Avatar n tn Hi, Renal calculi can vary in size from as small as grains of sand to as large as a golf ball. Kidney stones typically leave the body by passage in the urine stream, and many stones are formed and passed without causing symptoms. If stones grow to sufficient size before passage—on the order of at least 2-3 millimeters—they can cause obstruction of the ureter.
Avatar m tn I'm figuring that kidney stones take a while to form and that, if I have kidney stones and possibly an infection, it's likely that I had the kidney stones first and they contributed to the infection, rather that having an infection first that contributed to the kidney stones (sorry if this sounds confusing).
Avatar f tn She was very sick just over a week before she was diagnosed, and they don't know if she was sick from the kidney stones,or if she had the stomach flu,and getting dehydrated caused the kidney stones. However she never really got too "dehydrated" when she was so sick. She did vomit alot, but was still having plenty of urine. So who knows. Any experience on how long these things take to pass? Thanks again.
Avatar m tn So i went to a eregular doc last tuesday and they did see the 'seeds'. They said it was either kidney or bladder stones(second most common kind). Meanwhile i starred to have pain in the lymph nodes in the groin region, some testicular pain, and minor nausea and light headiness off and on. I have an appy with a P.A at a urology clinic tuesday. Avatar f tn My daughter was diagnosed with kidney stones last month. Had message on 2/16 regarding problems. Since then she still just isn't feeling good. We did only catch 1 stone, not sure if the other is still in there, or not. Didn't show up on last xray, the stones were too low, she then passed 1 several days after last xray. Anyway, she keeps having bouts of nausea, and body aches. Everytime she takes a bath, she gets extremely nauseas. This is new. She used to love to take baths, soak, etc...
554628 tn?1362781519 Hi, nausea, headache and kidney pain can be related with nephropathy (kidney disorder), urine test and blood urea and creatinine are usually done for diagnosis. Kidney stones do cause similar kind of symptoms; ultrasound is quite diagnostic for stones.
1215383 tn?1266418042 One reason is that biofilm infections can set up with in and on kidney stones. Most big stones are known as infectious stones but bacteria can build biofilms on small and calcium oxalate stones as well. Feel free to pm for more information or links on Biofilm infection and kidney stones. Here is the link to the MSK support group here. Though you may not have MSK there is a lot of info on kidney stones, infection and chronic pain etc. http://www.medhelp.org/forums/show/256?
Avatar n tn but i sit here , on the toilet typing this , as for the last two days i have had horrific cramps and diahorra (sp) . Its heart warming to know that all my symptoms are of those relating to kidney stones .
Avatar n tn You will need to take care to restrict certain foods in your diet, especially vitamin C, as it has been reported to aggravate signs and symptoms of both kidney stones and interstitial cystitis.
Avatar m tn As far as I know, these are the only treatments - http://www.mayoclinic.org/kidney-stones/treatment.htm "Watchful waiting About 85 percent of the time, kidney stones are small enough to pass during urination. This occurs usually within 72 hours of the start of symptoms. The best treatment for these small stones is to drink plenty of water (as much as 2 to 3 quarts per day), stay physically active and wait to pass the stone.
Avatar m tn I just had a CT scan to check for kidney stones and I was told that I had none visible but that it did show that I had gallstones. All of my symptoms point to kidney stones, not gallstones. My pain is on the left side and severe nausea that is getting worse even though the pain has lessened in the last 24 hours. My doctor ordered the CT scan since I have a history of kidney stones. Can a CT scan miss the stones?
Avatar n tn Liver haemangioma is also a common condition which is usually discovered during a test or procedure for other condition. But it is usually asymptomatic. Tiredness, nausea and pain can be due to kidney stones also. You need a detailed work up to evaluate the cause of this liver mass and treatment will depend entirely on the cause. Consult an experienced surgeon. Hope it helps. Take care and good luck.
Avatar n tn I am not aware of kidney stones leading to such prolonged symptoms your father is experiencing, nor is Levaquin commonly associated with such symptoms. The upper endoscopy normally is a pretty comprehensive test, and if the results are non-revealing, you can consider a 24-hr pH study or motility study to exclude GERD or an esophageal motility disorder respectively. If the symptoms continue, I would recommend the second GI referral, preferably at a major academic medical center.
