Common Questions and Answers about Ideal weight realistic

weight

Avatar n tn My question is about my ideal weight. My goal started at 150 pounds, then 140, then 130, now I'm thinking my ideal would be 120. Should I be taking into consideration the weight of the hanging skin that I can't get rid of? Am I being realistic in shooting for 120?
300624 tn?1405472717 Right now I am 153 pounds. Using the weight calculator I should weigh 121-135 pounds. Is this realistic for a 53 year old woman?
10538711 tn?1443575042 Accomplish your ideal physique by being realistic about your capabilities while also setting healthy and achievable weight-loss goals. Begin by calculating the calories you need to give up each day in order to reach your final goal. Multiply your weight by your activity level to estimate your daily caloric needs for maintaining normal bodily functions and current weight. Before you can reduce your calorie intake you have to know what it takes per day to function.
Avatar f tn 1 .Alkaline, low carb diet. No junk foods, no sodas, no sweets, no fast food. 2. Drink plenty spring water 1 hour away from eating. 3. Coconut oil increases metabolism- Use only as a replacement for other fats. 4. Increase activity level, do some weight training (muscle burns a lot more calories than fat-don't worry, females do not "bulk" up easy, lol!), walk everywhere if possible, take the stairs instead of elevators. 5. Visualize your ideal body as often as you can!
443968 tn?1288616289 I guess that age matter too and also when I became pregnant I was already over my ideal body weight, I was weighting 145 when I my ideal body weight is 125-130. To become pregnant I had to have series of infertility treatment for about 4 and half years, so I was taking a lot of hormones and having to inject them too for a long time, so this made me gain weight too, that is why I was already over when I became preggo, and the first 4 months of my pregnancy I was kept on hormone injections too.
4261944 tn?1530523938 I know what my healthy weight is, and why shouldn't I aim to get to it by eating the right foods??? I don't ever want to go back to my old ways. Obviously when I'm at my ideal weight I will probably have a Chinese guilt free cos I'm going to be in control of not piling on weight.... >.< sigh!! Lol. If one more person tells me that losing another 2 1/2 stone is a bad unhealthy decision I'll throw bluddy bananas at them!
4888499 tn?1362618703 Which is not exactly what the doctors say I should weigh, but I like a little curves so I think 175 would be my IDEAL weight and if I lose more all the better but I'm trying to be realistic.
Avatar f tn If you have to take the medication for long then it is best to keep a realistic expectation regarding weight. As long as your weight is within the range acceptable or ideal for your age, ethnic background, height and waist circumference, you should not worry much. If you have unexpectedly high weight gain then your doctor will need to rule out endocrine disorders such as diabetes and hypothyroidism, severe anemia etc as the cause of weight gain. Please discuss with your doctor.
649848 tn?1534637300 in fact, I was usually under or right at my ideal weight, right up till early 2007, when I began gaining like there was no tomorrow. I talked to my doctor and his answer was "eat less, move more"...........in a matter of 3 months, I had gained 30 pounds without eating more or moving less than I had been. I began truly eating less and moving more in an effort to lose (after all, that's what my doctor told me to do) - to no avail.......
Avatar n tn Can anyone give me an idea of how long it usually takes for your metabolism to recalibrate after stopping Effexor and/or Lexapro? I've gained significant weight while on these drugs (despite an intense exercise program and careful diet). My nutritionist and MD told me that the drugs likely altered my metabolism, but no one can tell me how long it will take to correct that. Most frustrating, I've noticed that since I stopped taking both, my weight gain has accelerated.
Avatar n tn I went today for my first week weight check and my second shot.....my weight loss for my first week is 9.5 pounds!!!! Anyone else using Phentermine and B12? I would love to hear how other people have done on these meds. Good Luck to everyone trying...I want to hear your story!
349463 tn?1333575176 Second week of September seems realistic, but third week would be ideal. I am so sore and so tired all the time. It's amazing how hard it is to move around these days. My back is hurting, my hips ache, my feet hurt within 30 minutes of getting up in the morning. My entire body aches. I have a full on waddle because of the hip pain. Changing my daughter's diaper and giving her a bath are getting next to impossible. I'm feeling ready to have this baby now. I need my body back!
Avatar f tn I just started the B12 andPhentermine diet on 3-14-08 my weight is 181 and my ideal weight is 145-150 how long did it take you to lose the weight
Avatar f tn BG level was 226! How can I get it lower fast?! In one night, what's a realistic expectation?
804270 tn?1254563197 Secondly, how tall are you? If you're approaching your ideal weight, it will become harder and harder to continue shedding pounds, due to the increasing efficiency of your body. Your goal line is way to steep to be realistic--you should be trying to lost no more than a couple pounds a week if you want to have any chance to keep it off, especially this late in the game. Third, you've only been at this for about 2 weeks.
1676558 tn?1305463705 Do what feels right for you. I myself want to get to around 170 which is a size 8 for me but all the charts say that is obese. I don't look or feel obese at that size. If you want a more formal opinion go to your doctor. They should messure your wrists and use other tools to calculte your "ideal weight". But you got to be realistic. At 42 it would be VERY hard for me to go back to 125 lbs. I don't even think I would look good being that small. And then again.
