In the terrorists' attempts to make U.S. to become more limited and less intrusive in its foreign policy approach, it's fair to say they lost convincingly. But Americans have lost, too. That loss didn't come to terrorists or to radical Islam. That loss came to our own government.

Avatar f tn We once thought maybe the immunizations were a factor but that has currently been ruled out as not having any substantial evidence to support it. Now in my grandsons case, he was born with it. Is this only in America or is this problem worldwide and what are your theories as to its origin.
Avatar n tn These have the characteristics of flashback experiences that are very similar to what happens when people take other drugs or take too high a dose of other drugs or take recreational drugs that have been contaminated with other substances. In any case, it causes a form of panic attacks and you need to be treated for the panic attacks with medication. I suggest you talk to your doctor about Klonopin or xanax. If the attacks persist you may want to consider psychotherapy and other medications.
Avatar m tn What I have found in previous posts was the doctors saying that hiv was rare in heterosexual women, rare in sex workers in America, or she probably don't have HIV or something like that. What im wondering is this, in that website that ww2008 sent me it says there are around 1,000,000 to 1,200,000 people living with hiv/aids in the US. I know thats a high number but wouldn't that number seem low since there are around like 300 million people in the US or something like that.
649848 tn?1534633700 The numbers aren’t too much higher when compared with the number gun owners in America -- which is a significantly smaller figure than the number of guns in circulation, since many gun owners own more than one firearm. Since you can’t legally own a rifle until the age of 18 or a handgun until you’re 21 in most states, we’ll start with the number of people 18 and older in the United States, which the U.S. Census Bureau estimated to be around 242.5 million in 2013.
3903589 tn?1348534117 Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction (LVEF or often just EF) is the % of blood in your main heart chamber that is pumped out each time the heart beats. We often think that the heart empty completely each time it beats, but it doesn't. The normal percentage is 50-75%. A lower number may indicate a weakened left ventricle, a higher number can indicate something stressing the body or a variety of other conditions. It can also be normal. During exercise (or anxiety attacks, etc.
Avatar m tn the chance that your partner, as a heterosexual male in North America had HIV is very, very low (less than 1 in 1000) and even if he did , the risk of getting HIV from a single act of unprotected vaginal intercourse were also less than 1 in 1000. Thus, statistically, your risk from the single exposure you describe was less than 1 in a million even before you were tested. Then you had a HIV ELISA blood test at 3 months.
Avatar m tn Is you heart rate too high, can you give a number in beats-per-second? Is the heart rate irregular, do the beats feel like they have different strengths.(pounding)? Other feelings you can describe? Emotions can cause the heart rhythm to behave badly. In this case the heart isn't the problem.

Avatar f tn I was diagnosed as having panic attacks years ago. They were the typical attacks where the symptoms were heart racing, feeling of needing to escape the situation, blurry vision, nausea. But, also at this time, I was having a different sort of episode. I get the feeling in a surge of "something" that starts near my upper abdomen, and then radiates throughout my upper body. It sort of feels like a burning sensation that will move into my arms and back.
1301089 tn?1290666571 Will his opponents as him to denounce the small group of radical extremists who have carried out more than 16,000 terrorists attacks in the name of Islam since 9/11? Will anyone in the media have the courage to ask him or will they just ignore reality? And that terrifying wave of Islamophobia sweeping America? Does Janet Zink and Hafeez mean that in the way that Muslims killed 3,000 Americans in a single day in the name of Islam?
Avatar n tn When there is angina due to coronary occlusions, heart cells are being deprived of blood/oxygen and that can slowly reduce the number of good functioning heart cells and eventually heart failure. Heart attack may never happen, but heart failure as heart cells die. If you are taking medication and that does not relieve chest pain, then you should have interventional treatment...what are the episodes?
Avatar f tn I'm from America
Avatar f tn You are absolutely correct. Inflammation and atherosclerosis doesn't have to take years. I had an angiogram in mid 2010, and by December that year I was in hospital with chest pains. A 95% blockage had formed in 6 months in my Left Circumflex. However the plaque was pretty soft, like butter which showed it wasn't very old. It does seem to take time for a thick calcification to occur.
Avatar n tn t know but sounds scary and sounds like heart attack symptoms, throwing up can happen with heart attacks as well. I would go to the ER. better safe than sorry.
2038871 tn?1329798210 Good posts both of you. And I agree these days America is hardly the number one country in the world and two heart disease is the number one killer. But then again we've seen this topic bandied about for the past many years.........let's get a celebrity on board! let's start a petition'! let's write Dr Oz and Oprah! These newbies just haven't been around long enough to really get it yet.

Avatar m tn With the little you have told us, it is impossible to reach any conclusion. All of us are at some risk of having a heart attack. Your question seems to be looking for a number. I don't think anyone can give you one, but I think it unlikely you will have a heart attack any time soon if you are able exercise and don't have any other warning symptoms. You may want to consider taking an aspirin a day (low/partial dose of full dose) to gain a small measure of protection.
Avatar m tn I am a 48 year old white male, and I have already had a total of 5 heart attacks (all within the last 5 tears). At first my doctoer thought it was due to my low HDL, as it has been lower that 28 for the last 5 years. But after my last attack, about 3 months ago, the doctors are now thinking that my body is trying to reject the 3 stents the have pkaced in me. This last attack was pretty serious, and we are planning to have a defibri;ator implanted later this month.
Avatar m tn I agree with that statement you are what you eat but the MAIN cause of heart attacks is not high cholesterol it's inflammation. What causes inflammation? SUGAR, GLUTEN, processed foods. Sugar is the main culprit.. the inflammation is the reason why people have heart attacks.. we are a fat phobic world when we shouldn't be and that is the problem right there. People who have good cholesterol are having heart attacks all the time..