Avatar f tn The treatment for kidney stones depends on their size and what they are made of and also if they are causing pain or obstructing the urinary tract. Small stones usually pass through the urinary tract without treatment. It is good advice to stay well hydrated as that should prevent the stones from getting any bigger or new ones from forming. For kidney pain you may take a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug such as ibuprofen or naproxen .
Avatar f tn With your symptoms, I would advise you to see a urologist. It does sound like kidney stones, but either way, you need to have this taken care of.
Avatar n tn And about once a week, I have to pass a kidney stone, and its' extremely painful. The weird thing is that I don't get any of the symptoms of kidney stones, like nausea or extreme pain in my flank. The pain only occurs at the tip of my pee-tube when it's finally coming out. Okay, and that's just the kidney stone part - let me start on the constipation/metabolism parts: I'm always constipated, I go weeks without a bowel movement.
Avatar n tn My 15 year old daughter had a CT scan to check for kidney stones. The doctor told me the results showed stones in both kidneys...more in the right than in the left. Also showed a 4cm by 4cm cyst on the right ovary. She put her on birth control pills for a couple of cycles to see if the cyst goes away. So we are starting month 1 with the birth control pills, and waiting for an ultrasound in a month or two. As for the kidney stones...
Avatar f tn I am new to kidney stones. I passed my first kidney stone about 2 months ago and I know I have two more. A 2mm on one side and a 4 on the other side. The first one I had happened at night, so I woke up in pain. I am just wondering is there symptoms you can feel when you are awake. Just 4 days ago, I had 4 very sharp pains in the right side my back over a 2 hour period. Today I am hit with a wave of nausea.
Avatar f tn I'm a woman in my early twenties with GERD, ovarian cysts, annual kidney stones, lactose intolerance, and pellet stools. I began having lactose intolerance when I was a kid. I have had pellet stool since I can remember. Everything else appeared when I wasin my senior year of college. I've been on Nexium for 2 years. I do not take it everyday bc I know it's bad for you. I feel fine if I just take them 2 times a week. Tums and Prilosec does not work.
Avatar n tn Does anyone have any experience with a virus that seems to effect the colon with symptoms that would suggest kidney stones? Symptoms include lower left back pain also noted in the front left lower abdomen. Diarreha noted at onset but no fever or vomiting. Pain reoccurs for minutes to hours but is not debilitating. My family dr. suggested a type of dysentary that manifests itself in the colon trough. I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience with this type of ailment.

Avatar f tn Drink lots of warm water, and do kapalbhati pranayam for more than 20 minutes, twice a day. In a few weeks, the kidney stones will be flushed out. After the stones are out, let me know what other benefits you noticed, and I will suggest some techniques to stimulate the thyroid and parathyroid. Kapalbhati pranayam -(Do it before eating) Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute. Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second.
Avatar m tn you should do the renal ultrasound, sometimes kidney stones do give pain and other symptoms like nause. you can break stones with lithotripsy, or treat renal lithiasis with traditional Chinese medicine. You think it is wired pain on your right side, that could be the referred pain, or you have ever falled down recently or spend too much time sit on your chair for a long time? Did you ever find blood in your urine?
Avatar m tn It showed one +4mm kidney stones in my kidney. All my bloodwork and urine were fine. Was put on Flomax and told to screen my urine. All through the next two weeks i had constant pain in my left groin area but also had bursts of travelling pain from my kidney to my groin. Passed two smaller stones and several fragments. pain was increasing in my groin and started having nausea.
Avatar m tn Hi there. Most kidney stones less than 6mm in size can be treated conservatively. If pain, nausea and vomiting can be controlled, most of these stones will pass spontaneously. one must be well hydrated while trying to pass stone. Pain can be controlled with NSAIDs and narcotics on prescription if the pain is very distressing. the stone can be kept track of for weeks to months if there is no significant obstruction and if nausea and vomiting are tolerable and there is no active infection.
Avatar m tn Emerg visit this month showed (big surprise) on CT, two left kidney stones 2-3 mm, one in kidney and one between bladder and kidney. This is the first time CT has been done laying on stomach. If part of this has been kidney stones all along, why might I be getting severe abdominal bloat with these episodes? I have not passed stone yet (week 3) but put on Flomax 3 days ago and bloat seems to be reducing. Thanks for your suggestions.
