Common Questions and Answers about Hiv rash characteristics

hiv

Avatar m tn HIV questions belong in the HIV prevention forum, but a quick answer to your question - You wouldn't get symptoms of HIV nearly this fast, and oral sex is really low risk for HIV. Any follow up questions need to be posted in the HIV forum.
Avatar m tn i had protected sex about a month ago.now i have swollen lymph nodes in my neck.they just got large in the past week but i dont know if i caused the inflammation by poking at them or not. are the swelling of lypmh nodes usually accompanied by the other symptoms such as rash/fever/sweats etc?
Avatar f tn I no longer speak to this girl and we only had sex once which was around 10-12 weeks ago. Could I be getting symptoms this late? Does anyone know the characteristics of a hiv rash?
Avatar m tn Was sex protected?
Avatar n tn Hi Guys, i have been having a rash across my chest for about 1 and a half months now, and it is itching and looks like small red bumps which are characteristics of an HIV rash. I am really freaking out about it, i have not had any high fevers after exposure though i have had hot flashes and chills, and now a sore throat after 2 months. I only received unprotected oral sex which is supposedly risk-free but do you think these rashes are ars rashes?
Avatar m tn Hi guys. If i have hiv rash, how would it come about? Does it show up at once or it develops one pimple after the other, like one today, 2 tommorow and so on.
Avatar n tn how does ars rash looks like? i had 2 small red dot like small red mole on my hand is it possible that they are ars rash. i didnt had a fever. is it tru that ars usually appear a bunh of them or sometimes in all the body and is it true that is usually come with a high fever.
Avatar n tn If it were an ARS related rash, would it respond to hydrocortisone? 3. How likely is it to have acute HIV and have a rash as the only symptom? Do the rash and fever usually go hand-in-hand, or is it possible to only have the rash? 4. I know 3 months is the ideal time for rapid testing. However, I've also read that if symptoms are present, it's likely to test positive. If indeed the rash was HIV related, would it have shown up in the test, or is it still too soon after the exposure?
Avatar m tn 3. Does an HIV rash usually develop as blisters and with the general characteristics I have described above? 4. If you don't think this is HIV related, any other possible suggestions? I'm seeing a dermatologist next week, but in the meantime would appreciate some initial info to help calm my nerves. Thanks a lot.
Avatar f tn Furthermore, in your case, the absence of fever and rash makes it unlikely that your symptoms were due to HIV since when HIV does cause symptoms soon after infection (in most patients, early HIV infection goes unnoticed), fever and a rash are part of the presentation. Now let me provide a bit of reassurance. That your ex may have had 15 or more partners does not by any means make him high risk.
Avatar m tn Anyway, my question is, could this be an HIV rash? Even though I tested negative at the three month mark? Also, would an HIV rash have the characteristics of the rash I have? Which is itchy, burning, and fleeting to different areas of my body. The rash has manifested itself mostly in my limbs thus far. But it has been on my back as well as chest and face. But would it be common for an HIV rash to manifest itself one full year after a potential exposure?
Avatar m tn Does a early HIV rash arrive at the same time and leave at the same time?
Avatar n tn Finally, the symptoms you describe are not suggestive of early HIV infection. While share some characteristics (the sore throat) your fever is not high, and you don't report the other symptoms of early HIV, i.e. muscle aches, diarrhea, rash, etc. I would urge you not to worry.
Avatar n tn I'm not looking to diagnosis a condition from feedback on this matter, but I would like to hear more about characteristics of an ars rash. I can only wonder if this is otherwise a reaction to 2 weeks of azithromycin, but otherwise, one has to consider ars if a rash of this nature is indicative of such infection. Thoughts?
Avatar n tn Your rash has none of the characteristics of herpes. The distribution (groin and perianal) suggests irritation or psoriasis rather than yeast or fungus. In my experience, once you get rid of the inflammation (in your case with one or both of the costisones--betamethosone and desonide--rather than the antifungals--clotrimazole and Loprox, the best thing to do is stop everything and just use a bland moisturizer, if that.
Avatar m tn Having said that, your flu-like illness does have many characteristics of the ARS which accompanies some cases of recently acquired HIV. If this is ARS, a test for HIV antibodies would be positive in just a few days after your symptoms began and a test for HIV p24 antigen or a HIV PCR would be positive at this time. In answer to your specific questions: 1) What you think about? See above. Your symptoms are consistent with a recently acquired HIV infection but are unlikely to be.
Avatar n tn Is it possible to be diagnosed with shingles without having an external rash? The pain is on my left side only in a band near my waist line. The pain is horrific - even to the touch. All symptoms seem to be consistent with shingles but after 2 weeks of this, there is no rash. Narcotics, vicodin and darvocet have helped some but not completely.
Avatar m tn When I went for the HIV test, the result came out negative. Up to this day I still have this rash on my chest and I want to know what could be the cause of this, its really irritating me now because it would not go away.
Avatar m tn First and foremost, HIV does not discriminate based on characteristics of an individual (age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, occupation or any other socio-economic status). Rather, it is the activity one engages in that poses a high risk for HIV transmission. Having said that, you are doing the only thing you can which is to test after having unprotected vaginal sex. HIV can never be diagnosed by symptoms.
Avatar n tn 5days after the incident,i developed a sudden urge to urinate frequently, it felt like a pain towards the tip of my urethra. No burning/discharge or rash around the pubic region. After 5days of this, i decided to see my doctor, i explaind the situation, he said that he doubted it was an std, but just anxiety due to the circumstances with my g/f. But get tested just for my peace of mind.
Avatar f tn Can someone please enlighten me on the characteristics of HIV rash? Like I've read on multiple webpages, and I've gotten so many mixed answers. Plus, I don't think I got bit by a mosquito because I feel as if I would've felt it happening, and I don't remember being bitten at all. I have no other symptoms of HIV — no fever-like symptoms, no tiredness, no joint pain or muscle pain, no vomiting or nausea (minus from nervousness of the thought of possibly having HIV), no blindness, etc.
Avatar n tn and the rash seems to fit the same characteristics on an hiv rash. Small raised red dots. I know it is indeed a rash. How long does an hiv rash last for? I haven't been experiencing other symptoms...no fever or flu like (altough I freak myself out searching for swollen nodes...I always think they are swollen). Would a hiv rash develop this early? 11 days after exposure?
Avatar n tn Unfortunately, you have posted on the wrong site. Questions about HIV belong on the HIV prevention site. I will do my best to answer your questions with this reply but, if you have additional questions or follow-up they must be on the HIV Prevention site. Sorry. Congratulations on your commitment to safe sex. it sounds as though your risk for HIV is low and there is no appreciable risk for HIV from the activities that you describe.
Avatar m tn What are the characteristics of HIV rash? How is it different from HIVES? Lastly, I know that you can't indicate HIV based on their symptoms. I know all the things i've listed above leads to ONE conclusion.
Avatar n tn As for your symptoms, while some of them share characteristics of the ARS, others like rash on soles and tongue bumps for instance, are not part of the ARS. In addition and perhaps more importantly, from what you describe, the likelihood that your partners are infected is very, very low and the odds of acquiring infection, if any one of them was infected (and they are not) is less than one in one thousand. if they were.

