Tooth pain can often make the ear and neck hurt as well (just as an ear infection can make the teeth hurt...). There is also the possibility that there is nothing wrong with you dentally either and you are suffering from neuralgic pain.
Avatar m tn s a very good idea to seek therapy ~ it can make a world of difference in your life! Regarding the jaw pain; clenching jaw muscles can affect your neck and jaw, it is actually a common symptom for many people who suffer from anxiety. If it is extreme, you can ask your dentist for a mouth guard, which can help reduce the pain and also save your teeth from any future damage ( use it at night while you sleep, or if you nap anytime)...
Avatar n tn I WENT BACK AFTER 2 WEEKS FOR A FOLLOW-UP AND THE RESULTS FROM THE BIOPSY OF THAT AREA. IT REVEALED I HAD A BONE INFECTION IN MY JAW BONE. I WAS SENT TO AN INFECTIOUS DISEASE DOCTOR WHO PRESCRIBED IV THERAPY (AT HOME) FOR 6 WEEKS. I DID THIS EXACTLY AS I WAS TOLD. I WAS JUST ABOUT PAIN FREE FOR ABOUT 1 1/2 MONTHS. AT THE END OF APRIL, THE PAIN RETURNED. MY ORAL SURGEON CHECKED ME AGAIN, AS DID MY REGULAR DENTIST.
Avatar m tn Sir i have a lower Jaw bone infection which is from one year. A doctor a year ago performed endodontic surgery in my lower jaw and removed infected tissue and bone in my lower four teeth. But infection again developed resulting in Jaw bone infection. I want to ask whether one year infection in bone can be cured with medicine and is clindamycin best for it or there is surgery required to remove the dead and infected bone.
Avatar n tn A few weeks ago, I had a wisdom tooth extracted, and had swelling and slight pain in the surgical site areas. Five days later, I started having a neck pain feeling like a line starting from the corner of my jaw below my ears to the center point of throat below my adam's apple. The wisdom tooth removed was in my left jaw, and the related pains were in my left side. While the pains were there, I didnt notice any swelling in my thyroid.
Avatar f tn How are you? Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is a neuropathic disorder of the trigeminal nerve that causes episodes of intense pain in the eyes, lips, nose, scalp, forehead, and jaw. The condition can bring about stabbing, electric shock-like pain from just a light wind or a finger's glance of the cheek.TN usually develops after the age of 40.

Avatar f tn over the next month, sore went away, jaw went down, but had allover hot feeling and muscle pain, this went away after 2 weeks and then the jaw swelled up again! seems to get better, then worse, etc. dr thinks some kind of virus....i think it was caused by the cleaning, as i didn't have anything until after that....could that have been it,? thanks!
Avatar f tn Hi, combination of your ear pain and the jaw pain could be due to sinus congestion. There are many cases where individuals that suffering from sinus congestion also experience pressure in the ear, with earaches and even jaw pain. The earaches you are having may be an infection in the ear due to blocked sinuses. Other causes of aw pain can be due to infection of salivary gland like parotitis, infected foci, osteoporosis related jaw disarticulation or fracture.
Avatar n tn Itching, and a feeling of fullness inside the ear - usually the first sign of infection * Swelling of the ear canal * Watery discharge from the ear * Severe pain and tenderness in the ear - especially when moving the head and jaw, or gently pulling the earlobe. Unlike a middle ear infection (otitis media), the pain of an ear canal inflammation or infection is worse when you chew, when you press on the "tag" in front of the ear, or when you wiggle your earlobe.
Avatar f tn t see me for another 6 months now after 2 weeks of antibiotics and the swelling going down I woke up to the whole side of my face from jaw to eye being swollen, throwing up and my nose is stuffed up. I'm not in any pain though just really sick is this from the abscess spreading or am I just catching cold on top of everything?
Avatar n tn I dont feel any pain until i open my jaw more than half way. My ear feels like theres a lot of fluid in it. I was thinking it might be an ear infection. But why would my jaw really hurt to open more than half way? It doesnt hurt when I chew either. Does anyone know what I might have?
Avatar n tn If I am not mistaken, there is a nerve series that runs on the side of the face from approx. the temple to the jaw bone that can become inflamed with dental work/infection, and for reasons unknown. I believe this is seen more often in people with MS. There have been treatments successful in relieving the pain. I cannot recall the name of this pain as the word is a little lengthy. You really should not have to live with pain. Perhaps Google, facial nerve pain or dental, facial pain.
Avatar f tn That doesn't sound like an STD. It could be covid, the flu, a cold, or any other upper respiratory infection. If it lingers much longer, see your doctor. Feel better soon.
