neurontin

1473217 tn?1289243076 I took gabapentin with ativan and percocet. Unfortunately, I could not tolerate the side effects of the gabapentin, though it did help with the pain. It just left me in a terrible fog and I had trouble organizing my thoughts and verbalizing things. (Also tried Lyrica but it caused rapid weight gain with no change in diet.) You could call the pharmacist and ask if that combination of medications are okay to take together.
Avatar f tn 1 year clean and 1 year quit smoking.. cigarettes I’m meaning not weed or whatever..
Avatar f tn on our year anniversary he didnt even say happy anniversary all i got as a present was the big news that he had began to smoke marijuana again. i hate weed with a passion i dont see why people say it isnt harmful, it helps those who are ill but if your healthy it could be very harmful. i always tell him to stop and he refuses and he knows i really am NO fan of weed he always argues with me telling me it isnt a drug but to me it is!
Avatar f tn now i have come to my wits end with answers on how to deal with this. i have read up a lot about depression and i am tryin to be as supportive as possible please give me some answers and tips on what i should do please help!!!
Avatar n tn m not obese although I did gain weight very rapidly for the first 3 months or so. Some people cope well with Lyrica, others with Gabapentin.
Avatar f tn Just to add a ditto to Selma. I too was on gabapentin for a while, it upset my stomach awful and I just didn't feel good taking it, so I switched to its cousin, pregabalin (Lyrica) and I did just fine with years of taking it. Both drugs almost overnight stopped the severe pain in my lower spine, so if pain is still your issue, then pehaps Selma's thoughts would work for you.
Avatar f tn Hi FairyTree, I take a fairly low dose of Gabapentin, 300mg 1x at night. I think this medication helps with my chronic pain and I now rarely get headaches. When I go off of it, I hurt like crazy. All the joint pain comes back with a vengeance. The last time I missed a couple of doses, I hurt so much that I kept having to find a place to sit down while the pharmacist filled the order.
Avatar f tn I think that it helped me with the RLS and a little with sleep. I had that and clonidine (BP med) and couldn't have gone cold turkey from tramadol without them! Good luck!
Avatar m tn I was on Dox for 21 days. The Gabapentin was given to me by my ENT doctor to help with vocal cord and coughing issues (maybe due to Lymes). My Neurologist also wanted me on Gabapentin for leg pain and leg restlessness (Peripheral Neuropathy-maybe due to Lymes) at night. My dosage keeps getting higher. But I still feel about the same. Pain in the back of my calf muscles, back of knees, both sides of knee and left lower back pain. Seems like the doctors are guessing.
Avatar f tn Went to a new doctor today and he seems to feel the vicodene is no longer working so he had prescribed me gabapentin-100 mgs. three times a day. My concern now is withdrawing from the vocoden. doctor has suggested that I taper down to half a pill a week (of the vicodene). Of course I did not tell him how much I was taking of the vicodene. In searching this forum I have read different opions on the gabaperntin.
Avatar f tn Hello, everyone! I am a 16-year-old girl and I take gabapentin for nerve pain (we think...) My neurologist gave me a perscription for 1800 mg per day. The other day, I went to a Christmas party and left the gabapentin at home, so I missed a dose. I got a horrible stomach ache that night and was miserable. The next day, I took the medicine, and the stomach aches are gone. i also have gotten weird vision problems when I accidentally miss a dose.
6937315 tn?1386287618 My research on pain forums and drug websites, which is how this drug is usually used, for pain, shows that at the doses used for pain, which can go pretty high given this drug seems to poop out regularly, coming off is pretty much like coming off a benzo for at least some people, which makes sense since this is shooting pure GABA into your brain, bypassing your digestive system altogether.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Gabapentin for upper abdominal pain that was unexplained by my psychiatrist until my appointment with a GI doctor. It turned out I have a nerve issue in the abdominal wall, and the "fix" is Gabapentin. Aside from having a dizzy feeling for a couple of hours after the first dose (300mg) I have tolerated the drug extremely well. I noticed no other side effects, and was only dizzy for a few hours. I have no idea why it works, but it does.
Avatar f tn Possibly if the gabapentin does not work speak with the Physician about "lyrica' .it is a refined form of Gaba and seems to have good clinical success for neuropathy ..off label I find it personally better than gabapentin Best...
Avatar m tn Don't try to replace an opiate high with it. I just got prescribed Gabapentin last month, for opiate withdraws. I googled the snot out of it, came up with lots of info........ it causes drowiness at high doses (stoned), and weight gain. I'm only taking 300 mg per day, (i've read stories of 2400mg per day) aslso read that at 1000mg for longer than a month requires a taper down so you don't get WD's from it.
293157 tn?1285873439 Also I know that this forum being what it is of course most pain here is likely to be neurological. I never did the trial with gabapentin, it is still in my fridge, out of date now I think. Who knows, it may have even worked for me...just had my opinions set from my experiences, which were of a patient group not typical of those here. Anyway, it's always good to get two sides of an argument, wobbly is either now very well informed or confused!
Avatar f tn Iv ad a BAD weekend and my sisters friend who has sufferd with fibro for 11 years, advised me try gabapentin as she swears by it making her much better. Has anybody tried this medication? she also says to use sea kelp?
Avatar f tn Has anyone expierence swelling of the face with gabapentin? I know it can be a side effect. My question is; Is this an allergic reaction or is the dosage too much? Actually my face feels stiff at times and cheeks get sore. If it is the gabapentin, what would be the alternative? Thank you med help family........
Avatar f tn I had an episode of burning on my forhead and cheeks and pins and needle feelings in which I started Gabapentin for. Over a 4 week period I gradually increased the dosage to what I am on now, 300mg three times daily. This seems to help greatly with the nerve pain but I started after 2 weeks to develop a very itchy neck, ear lobe, and face. My face sometimes looked like it was burned. Im just wondering if anyone has had this while taking Gabapentin.
Avatar m tn I am of the opinion that a slow taper of 10% taper or wean per month is prudent with gabapentin if you have been on gabapentin long term (more than 1 year and at high doses (2000 mg.) or higher and you should be able to lesson severity of the withdrawal if any with magnesium supplements, check out the road back.org. they talk about the role of supplements to help lesson the withdrawal from all kinds of druggs not just gabapentin.
Avatar n tn I am a 50 yr old male. I was prescribed Gabapentin for neurological pain management by the VAMC in Tampa, Florida. According to some post I've read, Gabapentin is a med that one must be weened off of. I've been taking Gabapentin off and on to help with pain so I can sleep. I don't take it all the time because of the side effects. Sometimes, but not all the time, I feel like I'm having a bad hangover after the medication wears off.
1218873 tn?1300091216 ve had experience with Gabapentin and amitryline. Currently I take 900 mg Gapapentin 3X daily. I have been taking it for years and although it made me very sleepy at first, I seem to have become acclimated to, it but it did take awhile. When I first started the Gab. I slowly worked up to 200 mg amitryline, but that was just too much (I was comatose) as I was trying to work at the time. Have you discussed the possibility of taking detrol.
595559 tn?1241140638 What do you guys that know me and my background with being addicted to opiates think about me smoking weed to help with my Bipolar disoder???? And I mean every now and then.....not everyday. I am of course, also taking my meds from my pdoc. I would like some input.
