Avatar n tn I think the being thin has acquired a sense of the ideal. A lot of girls feel like becoming thin is just one way they can touch an ideal. Hollywood is perfect- beautiful, talented, rich people seemingly living what appears to be a life right out of a fairy tale. As girls, most of us were conditioned from an early age to appreciate fairy tales. We would dream about being a beautiful princess in a castle, or seeing the world from atop a magic carpet - I believe Hollywood is an extension of this.
Avatar m tn Males: IBW = 50 kg + 2.3 kg for each inch over 5 feet. Females: IBW = 45.5 kg + 2.3 kg for each inch over 5 feet Your IBW is calculated to be 61.5 kg, so you are currently about 22% below your ideal body weight. In addition, your body mass index (BMI) is 17.6, which is considered underweight. With your height and age, you are in the 5th percentile when plotted on the Growth Curve Chart of the Bayley-Pinneau method. So, by definition, you are not in the short stature category.
Avatar n tn and lost down to 94/97 lbs. in 9 months and still losing until RAI treatment. At 5', a 100 lbs is the ideal weight. So you have plenty of weight to lose before any danger.
Avatar f tn I don't believe in liposuction as the answer, and the two drugs used injection used for non-invasive lipo are not anything I'd inject into my body. Phosphatidylcholine, one of the drugs in the mix, has shown evidence that it can lead to atherosclerosis The other, deoxycholic acid, is created from taurocholic acid, which is produced from cattle bile purchased from the meat industry.
Avatar f tn Lifestyle measures would include salt restricted diet, consumption of lots of fruit and vegetables, regular exercises and maintaining ideal body weight. I suggest you to follow a healthy lifestyle as suggested above. You should also check your blood pressures once in two months so that medications may be started at the earliest if needed. I don’t think any further tests are needed at this point. Hope that this information helps.
Avatar n tn Fasting isn't a weight loss technique, really. Your weight and leanness is determined by your genetics and by your diet and how it affects your metabolism. Fasting can be useful for spiritual and detoxification, but obviously one doesn't need to detox a whole lot.
579258 tn?1250652943 Long term success is to reach my goal weight before my 37th birthday (18th October) Short term success is to lose something every week.
Avatar n tn I can't do pushups. My upper body is weak and no muscle definition, but my pecs are soft and flabby, but not entirely breast like. All of my weight is in my butt, hips and spare tire. Essentially pear-shaped. In the last 5 years, my libido has decreased. I have no problem with sex, when we do, but I don't have the urge to have it. And if my wife is mesntruating, I have trouble maintaining an erection for even self gratification sometimes. I have no chest hair.

Avatar n tn I'm close to 60 years old, exercise regularly, am close to my ideal weight, eat very few saturated fats. Bad genetics are just bad genetics I'm afraid. You know, just like many people are forced to go "unnatural" with drugs like interferon and ribavirin to lick the virus (some people do clear naturally) for some, like myself, Statins may be the only realistic way. We'll see.
Avatar f tn Here is an article you might find useful. I have not had a biopsy,( Im geno 3, often they do not suggest a biopsy but rather recommend tx regardless of damage level) My CT scan showed cirrhosis and after a year of treatment, Fibroscan shows stage 3, so Im hopeful. I think I might have told you this already, sorry if I am repeating myself here.
Avatar n tn There is quite lot in it and it would take be around 5 pages to fully describe everything I know so far, and a 3 page doctor’s letter can take me a whole day to write just getting my thoughts in order, but if you have any questions feel free. Right now I’m taking Strattera in the highest dose for my weight. It is not expected to have great deal of impact on the Executive itself. The effects are quite subtle.
Avatar n tn Grave’s is a systemic disease which can affect many organs besides the thyroid. I didn't have that many symptoms either, the obvious weight loss and high energy. However, If your tests show that you are hyperthyroid, you are sick! whether you feel it or not. The cumulative effects of the excess thyroid hormone may not show up at first, so you might not feel sick. But over time muscle loss and other problems grow. You do not want to wait until you do feel sick to get treatment.
Avatar dr m tn These are the patients that are commonly diagnosed with idiopathic hypersomnia. However, the bigger issue is that by definition, all modern humans are susceptible to breathing problems at night for the following reason: Due to jaw narrowing and dental crowding from a radical change in our diets, our tongues take up relatively too much space, and as a result, is more susceptible to obstructing the airway when sleeping supine and in deep sleep due to muscle relaxation.

649848 tn?1534637300 Partly because of that, they set a lower threshold for using medicines to reduce risk. The definition of high cholesterol isn't changing, but the treatment goal is. Instead of aiming for a specific number, using whatever drugs get a patient there, the advice stresses statins such as Lipitor and Zocor and identifies four groups of people they help the most. "The emphasis is to try to treat more appropriately," said Dr.
545538 tn?1295995617 if i was overweight the only way I would treat is lose weight or if absolutely necessary take weight based ribavirin. There have been some obese people on this forum that have taken as much as 2000 mg of ribavirin and still did not clear.
Avatar f tn Ok, I get that (though I was gestational diabetic and even getting down to ideal weight I will probably be type 2 in a few years). Since I went on Adderall, I have noticed that I have calmed down quite a bit. That being said, the last two days I have been very "edgy" and feel like I have been on the cusp of having an attack, but haven't quite gone over that edge. I don't think the anxiety will ever "go away" or be "cured", but to drop my dosage would be nice.
Avatar m tn Recently I graduated from college, and while attending I developed a drinking problem even by my socio-cultural definition. Its not uncommon for me to drink a 750ml bottle of brandy on the weekends. I'm a habitual drinker, so I might typically drink a 200ml flask of scotch in the evenings; however in the last two months it has turned into a towering inferno.
