Common Questions and Answers about Ideal weight height male

weight

Avatar f tn I am not understanding your height measurement, and you did not state your age. 110lbs is not an ideal weight for males unless you are under 4ft tall. A male should eat typically 2000-2500 calories per day depending on your age. If you can give me your height and age, then I can give you an accurate amount of calories per day. Hoped this helped you.
Avatar n tn I do eat at least 3 meals a day and sometimes snacks in between. My concern is that, is this a healthy weight for my height? And how can I get back to my previous weight a healthy way? My weight was always steady and I felt more comfortable at 130. I know this must sound crazy with today's world where people are trying to lose weight but I am having a problem gaining weight. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Avatar m tn Hello, For a 5 feet 8 inches male, ideal weight should be around 140 pounds or 63 kgs. So you need to gain some weight. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar f tn I know there are several people here who can't seem to put weight on. I stay sick to my stomach a lot, also. I would think that would make me lose weight. I don't know. I am starting to get very concerned about it. That is probably one of the last things for me to be "worried" about, but I have a fear of being overweight like my mother and sister. I want to be as healthy as I can at the time. Thanks y'all for your support.
Avatar n tn a little over two years ago, after numerous cold turkey quits on vicodin- i started taking oxycontin... i am a 37 y.o. male and my normal weight is 260 to 285... after about 8 months of being dependent on oxycontin my weight shot up to 360... at that point i quit cold turkey(which completely sucked and won't do again). needless to say quitting cold turkey did help with weight loss... i was clean for 4-1/2 to 5 months and in that time i dropped sixty pounds, (without dieting or even trying).
Avatar n tn after my hysterectomy at 45yrs old I am gaining weight fast...never had mood swings or sweats...taking no harmones..does anything help?Trying all over the counter pills and etc. nothing working...HELP!!
Avatar n tn I put those words in italics because I personally believe that height/weight charts are laughable and it's no way to actually judge whether or not a person is at a healthy weight. I can guarantee that I will never weight 135 LBs. I certainly do need to lose some weight because I am carrying some unhealthy weight but I am one of those people who will never be thin or "height/weight proportionate".
Avatar n tn I have digenerative disc disease and my neirologist just prescribed topamax, he said it would help with the pain and tingling but could result in weight loss. I am wondering if prescribing topamax for ddd is common among neurologists? I can't seem to find any other information related to topamax as a pain med, only information I have is that it's a powerful drug with lots of side effects, most not so good. The weight loss aspect is the only plus...
Avatar n tn I want to know if my weight is correct for my age and height. (Male, 54, 5ft 5in, 145 pounds, Asian Indian). I'm a marginal diabetic (excellent control with 1/2 tablet of 1 mg metformin at night). I walk 40-60 min every single day (3.5 mph), do 30 min of pranayama and 30 min of yoga asanas on alternate days and 30 min of dumbbell weight training on the other three days. Yet, my weight won't go down.
140437 tn?1215113342 5 years ago my weight shoot up tremendously. I am trying to lose it too (my ideal weight for my height is 55-60kg),keep up the good work don't give up it takes a while. All the best.
Avatar n tn Can anyone give me an idea of how long it usually takes for your metabolism to recalibrate after stopping Effexor and/or Lexapro? I've gained significant weight while on these drugs (despite an intense exercise program and careful diet). My nutritionist and MD told me that the drugs likely altered my metabolism, but no one can tell me how long it will take to correct that. Most frustrating, I've noticed that since I stopped taking both, my weight gain has accelerated.
Avatar n tn Continue your exercise and weights to lose atleast 500 calories per day and alternatively visit a dietician to design a balanced diet for you with lesser calories required for your age and weight and height. Take care!