There is no laboratory evidence of HIV infection.) HEPATITIS C AB W/REFL AT TO HCV RNA, QN, PCR HEPATITIS C ANTIBODY NON-REACTIVE NON-REACTIVE SIGNAL TO CUT-OFF 0.
Avatar m tn - Does ELISA test (or any antibody) test will be reliable after 25 days of exposure? 4.- Does the red rash in her leg (with the characteristics I described) could be some ARS symptom? 5.- I´ve herad about the new Procleix "early test" that can detect HIV infection after a week of exposure (by Gen-Probe Inc.) They are doing it at the University of California-San Diego's Antiviral Research Center (ARC). Is this reliable?, shoukd I take one?
Avatar m tn The rash that you descibe has some characteristics of a fungal infection but the poor response to therapy makes me wonder if that is what it is. Despite your excellent description I cannot (and should not) make a diagnosis over the internet. You may want to see a dermatologist.
Avatar n tn My question is whether or not female ejaculation, "squirting" would increase HIV risk during oral sex. I last had a HIV/STD test in Dec 2013 and had a clean bill of health. Since then I have had 2 sexual experience. Both times we had unprotected oral sex both giving and receiving and protected vaginal sex. I did not finish in either episode, but the women did have multiple orgasms while I was performing oral sex and I swallowed vaginal fluid/female cum.
