Avatar f tn Everyone is different. I'm allowed 45 carbs per meal snack every 2hrs very few carbs. Test 1hr after meal. No fruit for breakfast or snack. No fruit juice period. That's my meal plan now yours could be different. I've found walking right after really helps bring down the levels. But carbs you have to watch even if it says sugar free.
Avatar f tn Whole grain breads and pastas are good for you; it's just the ones made with white flour that aren't good for you. Even if you aren't drinking a lot of juice, it's not good for you like whole fruit is. You don't have to eat a lot of fruit - just one serving/day is good enough. What do you eat for nuts, seeds and other healthy fats? How long have been eating this small amount of food?
Avatar f tn Your starchy vegetables (potatoes, corn, and peas), all grains, all fruit, milk and yogurt count as carbs. Avoid fruit juices and sodas, not to mention candys, cakes, cookies....
Avatar f tn How do you eat less carbs for breakfast? I can't seem to get away from bad carbs at breakfast.
Avatar f tn Wow, I was starting to think the fruit juice thing wasjust me. I LOVE orange juice but sadly it is the one thing that is guaranteed to nauseate me. Im 11 weeks 5 days and my appetite came back early in week 10.

1363757 tn?1277819546 Google good carbs vs bad carbs is a start. However, even good carbs, as with any food, can affect an individual in different ways. Test prior to a meal and 2-3 hrs following to see how that food affected your glucose levels. Keep a written log as a reminder as to what foods you should be eating. Fruits have fructose, fruit sugar. Tropical fruits, oranges, and like are high in fructose. Berries & some melons on the other hand are low in fructose.
Male things which we should all avoid and the complex carbs, such as those found in vegetables, whole grains, fruit, etc. Those are the carbs that provide dietary fiber, which is necessary for good digestive health. They aren't digested as quickly as the white versions, so they won't spike your blood sugar. Do watch portion sizes, though. Try switching to brown rice, whole grain pasta and bread, etc.
Avatar m tn The total amount of net carbs you eat in a day is one number to watch, and the total number of net carbs you eat all at once is another number to watch. So lets say you limit yourself to 50 net carbs a day. (net carbs is total carbs minus fiber carbs.) A snack is sometimes suggested to be 15 net carbs. (Yum, chunk of cheese and handful of pecans!) Offhand I dont know the net carb of an apple but you can look that up and think about it.
1211508 tn?1343079605 Mine usually hovers around exact same as yours, I am 50 years old and I am beginning to cut out things like jam and jelly, orange juice cranberry juice things like that which are loaded but sugar, even fruit can be high in sugar as well. My treat for drinking water, which I absolutely hate is to drink some sparkling water with a tad bit of organic cranberry juice and, it just give it a tiny bit of sweetness without being supersweet.

118074 tn?1228329003 lol...you'll probably get over it soon. I thought my crazy cravings were going to last forever, but eventually your body will allow to eat better. My midwife told me not to eat anything that would make me sick or looked like it would make me sick. She said the baby would get what (s)he needs during that time. Just make sure you drinking plenty of water! Although in the beginning I couldn't drink water to save my life. I just drank iced tea and juice and watered them down.
Avatar f tn You can still loose weight while on any Psychotropic meds. The key is exersise and food choices. You don't have to starve yourself either. I take Protriptilyne, lamictal, Klonopin, and Lithium 900Mgs a day. This is what some would call "asking to get fat." In 6 months I went from 230Lbs to 175Lbs and added 20 Lbs of solid muscle. I did this with weights, supplimentation, and dumping foods that cause fat. I even eat some fatty foods too.

Avatar f tn Additionally, it would be better to snack on whole fruit, rather than juice. With whole fruit, you get all the fiber and vitamins; juice gives you some of the vitamins, but more calories with less nutrition. Whole fruit will fill you up more quickly than juice will. You should not go more than a few hours without food. It sounds like your blood sugar is dropping too low.
804966 tn?1261895278 A multi-grain or whole wheat piece of toast or English muffin with peanut butter and some fruit is good. Eat fruit instead of drinking juice so you get full when you eat the calories. Oatmeal is another great food to eat to keep you full - try putting it in muffins, pancakes or on its own. Eggs are a healthy alternative if cooked in a dab of olive oil or else with PAM or just boiled or poached.

Avatar f tn m 46 and 35kg overweight, I have just invested in a cardiotech treadmill and the t-zone vibration machine. how can I get the best results, should I cut out all carbs in my diet, and would those replacement shakes b an option.
Avatar m tn Drink 100 percent fruit juice, which offers calories and nutritional value, rather than sugary sodas or sports drinks. Replace a serving or two of whole fruit with fruit juice, as it contains many more calories. Just remember that juice has almost no fiber, as fruit does. Add nuts to your diet, since they are high-calorie and very nutritious. Snack on them, or add them to cereal, pancakes, french toast, waffles, yogurt, salads, ice cream, fish, poultry or vegetables.
Avatar f tn Thanks for using the forum. Diet is very important for managing your diabetes. I am sure you know that it is very important to limit your carbs because they are what raise your blood sugar. If possible, you could consult with a dietician. They can consider what you are eating now and help you to understand what changes need to be made, while incorporating the foods you currently enjoy.
