If it is extreme, you can ask your dentist for a mouth guard, which can help reduce the pain and also save your teeth from any future damage ( use it at night while you sleep, or if you nap anytime)...
AT THE END OF APRIL, THE PAIN RETURNED. MY ORAL SURGEON CHECKED ME AGAIN, AS DID MY REGULAR DENTIST. IN ADDITION TO THE JAW PAIN, I WAS HAVING EAR PAIN, AND THE GUM AREA (WHERE THE TOOTH WAS) WAS VERY SORE. THE ORAL SURGEON REFERRED ME TO A GUM SPECIALIST WHO SAID MY GUM LOOKED OK, BUT I MIGHT NEED AN INPLANT. THE EAR PAIN CONTINUED, SO I WAS SENT TO AN ENT DOCTOR WHO SAID MY EAR LOOKED FINE.
My oral surgeon suggested some exercises I could do and it did help a little. The instant headache pain i had went away because the regular jaw joint pain I was having suddenly didn't reach my right eye . I have had no improvement since and my o/s wants me to start therapy. Will this help ? Starting to think there will be no end to this , each meal is painful , getting really sick of this.
Went back to dentists he took out my tooth and said I did not need antibiotics anymore as infection if present will drain out. I have a swelling on left side on jaw, pain is serious had no proper sleep for 4 days now, pain is in jaw and now in my head and underneath my left earlobe is excruciating. I contacted emergency dental hospital yesterday and left message on answering machine yesterday for advise but no reply as yet. Please help me, why am I in such pain and what should I do next.
You know I may also be TMJ, that's what I have,the worst case. I get pain in my jaw, headaches, sometimes throat pain, and ear pain, and back pain, you'll know if you have it by pressure on your side jaw(both sides) Just my oppinion.
hi, i had infection in my left jaw a year ago without any decay so i had to change my cap of three back molars. now i have an infection in my right hand side jaw and there is a lymph node which you can feel it when touched. the pain was too much and and the dentist put me on an antibiotic for five days. he says the pain will go away in ten days. but i am worried about the lymph node will it actually dissolve?

hi i get jaw pain alot at night. i have a nite guard from the dentist but it doesnt always help. i get some bad headaches which is muscle pain as i get bothersome shoulders. and advil and tylenol dont help at all. the smornig i woke up and my left ear feels full. it was really itchy inside but only the outside of the ear hurts not the inside at all. i can feel that my jaw joint has like a knot in it. its the headaches i cant stand.

over the next month, sore went away, jaw went down, but had allover hot feeling and muscle pain, this went away after 2 weeks and then the jaw swelled up again! seems to get better, then worse, etc. dr thinks some kind of virus....i think it was caused by the cleaning, as i didn't have anything until after that....could that have been it,? thanks!

I saw my dentist who said he could see no sign of infection but put me on penicillin. I explained that my lower jaw was also really sore. Over night however, I was extremely sick and on Wednesday the dentist changed my meds. On Thursday my face near my jaw really swelled but my teeth no longer hurt like they did. That pain is now bearable. Today I saw my doctor who also could see no obvious signs of infection even though my ear and throat now hurt.
It feels like the pain you would have with a severe sinus infection along with all of my upper teeth constantly hurting, and the feeling of a deep ear ache. I am looking for anybody that has these same symtons and would like to know what you do for controlling the pain. I have tried several medications and none seem to help. I take pain pills regularly just because they are the lesser of the two evils but would love to find an alternative as the pain poills make me sick constantly.
A doctor a year ago performed endodontic surgery in my lower jaw and removed infected tissue and bone in my lower four teeth. But infection again developed resulting in Jaw bone infection. I want to ask whether one year infection in bone can be cured with medicine and is clindamycin best for it or there is surgery required to remove the dead and infected bone. When I was 9 years old I was invovled in a head on motorcycle accident in which my left jaw was crushed. During reconstructive surgery an infection was introduced and I lost my jaw for about 2 years while they doctors battled the infection. It was finally rebuilt using a rib graft. A lot of cutting was done on my face and neck. Now at the age of 50 I am experiencing severe jaw pain in that jaw, neck pain on that same side, tongue cramping and severe tongue pain.
You have partially recovered from the upper respiratory tract infection. Also, it appears that you are having infection of the external ear (Otitis externa) or left TMJ problems. Try taking muclolytics (such as bromhexine/ambroxyl), pain relievers (such as Ibuprofen/diclofenac), saline nasal drops, steam inhalation, drink plenty of warm water and avoid chewing on the left side. Consult your doctor for the detailed examination and further management.
It sounds like an ear infection to me. Your ears are connected to your nose and throat, so it's likely your jaw pain can be radiated pain from those areas.
But I would definitely go and speak with a doctor about it, because letting an ear infection run without antibiotics, if it's not clearing up on its own, can be detrimental to your hearing.
I am in good general health. A month ago I noticed I am a bit tired and lightheaded on daily walks. (I am not dehydrated). I've also noticed a slight discomfort right side near ribs, not pain, just uncomfortable. Lately its alot more pronounced.
I have always had sensitive teeth(receeding gums)and the last few days I have noticed a huge ramp up in sensitivity and actual pain at night keeping me awake on same side as rib pain.
You may have an infection. The infection could also be in your jaw and not the tooth. I have one in my jaw right now it's terribly painful and I was gievn a combination of 2 different antibiotics to treat it. If you need a root canal they will go through the crowns I had it done yesterday. The x-rays don't tell them if there is infection they go on symptoms and other diagnostic tests tapping the tooth, ice, and a few others.
The swelling indicated that the abscess has spread out of the jaw bone and into the surround jaw/face area. This can travel quickly through the head and be a dangerous situation. Best to go to the ER to get it checked out before it becomes worse. I would also recommend getting the offending wisdom tooth out as soon as possible to prevent any future risk.
Can someone just explain why i would feel pain in my head when i tap my jaw with my hand. Anywere on my jaw if i hit it with my hand i feel a jolt of pain in my head?? But i can move my jaw around perfectly so i know its not a jaw problem its almost like something is vibrating into my skull when i hit my jaw.