Avatar n tn t have any contraindications to taking Ibuprofen (eg. Motrin, Advil), I would recommend getting from from the drugstore and trying that to help with the pain until you can get in to see your dentist. TMJ disorders don't normally cause swelling that I have seen. Swollen glands and swelling generally indicate an infection, possibly from a dental abscess, impacted wisdom tooth, acute periodontal infection, etc.. It's best to have it checked out ASAP. Avatar f tn My oral surgeon suggested some exercises I could do and it did help a little. The instant headache pain i had went away because the regular jaw joint pain I was having suddenly didn't reach my right eye . I have had no improvement since and my o/s wants me to start therapy. Will this help ? Starting to think there will be no end to this , each meal is painful , getting really sick of this.
Avatar m tn Hi. I'm at my wits end on what to do and need another opinion. I also had all 4 of my impacted wisdom teeth removed this past Monday Nov. 10th, and it is now Saturday. The pain is excruciating and unbearable. I was given a prescription for hydrocodone but get no relief whatsoever. I called my dentist office yesterday to let them know I am still suffering and they had me come in immediately to check my progress out.
Avatar n tn Went back to dentists he took out my tooth and said I did not need antibiotics anymore as infection if present will drain out. I have a swelling on left side on jaw, pain is serious had no proper sleep for 4 days now, pain is in jaw and now in my head and underneath my left earlobe is excruciating. I contacted emergency dental hospital yesterday and left message on answering machine yesterday for advise but no reply as yet. Please help me, why am I in such pain and what should I do next.
Avatar m tn You may experience muscle spasms from TMJ syndrome. You may feel pain every time you talk, chew, or yawn. Pain usually appears in the joint itself, in front of the ear, but it may move elsewhere in the skull, face, or jaw. TMJ syndrome may cause ear pain, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), and hearing loss. Sometimes people mistake TMJ pain for an ear problem or sinus problem, such as an infection, when the ear or sinus' is not the problem at all.
Avatar n tn You know I may also be TMJ, that's what I have, the worst case. I get pain in my jaw, headaches, sometimes throat pain, and ear pain, and back pain, you'll know if you have it by pressure on your side jaw(both sides) Just my oppinion.
Avatar n tn You may have TMJ or just some jaw sensitivity from the dental work you have had done and from having your mouth opened so wide for a long period of time while the dentist worked on your teeth. I had this same problem and had jaw joint pain for 10 months after having 1 tooth crowned! I am searching for answers myself now, but I won't be having in more injections unless I'm dead!
Avatar f tn Have the Sam e thing.Got a sinus infection that infected my eye and caused upper jaw pain. And some in my ear.
Avatar f tn Even though if you still having pain then you can use jaw strengthening exercises or jaw stretching exercises to get relief from jaw pain.
Avatar f tn hi, i had infection in my left jaw a year ago without any decay so i had to change my cap of three back molars. now i have an infection in my right hand side jaw and there is a lymph node which you can feel it when touched. the pain was too much and and the dentist put me on an antibiotic for five days. he says the pain will go away in ten days. but i am worried about the lymph node will it actually dissolve?
Avatar n tn You have partially recovered from the upper respiratory tract infection. Also, it appears that you are having infection of the external ear (Otitis externa) or left TMJ problems. Try taking muclolytics (such as bromhexine/ambroxyl), pain relievers (such as Ibuprofen/diclofenac), saline nasal drops, steam inhalation, drink plenty of warm water and avoid chewing on the left side. Consult your doctor for the detailed examination and further management.
Avatar n tn When I was 9 years old I was invovled in a head on motorcycle accident in which my left jaw was crushed. During reconstructive surgery an infection was introduced and I lost my jaw for about 2 years while they doctors battled the infection. It was finally rebuilt using a rib graft. A lot of cutting was done on my face and neck. Now at the age of 50 I am experiencing severe jaw pain in that jaw, neck pain on that same side, tongue cramping and severe tongue pain.
Avatar n tn It sounds like an ear infection to me. Your ears are connected to your nose and throat, so it's likely your jaw pain can be radiated pain from those areas. But I would definitely go and speak with a doctor about it, because letting an ear infection run without antibiotics, if it's not clearing up on its own, can be detrimental to your hearing.
Avatar f tn I have been have episodes of left chest pain and jaw pain for about 2 months. I have had a stress echo which was normal. I had a cardiac ct with calcium scoring in which my calcium score was 0 and my arteries were clear ( they couldn't see my right coronary artery completely but they assured me it wasn't my heart). I have been on Nexium for my stomach and have been referred to a GI doctor but I continue to have this pain and jaw tightness.
Avatar n tn I have exactly what is being didcussed under jaw pain tooth pain. I can't hardly stand the pain. A month ago it was on the other side of my jaw. Had it xrayed & got 2nd opinion. They said it could be a sinus infection. I can believe the pain can possibly be that bad. It left. Now I have exactly the same thing on the other side of my mouth. It is in the lower jaw/ bone/tooth. They said it normally is in the upper teeth. Has anyone got any answers?