Finally she was able to get a doctor to prescribe thyroid med adequate to eliminate hypo symptoms and raise her metabolism to normal. "I was having some major problems with my metabolism. I am a nurse and I thoroughly researched all the scientific research on the internet and at the medical library.
Avatar f tn , and weighed 100lbs then you'd be under weight, not healthy either. Being male or female might not seem to matter though at first look but honestly it does due to biology. If you are a male your body fat should be 2-5% or more to live a healthy life. Women though are different, they must have at least 10-13% body fat. What happens when you get below these percentages though?! Well lets take a look. "Body fat is important for a wide variety of body functions.

Avatar n tn I went today for my first week weight check and my second shot.....my weight loss for my first week is 9.5 pounds!!!! Anyone else using Phentermine and B12? I would love to hear how other people have done on these meds. Good Luck to everyone trying...I want to hear your story!
Avatar m tn I don't eat soy at all, and i am about 10 pounds overweight. I was at the ideal weight for my age and height when this all started. Could I start hormone therapy? If I do, will my gynecomastia go away, or is it too late? Will my hair stop falling out?
Avatar m tn You make a good point that "ideal body weight" measurements do not do a great job of taking age and body type into account. But at the same time, there are general weight ranges that are appropriate for any given height. You don't mention how tall you are or your fitness level in your post - someone who exercises frequently and/or lifts weights might have a higher body mass index but still be in great shape.
Avatar m tn I've read a few posts where the doctors on this site claim that it's still possible to grow in certain areas of your legs through detailed nutrition and exercise. I feel that 184 cms isn't the ideal height and crave to grow atleast another 2 inches. Is this possible? Then could any person whose good with nutritional matters please send me any specific workout program or atleast a link to one. Also, I want to know the minimum amount of calories that I should consume everyday for the same.
Avatar m tn -I'm not obese, but was 6kg above the ideal weight for my age and height (5ft 11 inch). I've lost the extra weight. I'm running almost 5 days a week now to loose more. -I don't drink or smoke. Issue: Throughout my life I never liked red meat, and rarely consumed it. I mostly preferred white meat, but after the gout attack I've made life style changes by becoming a vegetarian. However, my body is feeling as if it's not getting all the nutrients, mostly proteins.
Avatar f tn Your biggest challenge is to lose weight and keep it off. According to your height, your ideal weight should be 161-184 lbs if you are large frame male. So at your current weight, you are considered obese, which puts you at an increased health risk. Again taking a reasonable and gradual approach is best. Losing a pound a week would bring you at your ideal weight in a year and the loss is more sustainable.
Avatar n tn I'm a 59 year old male. My height and weight are very close to yours. I had open heart surgery last November for an ascending aortic aneurysm, which measured 4.8 cm to begin with with an echo, then 5.3 with a follow up CT scan. The actual size turned out to be 5.8 the surgeon told me. Bottom line is this, it is VERY important to control your blood pressure. With all the exercising you do, I'm guessing your BP is probably okay, and you may not have to take any meds at all.

Avatar m tn Due to intestinal problems I am extremely underweight. My weight is only 35kg and height is 5feet 5 inches. My question is what are the risks of heart problems due to low weight.
Avatar n tn Hello James Good question. Your cardiac cath showed minimal disease. For some background, I would refer you to my blog an coronary angiography. Coronary angiography is currently the gold standard diagnostic test to identify blockages with in the coronary arteries. It gives us a "road map"of the heart. With the evolution of technology, CAT scan is also another modality albeit not as well accepted because of the additional radiation and iv dye necessary. To reiterate these are roadmaps.

Avatar m tn For context, I'm a male, mid 40's. Non smoking, normal body weight / height (170 lbs, around 5 ft 11 inches tall). Thank you.
Avatar n tn That's good news. I agree with the doctor. I do uniformly tell ex athletes that "lean" is in. As you age, it becomes progressively more difficult for former sportsters to maintain their "playing weight". Identify your ideal lean body weight and take the necessary steps to get their. Ive yet to see a patient lean out who doesnt feel better and look better without compromising strenghth or endurance Best of health www.personalwellnesswheel.
