Thinking about trying Lexapro for generalized anxiety. Any advice or experiences? I have previously tried Buspar (had no effect) and Zoloft which made me constantly nauseous.

I have a question. I was diagnosed years ago with Generalized Anxiety Disorder with Anxiety Attacks and Agoraphobia. I had a discussion tonight with a friend who keeps saying I do it to myself. I have had this along with a diagnosis of ADD as well as Bipolar 2 and then Clinical Depression. I was wondering if Anxiety is really something that can be controlled by the mind or if it really does need to be treated with medication?
I have a generalized anxiety disorder and a phobia of HIV and rabies. I went to get my blood work down and the nurse used a vacutainer to draw blood. However, the vacutainer holder was reused ( the nurse confirmed it is only the needle which is changed and not the holder as it does not come into contact with the patient) and now I think I will get HIV and I keep thinking about HIV until I get tested again at 3 months after the window period. luckily I have medicines however I hate this.
Nope I haven't tried the online course although I have had CBT to help with my anxiety.

He has dx of ADHD combined type (mild), and generalized anxiety disorder which seems pretty bad. He has been refusing to go to soccer (states too many people), shopping and trying to refuse to go to school. He currently see's a psychiatrist. His treatment plan was to have us get our son to school everyday, where he sat in the office and did his work. The school seemed at a total loss of what to do with him.
I was diagnosed with GAD 16 months ago but I have experienced anxiety symtoms since I was 18 now I am 51. Therapy has done wonders for me to understand the way my mind processes anxiety symptoms and has taught me how to deal with them. Also the frequency of my panic attacks have decreased since going through therapy and coming to this forum has helped . My concern for you is your need for a Dr. you can trust. Maybe you should consider going to a Dr. that has a good reputation.

My boyfriend suffers from generalized anxiety. We have been together for 6 months and have never had intercourse. He seems to be avoiding this as he is afraid of having an anxiety attacks. I was considering going gluten- free for a week and seeing if i would notice a difference although I'm unsure when the symptoms would decrease after that change.

I think that your symptoms come from your generalized anxiety disorder, since your online self-tests come back negative. I don't necessarily agree that just because 2 professionals disagree that you have BP, that you don't. I am 53 and have thought I had bp for the past 2 years, but was told it was just depression because I didn't have the "wild highs" or mania. Finally, a dr. realized that my extreme irritability and anger WAS my manic phase, and am on medication for bp.
I'm afraid that i am not going to be much help except to tell you I have been having similar problems this week. I don't know what is causing it either. I just started taking 50,000 units of Vitamin D and don't know if that could be a factor or not. I don't like this and I take meds for depression and something to hold my thoughts together. This doctor calls it thought glue. It is supposed to help with the symptoms from my thyroid.
hi, im a 19 year old male and i was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder. for the past 3 years i feel detached from everything,that feeling started after i had a bad panic attack while smoking weed and ever since then it feels like everything is just a dream or not real.
