kidney-stones

Avatar n tn Hi, Renal calculi can vary in size from as small as grains of sand to as large as a golf ball. Kidney stones typically leave the body by passage in the urine stream, and many stones are formed and passed without causing symptoms. If stones grow to sufficient size before passage—on the order of at least 2-3 millimeters—they can cause obstruction of the ureter.
Avatar m tn I'm figuring that kidney stones take a while to form and that, if I have kidney stones and possibly an infection, it's likely that I had the kidney stones first and they contributed to the infection, rather that having an infection first that contributed to the kidney stones (sorry if this sounds confusing).
Avatar n tn Hi, It seems to be what is called renal colic, typically associated with stones in renal tract. Kidney stones, also called renal calculi, are solid concretions (crystal aggregations) of dissolved minerals in urine. Renal calculi can vary in size from as small as grains of sand to as large as a golf ball. Kidney stones typically leave the body by passage in the urine stream, and many stones are formed and passed without causing symptoms.
Avatar f tn You don't mention any urinary issues or symptoms? Have you had urinary infections or kidney stones in the past? When in doubt, always get a second opinion from a Urologist. Good luck to you.
472139 tn?1211336163 Hi, Renal calculi can vary in size from as small as grains of sand to as large as a golf ball. Kidney stones typically leave the body by passage in the urine stream, and many stones are formed and passed without causing symptoms. The resulting obstruction with dilation or stretching of the upper ureter and renal pelvis as well as spasm of muscle, trying to move the stone, can cause severe episodic pain, most commonly felt in the flank, lower abdomen and groin (a condition called renal colic).
278016 tn?1220194704 I have been having multiple health problems for four years shortly after having mono, and kidney stones which were a year and a half apart. Focusing on the kidneys they are constantly sore. When I eat certain foods, especially salty foods, i urinate even more frequently, and leak urine. I have been to a urologist and my bladder is perfectly healthy.

Avatar f tn The stones are generally painless, and you probably won't know you have them unless they cause a blockage or are being passed. Then, there's usually no mistaking the symptomskidney stones, especially, can cause excruciating pain. Bladder or kidney stones can also cause both gross and microscopic bleeding. Enlarged prostate. The prostate gland — located just below the bladder and surrounding the top part of the urethra — often begins growing as men approach middle age.
Avatar n tn Hi, It does seem to me like you are having stones in the kidney. The symptom of pain you have described is very typical of it trying to be expelled from the body. Symptoms of kidney stones include colicky pain: "loin to groin". Often described as "the worst pain ever experienced." Other symptoms could be blood in the urine, due to minor damage to inside wall of kidney, ureter and/or urethra. Pyuria: pus in the urine. Dysuria: burning on urination when passing stones.
Avatar f tn Hi, The absence of one kidney (unilateral renal agenesis) is much more common, but is not usually of any major concern, as long as the other kidney is healthy. This has nothing to do with the infection but since he has only one the sooner the condition can be rectified the better for him. Normally even if one kidney is damaged or absent a person taking much care can lead an almost normal life.
Avatar n tn Hi, You need to consult a doctor to rule out appendicitis, kidney stones, diverticulitis, crohn's disease, pelvic inflammatory disease etc. The further plan of management would involve - '-Blood tests including full blood count, electrolytes, urea, creatinine, liver function tests, pregnancy test and lipase.

Avatar f tn In 2001 I did have kidney stones which no one could find for 2 years. Turned out I had two that I partially passed to my bladder and never went through. They found it only because I had one in my kidney...
Avatar n tn Sometimes kidney stones will sit on the floor of the bladder and give this sensation, Ive passed a few kidney stones, and occasionally they give this same symptom, extremely annoying, all i can say is to drink plenty of fluids, and if this is the problem, the stone will eventually pass.
Avatar f tn Kidney stones can cause nausea. Are you also having pain in your back, just under your rib cage? Any blood in your urine? What are your doctors doing? They saw "something" on the scan, which they thought MIGHT be a stone.........are they having you screen your urine to see if you are passing any stones? What is their plan? Did you tell them about the vomiting? If not, I would suggest you do so as soon as possible.

Avatar n tn 2) I would also like to mention that my girlfriend and I did wait until her yeast infection symptoms subsided to resume sexual activity. 3) I also had several kidney stones that I passed in July of 2008. Do you think I could possibly have more kidney stones? 4) I do not know if these problems could be anxiety related or not. I am simply searching for answers. I thank you again for your timely reply.
696092 tn?1238620367 HPT did affect my thyroid but no nodules to my knowledge...It also gave me hypercalcemia, kidney stones, period weirdness, back and joint pain, gall stones, headaches, heartburn, and having to urinate every 25 minutes...Oh, gut trouble too...(I'm sure there was more that I've blissfully forgotten!). The Sestamibi scan is no big deal. You have a prescan, (I didn't even have to get undressed!), get an IV injection of isotopes, hang out for 20 mins, and then get scanned again.
Avatar n tn I have a history of kidney stones which I pass about every 5 years. I have tried losing weight which has never been a problem but I cannot lose weight and I feel starved and weak when I do diet even though I am eating healthy. My breasts are swollen. I have terrible itching in the vaginal area. I saw a doctor about a year ago who ran a urinary test and I did have a UTI which I usually get and she also ran a stool sample to check for parasites.
509877 tn?1315365294 She had kidney stones...lots of them. Back then, they opened you up surgically to remove kidney stones. She had multiple operations to remove the stones. Eventually, they removed all of her parathyroid glands except one...they regulate the calcium in your body. They put the last parathyroid gland in her forearm, so they could get to it easier surgically in case her calcium rose again. In time it disappeared, but she keep having high calcium levels and kidney stones.
5138647 tn?1364235935 I was crying and screaming and couldn't walk or move because it would hurt worse. I have passed 3 kidney stones at the same time once and didn't cry. I have never felt pain like this. I ended up taking something to knock me out because I couldn't move or get up to go to the hospital and I wouldn't let my husband pick me up, it hurt way too bad. When I woke up this morning the pain wasn't as bad as it was last night but I still hurt.
Avatar n tn I have no children as I would not wish my condition on my worst enemy. I have Cystinuria, by the way. I make kidney-stones big and fast, and I require surgery about once a month on average to have them removed as they're too big to pass naturally. Sorry for the bad news Sister. There's a 50/50 chance your children will come out with what you have. Now, the decision is yours... do you want to take the chance? I didn't want to...
Avatar n tn Just an FYI-I was tested a year ago and there was a lot of microscopic blood at that time also. At the ER they did a CT scan and ruled out Kidney stones. My questions are: 1. Are Hematuria and ovulation related?? If so how? 2. If it is IC, how come I don't have any symptoms in one part of the month? 3 I recently got an ultrasound of my female parts done. ONe of them was on top of my abdomen and for the other I had to stick a camera into my vagina.
Avatar m tn Hi Thanks for writing to the forum! This looks more like a referred pain of kidney stones that is felt in the testis. There could be a stone anywhere in the urinary system on the left side. An ultrasound of the lower abdomen will be able to rule out kidney stones.Pain in testicle could also be due to infection, like prostatitis, epididymitis or orchitis. Get a culture sensitivity test for both semen and urine done.
