Common Questions and Answers about Jaw pain after head injury

jaw-pain

Avatar m tn i know that this sounds crazy but after I released the pressure by relaxing my jaw I felt a sharp pain on the top of my head eventhough I was putting all the pressure on my temple...a few days later I closed only my left eye and felt a snapping or popping sensation above my left eye in the temple area(I both heard and felt this snap).
Avatar m tn If you have pain persisting in temple area and get pain on opening your mouth wide, you are probably suffering from TMJ or temporomandibular joint disorder due to the injury. In this your jaw joint is inflamed and causes pain in temple area with dizziness. To get some relief you can try massaging the sore muscles. You have to press on muscles of your face to look for sore points. Then massage these points with short strokes.
Avatar n tn Hi, About 20 yrs ago i was in a really violent relationship, where i received numerous injuries including a broken jaw, i was stabbed in the head, hit around the the head with the butt of a gun numerous punches to the head, but for the last couple of years my head-aches have been getting very intense & very regular. I went to see my doctor about this & to my utter amazement I was told it was all in my head (Err i think i knw that)..
Avatar f tn On a daily basis I get pulsing and sharp pain. The top of my head on my right side is really, really sensitive to the touch and it goes all the way down to my face. Around my cheek bone and jaw area. I'm not sure what this is but any help I can get would really be appreciated. Thank you in advance for taking time to respond to my question.
552525 tn?1393715888 What is this spongy dent on the back of my head and should I be concerned? I have a previous head injury that I got in 2002 when I was attacked by a mental health patient while I was delivering medications on the weekend.
Avatar n tn what does it mean when you slip and fall and hit your head off the floor and now you are having shooting pain throughout your head, neck, and jaw. And also you are very dizzy and shaking?
Avatar m tn Your pain may be due to a combination of factors, such as genetics, arthritis or jaw injury. Some people who have jaw pain also tend to clench or grind their teeth, although many people habitually clench or grind their teeth and never develop TMJ disorders. In most cases, the pain and discomfort associated with TMJ disorders is temporary and can be relieved with self-managed care or nonsurgical treatments.
Avatar f tn Saturday night I was going to a friends house in Long Island and it had just snowed but it was then raining at the moment. I was walking down a ramp of the house and I slid down flat on my behind and banged the back of my head on the wooden ramp. The center of the back of my head hurts if you touch it but there is no lump there which I find unusual. The crazy part is that my front and back of the neck feels stiff as well as my jaw. It hurts so much even if I sneeze.

Avatar m tn I too am having similar when I turn my head to the right, I get a sharp pain that's last just a few seconds on my right temple ..let me know if you find out anything I had an injury 3 years ago when my jaw was hit hard several times at the Dentist .I am wondering if there is any connection ...
Avatar m tn I think it is important that I relay some important information from the first half of the question that is posted elsewhere....I caused this injury(sharp pain in top of head above temple) by putting pressure up there using my jaw by extending it downward and putting alot of force into it. This was due to an anxiety attack I was experiencing...sometimes I can control my anxiety and let it go and other times I do stupid things like putting pressure on my temple using my jaw and facial muscles....
Avatar n tn Sounds like you have a subluxion injury in addition to a head injury. Nothing is typical of a siezure. But that is JUST A GUESS. The "calcification" term PRONABLE refers to a narrowing of a nerve passageway in the cervical area through calcium deposits.
Avatar f tn Hello. One week ago, I had two small cavities filled in my lower jaw on the right-hand side. I felt no pain during the procedure, and that night I felt only the pain that's typical after this kind of procedure. I had the procedure done Tuesday afternoon, and then Thursday afternoon I began to feel a pain that spread out over the area where the anesthesia was. My upper and lower jaw, the area around my ear, that all hurt.

But i can move my jaw around perfectly so i know its not a jaw problem its almost like something is vibrating into my skull when i hit my jaw.

Avatar m tn I have had chronic head pain that does not let up for the past four years. I have seen several doctors, tried chriopractor, Dentist. I cannot get a diagnosis for tghis pain. It feels like the pain you would have with a severe sinus infection along with all of my upper teeth constantly hurting, and the feeling of a deep ear ache. I am looking for anybody that has these same symtons and would like to know what you do for controlling the pain. I have tried several medications and none seem to help.
Avatar n tn thanks for the reply, no i didn't hurt my head in the accident, so if it was a neck or back injury it wouldn't effect the face as it is above it? didn't know that, thought they would be connected to the face too? could it be muscle tens/spasm or even anxiety?
Avatar m tn Every time i hit a strong bump in the road or do anything that send a vibration through my body up to my head i feel a sharp pain on the sides of the back of my head. Anything from making a tackle in football or punching a heavy bag or even biting down on a hard piece of candy will trigger the pain that im feeling. I have noticed that if i hit my jaw not even hard even if i merely tap it i feel the pain or if i hit the back sides of my head with my hands i also feel the pain.

Avatar m tn Nerve function may recover spontaneously as time goes by. It may take 4-12 weeks. However, after 6 months of injury, if there is no improvement, condition may become permanent. At this moment, systemic administration of corticosteroid, amitryptline, gabapentin, nutritional supplements, such as ,Vitamin B1, B6, B12, folic acid, omega3 fatty acid, may help early resume normal function.
Avatar m tn Half of it was done last week and the other half this week. Starting about the 5th day after the first side was done I started having pain on that side. I went back to the dentist for the other half, they looked at the painful side, checked the teeth, checked the x-rays, they said there was no sign of infection and that I should use OTC medication to help. Now, a few days later this pain on the original side is not getting better. There is no redness or swelling.
