out pain meds labor will be a breeze. Is that true? Will this also hurt my baby?
Avatar f tn So I have been sick for almost a year this time. It started last November with urinary infections and 5 stones in left kidney and 1 in the right. I was in and out of the ER and hospital for 3 months, I begged them to operate as I know from experience that as soon as they do clean our the kidney I'm fine.
Avatar f tn came in and told me, yes ma'am you have stones...you also have a birth defective Rt. Kidney....she sent me home and told me to call my doctor for a referral to a uroligst/nephroligist...she did give me some perkocet and cipro...so I took my meds as prescribed and felt no better three days later...the perkocet was causing an allergic reaction...so my husband took me back to ER and they preformed a CT scan...told me the stones still had not passed, and sent me home with toradol and ultram...
Avatar f tn OK, now stones,,,are you sure you have none inside the kidney itself? How old are you? I had my first stones at 19, another at 24 but was 31 before my kidneys were full of the small calcifications. OK now Protein, I did show protein in my last pregnancy and and do now often. This can be associated with MSK, it can also be a sign of infection, however sometimes in pregnancy it can come from not eating enough complete proteins...
Avatar f tn Overdose side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, heartburn, abdominal cramps, headache and insomnia. A vitamin C overdose can also cause kidney stones. More likely are side effects of a vitamin C deficiency, which include a weakened immune system, slow wound healing, easy bruising, dry skin and hair, nosebleeds and bleeding and inflamed gums." Avatar f tn Observe your urine, if this is cloudy, dark and smelling of offal, then go to the doctor to get checked out for urinary problems and kidney stones. With kidney stones, there will be no pain if they do not move. If they move they can cause excruciating pain, with fever and other symptoms. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn org/forums/Medullary-Sponge-Kidney-Disease-MSK-/show/256 That said we all have MSK throughout our lives since it is a birth defect basically that we are born with. I have had 5 healthy children only one of which has ever had a stone to this point and my kids range in age from 27-15. The oldest of which is the only one who had a stone. That said I did struggle with chronic UTI's in my pregnancies, but my MSK was only actually diagnosed in 03.