Avatar m tn Are you really saying that all of us that HAVE lost serious weight through proper diet and exercise are wasting our time or are you just not happy with the results of your efforts? I know what the ideal BMI is and I have that as my goal. To say EVERYONE has a predisposed weight they can never alter is either an excuse or just plain backwards thinking.
1277082 tn?1344061420 yes, I am fat! I am 100 pounds over my ideal weight, but agian I have pcos. since I have moved out here to my new home state I have cut my eating out habbits down 75% and have tampered with excersicing. I had lost 8 pounds but dont know where I am at cuz I think I gained. working out is always going to be hard on me since work takes over all my days and my energy. I am person that needs a work out partner that is consistant and does not need to rely on me but always there to be relyed on.
Avatar m tn If you have already reached then then you should work owards maintaining it and not losing weight further. Too fast weight loss can cause rebound weight gain. Also, it can cause other problems such as loose skin, flabs at unwanted places etc. Apart from losing weight, you need to tone up the body. A combination of aerobic, strength training and stretches works best. Many people find it difficult to fit an exercise regimen into their lives.
Avatar n tn As someone who struggled GREATLY with my weight until about age 24, I can understand your disappointment and discouragement. I weigh less now than I did when I was 12 years old, so I truly do get it! Forgive my lack of eloquence here, but there are several thoughts I want to share with you: 1.) Thyroid medication should not be looked at as an answer to weight loss.
Avatar f tn my doctort said i have nothing to worry about and that i am perfectly healthy and he's not concerned at all with my weight. what a relief. my weight is a big thing to me... and i constantly think about it. but knowing that my doc is confident about the way my pregnancy is progressing makes me feel more at ease. with my first pregnancy i gained over 65 pounds, but i started out at about 150 pounds.
362249 tn?1441318618 Based on 135 lbs and 5 ft 3 in, your weight and BMI falls within the normal category. Your ideal weight range is 104.43 - 141.13 pounds and your BMI calculates at 23.9. Taking your current weight of 135 and comparing it to your goal weight of 125, you should be able to reach your 10 pound goal by October 30, 2008. This is based on a healthy weight loss of 1 pound per week; prior to your birthday! ;p Now, if you have the desire, we can help you with motivation.
Avatar f tn Therefore trying to loose 40 lbs in 7 weeks isn't safe, healthy, or realistic. Honestly it took me 1.5 YEARS to loose 38 lbs. My weight loss hasn't been ideal as far as speed goes, but it hasn't been too fast to cause my dr's to worry. Remember weight never comes on overnight so you cannot expect it to leave any faster. Now because you're so young, you have to be very careful. You're likely still growing and so cutting down on your daily calories could be dangerous.
Avatar f tn Second thing you need to tell your friend- loosing 30 lbs in one month is not healthy, safe or realistic. Loosing weight so fast can make someone extremely sick so no matter what they do on tv (and remember they have dr's on all those weight loss shows making sure no one is going to die). It's just not really safe to do this at home. Good, safe weight loss is about 2 lbs a week, no more. Usually your first couple weeks you loose a couple pounds more, but 2 lbs is a safe average to maintain.
1050938 tn?1311557178 While eliminating just about anything containing simple sugars/table sugars from my diet did in fact cause my weight to drop pretty darned quick...as healthy as that might have been, it was not realistic for ME.
Avatar m tn Previous advisory committees have touted the benefits of going vegetarian, but this is the first panel to specifically recommend switching to a plant-based diet as a healthy option. They cite the facts that meatless diets are associated with lower body weight, lower blood pressure, and lower risk of heart disease.
Avatar f tn I follow the Atkins Induction plan for 2 weeks only. I don't stay on it for the long term. Week three I add in berries and nuts. Veggies are fine on Atkins though anytime, induction and long term. By week four (or once I have lost 20% of my weight), I begin following a more "well-rounded" diet. Fruits, veggies, protein, dairy, and 1 serving of whole grains per day. The Atkins plan gives you the fastest results which I why I do this for a few weeks.
Avatar dr m tn in addition to the hospital readmission for the elevated bilirubin level, Kathy could not use her left arm at all. During the delivery, the IV was placed in the antebrachial vein (at the bend of her left elbow) which not only caused irritation, but during placement, had bruised the nerve that went to her arm and hand. It's still very difficult to even handle the baby, let alone breast-feed properly. So what does breast-feeding have to do with CPAP?
Avatar n tn For example say you took 10 pills a day, is it better to drop 1/4 pill each day or drop a whole pill every 4 days. I feel like I need a more realistic plan to stick to the the 20% taper per day I was attempting. It worked well for 500MG down to 100MG. Yesterday I took 75Mg but again today missed the mark bigtime. Tomorrows taper is suposed to be 60MG but even if I do get back on Track AGAIN Friday, How can I go to 45MG on Saturday.
