977806 tn?1249067346 The midnight teeth grinding is not something you'd ever notice but the dentist will. After all, you're asleep and not concious of what's going on during sleep. If you have him do an impression for a biteguard when he fixes the tooth, you'll know that nothing else should happen to your teeth while you're on the riba. It's a little like a kid's retainer. Mine is small and thin and only covers the top front teeth, keeping the back teeth from touching at all.
1947337 tn?1331423890 I can't speak for everyone else but I do have jaw pain. It's my left side mostly and I get constant ear aches from it too. I believe it's from clenching for me. So my jaw is always very stiff too. In the mornings are the worst. I had to get a mouth guard. I've not had surgery either so if you had maybe others can chime in and let you know if they had this issue after surgery.
Avatar n tn You know I may also be TMJ, that's what I have, the worst case. I get pain in my jaw, headaches, sometimes throat pain, and ear pain, and back pain, you'll know if you have it by pressure on your side jaw(both sides) Just my oppinion.
Avatar n tn You may have TMJ or just some jaw sensitivity from the dental work you have had done and from having your mouth opened so wide for a long period of time while the dentist worked on your teeth. I had this same problem and had jaw joint pain for 10 months after having 1 tooth crowned! I am searching for answers myself now, but I won't be having in more injections unless I'm dead!
Avatar m tn I also had all 4 of my impacted wisdom teeth removed this past Monday Nov. 10th, and it is now Saturday. The pain is excruciating and unbearable. I was given a prescription for hydrocodone but get no relief whatsoever. I called my dentist office yesterday to let them know I am still suffering and they had me come in immediately to check my progress out. Of course everything looks wonderful and she said the healing process is going right at the pace it should be and inquired on my pain.
Avatar dr m tn I have dental crowding. It causes some disalinement of my teeth. After 4 extractions, one on either side, top and bottom my teeth have closed the gap. I don't know if this is relevant but there are times if I open my mouth wide my jaw feels like it is locked. It is several seconds before I can get it to close.
Avatar n tn I am having diffculties opening my mouth because of the pain and soreness. What I need to know is this normal to have pain in the jaw area after a wisdom tooth extraction? And if so, how long should I expect to experience this pain?
Avatar f tn i have severe jaw pain. was diagnosed with TMJ a few months back but i think i have had it for awhile longer. i grind my teeth severely at night. my pain is getting worse. what type of doc do i see for this?
Avatar f tn Yes, but I had a cavity and it was fine for me to have a local anesthetic and a filling. But I do know there is a condition you can get in pregnancy where your jaw gives you tooth pain, especially if you've had a clicky jaw before, and common around 1st trimester when the relaxin hormones kick in. You can probably google it.
Avatar m tn hi i get jaw pain alot at night. i have a nite guard from the dentist but it doesnt always help. i get some bad headaches which is muscle pain as i get bothersome shoulders. and advil and tylenol dont help at all. the smornig i woke up and my left ear feels full. it was really itchy inside but only the outside of the ear hurts not the inside at all. i can feel that my jaw joint has like a knot in it. its the headaches i cant stand.
Avatar f tn You could have TMJ which you can get from having teeth pulled. I would ask that you have a CT scan and then an MRI as this is the best way to show it on test. Does your jaw pop at all? My uncle had all his teeth pulled and got dentures and he was having this pain too and he was diagnosed with TMJ. Any small fracture of the jaw area can cause this such as having teeth pulled.
Avatar f tn No jaw pain but now you mention it I've got slightly sensitive teeth. Hope your jaw ache passes quickly.
Avatar m tn I have a strange sensation along my jaw it is like a strong pulse and dull pain. It moves around, along the top of the jaw, underneath the jaw. Comes and goes. I had this about 6 years ago for a few weeks, then it went away, it came back about a month ago, once again lasted a week then left. Both these times I was under stress/anxiety and I put it down to that. This time, it has come back again, but I am not stressed or worried, So I have no idea what it is.
440535 tn?1312368065 When I started the Chiari issues I had just dislocated my jaw and hit my head and the jaw pain was causing tooth pain. They thought I might be clenching at night so I ended up with a bite guard at night and it helped greatly with tooth pain! Since you have a tight neck with Chiari it just makes sense that it will also be jaw issues so maybe teeth? Just frustrating how much pain can be in the neck area! :) Good luck!
659608 tn?1318289366 It is however more than possible that you could have an infection in your jaw, say, from an impacted or infected wisdom tooth. Tooth pain can often make the ear and neck hurt as well (just as an ear infection can make the teeth hurt...). There is also the possibility that there is nothing wrong with you dentally either and you are suffering from neuralgic pain.
1402335 tn?1280877356 omg my jaw clicks and it hurts alot when I yawn or take a bite of something like a burger or whatever ...sometimes I can't even bite down all the way. It does it all the time, worse this past 6 months or so. It's been happening for about 2 years. it's horrible. what is that??
Avatar m tn Although my gums are sore the terrible pain is from my left jaw. Also I have noticed that my lower left side of my jaw on my face feels puffy.
Avatar m tn s a very good idea to seek therapy ~ it can make a world of difference in your life! Regarding the jaw pain; clenching jaw muscles can affect your neck and jaw, it is actually a common symptom for many people who suffer from anxiety. If it is extreme, you can ask your dentist for a mouth guard, which can help reduce the pain and also save your teeth from any future damage ( use it at night while you sleep, or if you nap anytime)...
Avatar m tn RA can affect your jaw, but if it's ONLY your jaw, I wouldn't jump to conclusions. In general, RA manifests with fever, overall body aches/fatigue, and swelling/redness/pain in more than one joint. Typically, to my knowledge, it rarely starts in the jaw. It'll be your knees, feet, or hands/wrists first. Jaw tightness and pain could simple be stress from worrying about the incident.
Avatar n tn I get jaw pain...other people have said they do as well. Mine is not frequent though, so I don't do anything about it. Here's a previous post about jaw pain, in case it can help you: http://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn The pain now is thru neighboring teeth into my cheeks and it is sharp. Second the pain is thru the front of the jaw and teeth as well. The jaw area in the back in also a little tender still. Not sure what I should do next. I have seen my OS three times already and OS said that the area is healing nicely, doesn't look like any infections there. Can you help please...
Avatar m tn ok i search today and if u will write "JAW BONE INFECTION"in the search bar.u will got some jaw bone infection.but i think that u should go with ur dentist.
Avatar f tn My jaw cracks more then usual when chewing but I think its the weather changing not due to being pregnant.
Avatar f tn t see me for another 6 months now after 2 weeks of antibiotics and the swelling going down I woke up to the whole side of my face from jaw to eye being swollen, throwing up and my nose is stuffed up. I'm not in any pain though just really sick is this from the abscess spreading or am I just catching cold on top of everything?
Avatar n tn Recently I have been having pain on both sides of my jaw and up the back of my head. It started off on the right side making my face feel numb and then gave me shooting pain in the side of my head and down my neck. I have also been feeling like my ears are clogged or there is a lot of pressure in my head. I constantly feel as if I have been given a numbing medication because my teeth feel numb. I know that sounds weird but it feels like my mouth and teeth have been numbed.
