Common Questions and Answers about Ideal weight male

Avatar m tn IM male, 16 years old, 5ft 5inches and 15.6 stone. I want to lose weight but what in health terms should i be aiming for as my ideal weight?
Avatar f tn I am not understanding your height measurement, and you did not state your age. 110lbs is not an ideal weight for males unless you are under 4ft tall. A male should eat typically 2000-2500 calories per day depending on your age. If you can give me your height and age, then I can give you an accurate amount of calories per day. Hoped this helped you.
Avatar f tn You should be eating 0.7 grams of protein for the weight you want to be! It's ideal to shoot for 1 gram if you can!! Do your research to find a good strength training routine. You could search google for routines. I like Alan Aragon. I've tried a few different routines and most are excellent find one you like.
Avatar n tn I am a 5'6 male and weigh 120lbs it is a healthy weight by all means and isn't anything you should worry about. I am guessing with you dropping 10 pounds you probably lost some of your figure and want to get it back. The hard part about gaining weight for some people is that our bodies have a set ideal body weight and yours is now set at 120lbs. I myself am 20 years old and have weighed the same since I was 16.
Avatar n tn Hi all, I'm looking for information on the "ideal diet" (nutritionally speaking) for a healthy, reasonably active average male. I'm not talking about "servings" of this or that - I'm interested in the core information such as how many grams of protein, carbs, fiber, fat that one should eat per day. Thanks in advance for any useful links or other info anyone can provide.
Avatar m tn I drink loads of water. I initially lost a load of weight in trying to control these things. Mostly because of the high fibre diet and simply avoiding eating in an effort to control digestion. Now, I have been cycling for years. It replaced the hill climbing. But things are once more pretty unbearable. However, the discomfort and pain is no longer going away after a few days or weeks. It is permanently there.
Avatar f tn I know there are several people here who can't seem to put weight on. I stay sick to my stomach a lot, also. I would think that would make me lose weight. I don't know. I am starting to get very concerned about it. That is probably one of the last things for me to be "worried" about, but I have a fear of being overweight like my mother and sister. I want to be as healthy as I can at the time. Thanks y'all for your support.
Avatar m tn Hello, For a 5 feet 8 inches male, ideal weight should be around 140 pounds or 63 kgs. So you need to gain some weight. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.

2216773 tn?1339426940 Hi. I have a male dachshund, Loki. He is 3 years old. He has no problems eating until 5 days ago. Loki will usually eat whatever is served in his dog bowl. We only feed him dry dog food. Sometimes, as a treat I give him peeled and diced carrots, banana or apples (without the core or seed). Just a few pieces. I feed him once in the morning and once in the evening, usually 7-8am/pm. I always have his water bowl full of clean water. Just 5 days ago, he does not want to eat his food.

Avatar m tn If anyone told me during treatment that I'd have a problem losing weight a year later, I'd think they were crazy. During treatment I lost over 30 lbs, a lot of it lean muscle mass, and most of it within the first three months of treating. Within three months of ending treatment, all the weight came back but not surprisngly a greater proportion came back as fat as opposed to muscle.
Avatar f tn I'm concerned because I have a lot of difficulty losing weight and had finally managed to get back into my clothes after gaining weight 3 years ago. Avatar n tn after my hysterectomy at 45yrs old I am gaining weight fast...never had mood swings or sweats...taking no harmones..does anything help?Trying all over the counter pills and etc. nothing working...HELP!!
Avatar n tn I would say that it is a 50/50 chance whether you would lose weight in the long run as the product wasn't designed as a weight loss product. (but I'm not a doctor so your dr. might be able to tell you what to expect).
Avatar n tn I have digenerative disc disease and my neirologist just prescribed topamax, he said it would help with the pain and tingling but could result in weight loss. I am wondering if prescribing topamax for ddd is common among neurologists? I can't seem to find any other information related to topamax as a pain med, only information I have is that it's a powerful drug with lots of side effects, most not so good. The weight loss aspect is the only plus...
2644165 tn?1387247948 I am also noticing some weight gain, and I lift weights and do cardio 4-5 days a week for at least an hour. I am 29, male, biracial (black & white), and I was in good health up until a year ago... I am curious to see if these choking/tightness/pill-feelings are a side-effect of the Synthroid...? Also, I am concerned that this goiter may be causing these issues... I am really concerned that these nodules may be forming into thyroid cancer...

Avatar n tn I lost 10 pounds using the Weight Watchers program, but I still have the extra pounds 2 years later. I had heard about weight gain while using the shot, however this is the first time I've heard anyone say anything about gaining weight afterwards. I had suspected all those hormones effected me some how, but didn't think much about it. Now it really makes me wonder....
Avatar n tn personally i think its better then weight watchers as its more private! i dont like talking about my weight in public so this was ideal for me! it may not be any physical help, because its down to us to be exercising.... after all it is us that wish to lose the weight! but as a mental help, it is amazing! i dont know if this helped.... but i hope it did!.... good luck! if you have any more tips etc.. please feel free to leave a message!
Avatar n tn I want to know if my weight is correct for my age and height. (Male, 54, 5ft 5in, 145 pounds, Asian Indian). I'm a marginal diabetic (excellent control with 1/2 tablet of 1 mg metformin at night). I walk 40-60 min every single day (3.5 mph), do 30 min of pranayama and 30 min of yoga asanas on alternate days and 30 min of dumbbell weight training on the other three days. Yet, my weight won't go down.

119874 tn?1189759429 Medical Recommendation: male 6' 185bs. This recommendation is based on a Body Mass Index (BMI) range of 19-25. I typed in your stats and they come up with 185 at 6 foot at your BMI. So this calculation says you are 15lbs overweight. I was suprised when I did mine, I wasnt aware I was overweight before! Not saying you are overweight but the "ideal medical weight" I guess is a bit different, according to that you are a bit over.
Avatar m tn Hello. I am a 25 year old male, 5'8", medium body frame, and I'm trying to lose weight. Currently I am 202 lbs. and I've adapted to a healthier lifestyle for the past 4 months. What that means is that I try to eat lean, rarely drink, and take in around an average of 8 hours of sleep per day. At the moment I am trying to boost my metabolism by taking green tea supplements, eating smaller lean meals (i.e. ~6) consisting of vegetables, fruits, and lean meat.
Avatar n tn Can anyone give me an idea of how long it usually takes for your metabolism to recalibrate after stopping Effexor and/or Lexapro? I've gained significant weight while on these drugs (despite an intense exercise program and careful diet). My nutritionist and MD told me that the drugs likely altered my metabolism, but no one can tell me how long it will take to correct that. Most frustrating, I've noticed that since I stopped taking both, my weight gain has accelerated.
