Avatar m tn I am a 48 year old white male, and I have already had a total of 5 heart attacks (all within the last 5 tears). At first my doctoer thought it was due to my low HDL, as it has been lower that 28 for the last 5 years. But after my last attack, about 3 months ago, the doctors are now thinking that my body is trying to reject the 3 stents the have pkaced in me. This last attack was pretty serious, and we are planning to have a defibri;ator implanted later this month.
Avatar f tn I live in a very rural town in NW PA. and wonder what the rate of hiv is in rural america. Is this somewhere that you would consider a high risk area for heterosexual transmission of hiv? Is there a web site that talks about hiv in rural america or that gives the numbers?

Avatar m tn This is what she said to me (the pain is so grate that I cant move, I feel the blood sudenly stop and then the pain comes, the pain is right on top of my heart, but this time it was strange the pain felt right bellow my heart) the thing about this is that she has had it since she was 17, and she gets these maybe a maximum of around 3 times per year and the attacks las around 1 to maybe 3 seconds. Question is ¿ Dose the heart have a reason to stop sudenly, then continue like this ??
Avatar m tn My heart races, my throat kind of tightens, it feels like I cant breathe, I am afraid something is going wrong with me (medically) and I am afraid I am dying. (Having a heart attack, Cardiac Arrest, etc) I have no family history of Heart Attacks, or any heart issues. I do however have a family history of anxiety and panic attack issues. My mom has them, My sisters, and myself.
Avatar f tn s heart rate is dropping to 36 beats per minute. During the day, he has more 2nd degree heart block than in the past, and his average heart rate is down. He gets as low as 40-50 beats per minute during the day, but was still able to reach 152 beats per minute when running. He has not yet shown 3rd degree heart block, and he doesn't seem to have symptoms during the day other than having a hard time waking up, and seeming crankier than usual. Here is my question.
Avatar n tn Posted By sk on October 29, 1998 at 13:02:39: I am a 28 year old female who has some concerns. My father died of a heart attack in his early 50's. He has 6 other brothers and sisters and all of them are living yet with no major health problems. My dad's father died of a stroke in his 60's and his mother died of a heart attack when she was 86. Another important factor with my father was that he smoked 3 packs of cigarrettes a day.
Avatar m tn A nurse has heart attack and describes what women feel when having one: Please read, pay attention, and send it on!... FEMALE HEART ATTACKS I was aware that female heart attacks are different, but this is the best description I've ever read. Women rarely have the same dramatic symptoms that men have ... you know, the sudden stabbing pain in the chest, the cold sweat, grabbing the chest & dropping to the floor that we see in movies.
Avatar n tn I get a sinking in my chest when I lay on my back. I would lay on my bed, and 10-15 minutes later, I feel my chest is getting tight and a little painful; like there is a bowling ball sitting on my chest and makes it hard for me to breath. I then start to feel heart burn. It's not until I roll over to my side; I start to feel some relief and gasping for more air. I'm a 33 year old woman and I work in the field of IT in corporate America in NY. I do not smoke but only drink occasionally.
Avatar m tn I have no heart issue history in my family, but I do have panic history in my family. My mom has anxiety attacks, and my two sisters do too. I just keep worrying that I have a medical issue. These symptoms usually happen when I am in crowded areas, such as grocery stores, etc. I start having a racing heart beat, feeling like im choking, and cant breathe. I start feeling like I might pass out, etc. I have never passed out or anything, but I just get really scared. Please help.

Avatar n tn I am still having intermittent attacks of crushing pain in both arms, (biceps) which occur unpredictably but appear to be less often now, along with tingling in my fingers, maybe twice or three times per year. The attacks are very disabling and the muscles ache for a few days afterwards. My Doctor has no idea why I'm getting these pains. My heart is OK on an Excercise tolerance test. Any ideas?

382218 tn?1341181487 The reduction in cancer deaths for those taking Aspirin resulted in a 12 per cent reduction in deaths not related to the cardiovascular system. "In view of the very low rates of vascular events in recent and ongoing trials of Aspirin in primary prevention, prevention of cancer could become the main justification for Aspirin use in this setting," the researcher wrote.
Avatar n tn Posted By bob on April 08, 1999 at 21:22:55: Could you tell me what the difference between SVT and PSVT is? I have been told I have PSVT. When I have my attacks (never recorded on holter)my heart rate is regular (~220beats per minute) but it doesn't feel like just a very rapid heart beat, rather, like my heart has twisted around or something (very difficult to describe) but I experience no pain, no SOB, and no syncope.
Avatar m tn One of my friends has currently been having some puzzling heart problems. She would be sitting in class, and all of a sudden her hear would race. She would immediately report to the infirmary, where the nurse would take her heart beat into record. I think the highest it ever was was pushing 120, almost into 130. It wasn't like she was doing anything physically strenuous. The only other symptom was a slight tingly sensation in her face, no specific part just all over.
Avatar f tn i was totally convinced i was having heart attacks, but doctor said it was panic attacks. sure cannot tell the difference when it is happening.
Avatar n tn Knowing my body and its function as I do from years of strenuous exercise, I know that what I have experinced in these attacks is something that I have never experienced before. Q: Should I seek a second opinion on the PVC status of my heart? Is something going on here which is more serious than I am being led to believe? Should I be doing something immediately to prevent the onset of the PVC attacks?
Avatar m tn Once the heart reaches a beat of 200 per minutes it does not work well and shakes. You should know if your heart is beating too fast as it is hard to breath once is reaches about 140 to 160 beat per minute depending on the person. Young people sometimes have afib problems in their teenage and yearly twenties so this may be something that you will not have for the rest of your life.
Avatar n tn 1.What's a normal blood pressure(especially systolic) for 60 year old men, in lying positon in bed in the evening and awaken, during sleep and in the morning upon getting out of bed? 2.What's ideal(perfect)blood pressure for prevention of heart attacks, strokes and aneurysm in 60 year old men? 3.What's normal and ideal pulse pressure (systolic-diastolic=pulse pressure) for 50 and 60 year old men in sitting and lying position? 4.
Avatar n tn ve started up in your heart but take heart (pun intended), life goes on and you can have a great time in spite of them.
Avatar n tn I am prescribed 10 mg Valium which takes the edge off but will not slow my heart rate below 110-115 and blood pressure will decrease some but still remains at higher levels. In between attacks, my resting heart rate is still higher than normal (115-125). My doctor suspected that it may not be an anxiety disorder and that I may have hyperthyroidism. I received blood work, and my TSH was normal and T4 only slightly high (likely due to being on birth control pills).
Avatar f tn babies heart was at 140 beats per minute
Avatar m tn If a person has no underlying health conditions such as a heart disease but has a severe panic attack which jumps his or her heart rates up to 180 BPM from 80 BPM within seconds, could this sudden, unexpected change in heart rate and/or the adrenaline rush itself kill you? I have read that 200k+ people die per year from sudden death syndrome. If so, what are the chances of this happening to someone with frequent panic attacks?
Avatar n tn I have had some freak crazy things happen to me both in Japan and back in America. In Japan I had that incident where someone slipped something in my drink. Here, just a few days ago, I was out at a bar with the people from work. I was outside wanting a cig, and ran out. I bummed one off of a guy from work, and then started freaking out later in the night and had to go home. The next day the dude said he dipped those cigarrettes in embalming fluid.
