Avatar m tn Per my experience there are few doctors that really take the time that we need to properly diagnose jaw pain. There seems to be a quick easy direction to the TMJ when it may not be. If you have had any trauma to your face or its a birth defect you may have what happened to me. I cant remember the name of the bone but it sticks up from the lower jaw and its long.
Avatar n tn yes he should go 2 the hospital i suffered a severe blow 2 head a couple of years ago & numbness 2 the hands was one of my 1st indicators that something was very wrong , your brother doesnt sound as serious but should really be checked out. good luck hope all turns out well.
Avatar m tn s been about a month now since this whole thing started, and there are many factors that I think may be relevant. First off, the pain starts on my right side just where the head meets the neck, and radiates forward. I had a sinus infection that I was on antibiotics for - it was focused behind my eyes. I missed a day but finished the last three pills after that - I woke up out of nowhere with a headache radiating from that area, but all the way across the back (not on only one side).
Avatar n tn I have had ringing in the ears for quite some time. I have pain in my left jaw and ear. Both ears seam "full". When I talk I can hear myself like when you have a cold. I have been diagnosed with TMJ and I am now going to a special physical therapist for TMJ. THis is starting help the jaw pain. Prior to that I had seen a doctor who gave me a mouth piece to wear to help align my jaw and help the TMJ. Another symptom I have is the loss of smell which in turn gives me a loss of taste.
Avatar f tn Headaches that occur within one to two days after head trauma are relatively common. Usually, there is generalized dull, aching, constant discomfort with intermittent exacerbations, vertigo, lightheadedness, inability to concentrate, problems with memory, becoming tired quickly, and irritability. Post-trauma headaches may continue for up to a few months, although headaches that are not beginning to improve within a week or two after a traumatic event should be evaluated.
Avatar m tn Hi, Couple weeks ago I found out that I need 4 fillings to be done. ( 2 fillings for upper second and first molar and 2 fillings for lower third and first molar. Both left side. ) I had 2 upper fillings just a week ago without injection, it was fine, no pain at all. Yesterday I went to my dentist appointment and told that I don't need an injection, sadly it was too painful so dentist injected me couple times of some stuff.
Avatar n tn I had my wisdom teeth removed about 1 month ago and a few days ago, I awoke with pain in my left jaw joint. Since then, it hurts to open my mouth wide in the jaw joint and down under my jaw as well. I also have felt a little tingle in my face in that area when I open wide and hear a small click in my jaw. Does this sound like TMJ and could it be related to the surgery? Should I contact my oral surgeon or a dentist that specializes in this?
Avatar m tn The headaches and pain in my head are 24 - 7 in only gets bad once in awhile, if you have moderate pain you get use to it, at least I do I used to race motorcycles. Now if I can work on the white matter thing then it will all make sense. Oh and another thing the hospitals will not do anything for me to. I apoligize for the rambling but its the head injury.
Avatar m tn Can someone just explain why i would feel pain in my head when i tap my jaw with my hand. Anywere on my jaw if i hit it with my hand i feel a jolt of pain in my head?? But i can move my jaw around perfectly so i know its not a jaw problem its almost like something is vibrating into my skull when i hit my jaw.
Avatar n tn It started about 8month ago. Now the pain inside ear is stronger and pain ander the jaw. But, it is not constant. I have a lot of stress at work now and think that it can be the stress. I went to 2 ENT, did MRI, wnet 5 times to my enternal and no one found anythihg. My entrnal prescribed me Mobic antiinflamattory drug. I will try it.Also, the area around the ear feels tender. It all drives me crazy since no one has any answer.
Avatar n tn precipitation of head pain by neck movement or awkward neck positions, head pain when external pressure is applied to the neck or occipital region, restricted range of motion of the neck, and neck, shoulder and arm pain. Treatment for cervicogenic headache includes physical therapy, medications, behavioral therapy, and other modalities. Avatar n tn the dr gave me a acetamino/codeine antibiotic, and I take pain killer every 3 hours and get no relief. Mostly jaw pain and throbbing head. Can this be normal or is something serious wrong. It's the wknd so cannot call in. Thanks.
Avatar f tn See if a chiro can adjust your jaw. I was amazed at how quickly my headache, neck and shoulder pain went away after one adjustment - less than 10 minutes. I am very serious. I only recommend chiros for musculo-skeletal isssues. I highly recommend them as somethinge to try for TMJ and sciatic nerve issues. Other that, I pretty much stay away from them. It might be both TMJ and a sinus infection though. Feel better.

Avatar m tn I have had chronic head pain that does not let up for the past four years. I have seen several doctors, tried chriopractor, Dentist. I cannot get a diagnosis for tghis pain. It feels like the pain you would have with a severe sinus infection along with all of my upper teeth constantly hurting, and the feeling of a deep ear ache. I am looking for anybody that has these same symtons and would like to know what you do for controlling the pain. I have tried several medications and none seem to help.
Avatar f tn Hi, How are you? Can you elaborate/describe your headache? Was there any trauma to your head or neck? Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Headaches presents with muscle-contraction type of pain, sometimes accompanied by a painful "clicking" sound on opening the jaw. This can also be an Infrequent cause of headache and may be due to malocclusion (poor bite), stress, and jaw clenching. Try to relax, use Ice packs, pain relievers and identify possible sources of headache triggers.
Avatar f tn The extraction site seems to be healing well but I am getting severe intermident pain in both my upper and lower jaws. When it starts, the pain seems to radiate from the lower jaw to upper. I take 10mg norco for unrelated health issues as well as advil and a prescription NSAID with no relief at all. I went to the dentist today and he said dry socket, however the stuff he gave me hasnt done a thing (and the clot is still there).
Avatar n tn and that it should not be causing me pain. Long story kind of short visit after visit after root canal after surgically removal of "stubby tooth" after wisdom teeth removal I am STILL having pain. The area under my jaw bone where the tooth used to be feels swollen and throbs pretty constantly unless I take ibuprofen. Also when I "probe" the area with my tongue I feel something hard(i'm assuming the cementoma)and experience "EXTREME" pain.
Avatar f tn BUT, clicking in your jaw and pain might be tension and clenching teeth at night while you sleep. Those are common symptoms of that. The back pain is not unusual, we all get that sometimes.. TMJ is not really arthritis and again, is due to clenching often. medicinenet. Try something like ibuprofen to see if it helps, try an ice pack for pain too and avoid chewing gum. If you were to have arthritis due to your weight, I'd expect it to be more in your knees.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am a 25 yo female and had my wisdom teeth taken out 1 month ago. I had the two lowers removed (both impacted) and felt that the majority of the site was fully healed 2 weeks after surgery. \However, on Friday night (about 3.5 weeks after surgery) I heard a weird crick/pop in my jaw when going to eat a piece of bread that felt somewhat painful but didn't think anything of it.
