Avatar f tn Despite trying antihistamines, Valsalva maneuver, sucking on candy, chewing gum, steaming, and nasal sprays, I am still suffering with ear pain. My doctor says there is no infection. The pain is relieved only when I open my mouth. Anyone have any idea of what's going on with my ear?
Avatar m tn I have had a nagging pain in the back of my mouth for almost 3 months now. The pain is located in the hard palate area above my molars on the right side. Dental X-rays have revealed that nothing is wrong. My wisdom teeth are still intact, but 3 dentists and 2 oral surgeons have assured me that they do not need to come out and would not be causing the pain. The pain is like a sharp pressure in that area of my mouth. Almost feels like a sinus infection in that palate/gum region.

When I try to open my mouth fully, the pain is very severe and also, I have headache, the pain is near the eyebrow and behind my neck. I have on and off fever and chills and also nauseousness and dizziness sometimes.
Avatar n tn My mouth will not open and close evenly and when I lay down my jaw locks up and I can’t open my mouth. When I’m up it always pops on the right side opening and closing my mouth while talking and chewing. I would like to know why it does this and what is causing this and if it can be treated. I am in pain everyday with this problem and it is very frustrating. It started a few years ago and it is getting worse. Please help!! Thanks!!
998476 tn?1249839997 It may be that the jaw or muscles that open your mouth are traumatized by the extractions. Try to take pain medication, ice/warm pack the muscles and try to stretch it out from time to time. Also, let your doctor know in case its an infection and antibiotics are needed. Try to go on a soft or liquid diet and your opening should increase gradually but it may take up to several weeks to fully open again.

And I would like to know some treatments to get rid of, It's kind of sad when I can't even stick a spoon, or a french fry in my mouth. Please Help me, I would really appreciate it. Symptoms now: 1.
Avatar f tn I have also a migraine condition but is not related to that pain when my mouth is open. Also I have the condition of orthoarthritis. This pain is only when opening my mouth and also when laughing and having lot of fun. I must suspend laughing immediately. Thanks for any support.
Avatar m tn A week has gone by from all four impacted wisdom teeth were surgically removed. My jaw on the right side feels like it is locked. I can only open my jaw 1 inch. When I try to open it farther I get excruciating pain and it won't open. Left side is fine. I was very swollen the first three days after surgery. What should I do?
Avatar f tn Hi, combination of your ear pain and the jaw pain could be due to sinus congestion. There are many cases where individuals that suffering from sinus congestion also experience pressure in the ear, with earaches and even jaw pain. The earaches you are having may be an infection in the ear due to blocked sinuses. Other causes of aw pain can be due to infection of salivary gland like parotitis, infected foci, osteoporosis related jaw disarticulation or fracture.
2112219 tn?1334286044 I am a 27 year old female. Smoker (though trying to quit), but normalish health wise. For about 3 months now I have noticed a pain, right in the soft spot at the top of the jaw, directly behind my ear lobe. When it started it was infrequent and lasted only a few minutes and was only mildly annoying. Now it happens every day, pretty much all day, though it is worse at night. It is a pulsing/stabing pain.
Avatar f tn You may have some difficult opening and closing due to the trauma of the extraction to your jaw/TMJ area. Try putting some heat packs on it and stretch it out gently and treat it like a muscle injury. Try to eat softer foods to alleviate the stress on the muscle as well. Take the pain medication. I would call your dentist and let them know. They may prescribe some anti-inflammatories to help with the swelling and pain.
Avatar f tn The problem is i only heard it pop one time after that my jaw started tighting it keep my mouth opening big due to the tightning also the pain that why i think i may have dislocated jaw
Avatar n tn Also a sensation that my tounge is too large in my mouth. I now also have a very distinct Tremor in my lower jaw and my mouth seems to be watering a lot. It imptoves slightly if I eat. I was diagnosed earlier in the year with Thyroiditis. Which supposedly got better. I have a serious brain fog and my eyes are very light sensitive. I have struggled with frequent herpes virus out breaks for over 30years. Could I be getting Mild meningitis?
Avatar n tn I had my lower left side wisdom tooth removed about a week and five days ago and I am slowly experiencing more and more pain in my upper jaw area. I am having diffculties opening my mouth because of the pain and soreness. What I need to know is this normal to have pain in the jaw area after a wisdom tooth extraction? And if so, how long should I expect to experience this pain?
Avatar f tn If there point tenderness and pain on opening the mouth, your symptoms could be due to temporomandibular (TMJ) joint arthritis. This is the jaw joint and inflammation of this joint can cause pin on opening the mouth and tenderness on palpating behind the ear. If you have had a recent throat infection, it could also be due to lymph node enlargement. It could also be due to local causes like tooth infections, tooth abscess or periodontal disease.
Avatar m tn The procedure took about 45 mins and during the drilling phase, I started to get a build up of pain in my lower jaw, which I initailly attributed to the cold water that is used during the drilling process. 5 days after the filling was done, I was still getting a lot of pain from both the tooth and my lower jaw. The tooth that was filled is extremely sensitive to the cold air test and the dentist suspects that there may be an infection in the tooth and has put me on a course of amoxycilin.
Avatar m tn Hi, You could have an ear or tooth infection either way i would see a doctor fairly soon.
Avatar n tn I now have a huge hole in my mouth where a large drain was inserted to get rid of the infection -- all the way from my jaw to my cheek. The infection from your tooth has spread to various tissues throughout your mouth and face, and if left untreated, will spread to your brain or your neck. In either case, you will become very, very sick, Never ignore dental pain. It can kill you.
Avatar n tn t remember my first encounter with such pain, but I remember it being very painful. I remember very well that when I would open my mouth, my jaw would lock. I had to open my mouth at its fullest to unlock my jaw. It clicked very frequently. It would lock for one day the disappear for a few days then resume. Then in January of 2016, my jaw locked and I was unable to unlock it. I spent a good 15 minutes trying to get it back to normal. It finally did so later.
13831784 tn?1431660603 I have a white sore in my mouth. Way in the back on the area where the top of my jaw intersects with the bottom of my jaw on the left side. I have had it for literally at least 3 months and it will not heal. It hurts so bad. The sore itself hurts, but it is making my whole jaw ache. Also my left ear is swollen at the opening. It is almost swelled shut. I am not sure if they are related. I do not have insurance so that is why I have not seen a physician. I do not even have a regular doctor.
451674 tn?1205658922 The problem I have is the first bite of food I put in my mouth causes SEVERE pain in joints of my jaw. This pain is excrutiating at first, I have to grab my jaws just to be able to handle the pain. It doesnt last long, maybe about 10 seconds. The dentist told me it was caused from my jaw being out of line, having so many missing back teeth. She said I could have surgery, where they would break my jaw and realign it. Whatever!! No one is breaking my jaw. I just live with it unfortunatly.
Avatar n tn hey all im 15 and i was jus wondering if it was possible 4 me 2 have a wisdom tooth at my age and im having jaw pain and all my molars are loose, could this be causing the jaw pain(it hurts only when i yawn or open my mouth too fast) thx
978175 tn?1304439383 Intermittent periods of mild, high-pitched tinnitus lasting for several minutes are common in normal hearing persons.
