Avatar f tn I think this medication helps with my chronic pain and I now rarely get headaches. When I go off of it, I hurt like crazy. All the joint pain comes back with a vengeance. The last time I missed a couple of doses, I hurt so much that I kept having to find a place to sit down while the pharmacist filled the order. I asked the pharmacist if there could be something of a withdrawal problem with the med, other than increased risk of seizures.
Avatar n tn Can any "medication cause sudden onset of join pain?? This discussion is related to severe sudden onset of joint pain in all joints.
Avatar f tn I was on gabapentin. it did well helping my all around aches and pains (joint and muscle's). the one and only thing about it was that I felt drossy the whole next morning.
Avatar f tn I am a 39 year old female with diagnosed eczema, alopecia areata, high blood pressure, migraines, increased sweating, widespread musical and joint pain. About 3 months ago I was diagnosed with peripheral nueropathy to both feet. I am not diabetic. I was prescribed gabapentin, total of 700 mg a day. Gabapentin worked for a month or 2. Recently I have had a 5 day "flare up" in which the pins and needles and burning sensation seems to be traveling to boys of my knees.
Avatar n tn I am a 50 yr old male. I was prescribed Gabapentin for neurological pain management by the VAMC in Tampa, Florida. According to some post I've read, Gabapentin is a med that one must be weened off of. I've been taking Gabapentin off and on to help with pain so I can sleep. I don't take it all the time because of the side effects. Sometimes, but not all the time, I feel like I'm having a bad hangover after the medication wears off.

Avatar m tn Some of the statin drugs, like the one you're taking, can cause joint/muscle pain. My mom had to stop taking Lipitor because of severe leg pain. Before you ask your doctor for a referral to a rheumatologist, do some research into the side effects of your meds. There are some web sites out there that let you input all your meds and supplements, and check for side effects and adverse interactions. Another good source of information is your local pharmacist.
Avatar f tn Hello. In about 2007 I was diagnosed with vulvodynia (chronic vulvar pain). After all the typical treatments amtriptoline, neurontin, gabapentin, physical therapy, muscle relaxants, topical creams, etc., my doctor finally to do last resort treatment of vestibulectomy. First surgery went okay but didnt help, so another doctor tried again. After the second surgery, I woke up with burning inner thigh pain. That was in 2010 and no one has been able to help with either condition.
Avatar f tn They are for nerve pain. I used the gabapentin/Neurontin during my first tx and it did help me quite a bit. Of course that was all I had so no choice. Finally my liver doctor told me I could take Advil, that helped quite a bit. Also I think you are right, because Simeprevir is in trials, has not been approved for use yet; you might receive better answers from question regarding Peg, Riba, Simeprevir. I hope that someone can provide help.
Avatar f tn It has been almost another five months of level 6-10 pain. I have had multiple sacroiliac joint injections which helped a little bit. We tried nerve blocks on the lateral branches of all of the sacral nerves and the top of the sacrum. This stung like lemon juice on a cut - I think because of the rupivicaine (caines tend to sting and hurt me). The nerve block was not effective. I had been on gabapentin and stopped thinking it wasn’t doing much.
Avatar n tn I take 120 mg of Cymbalta, 3200 mg of gabapentin and 90 mg of oxycodone a day. it is not enough, what can I take over the counter that could help in addition.
1207048 tn?1282174304 m thinking of seeing my neuro to see if I can take the gabapentin during the day (right now I take 500 mg before bed only). My regular doctor is the one that prescribed the Celebrex thinking the joint pain was arthritis, though my x-rays and blood work were normal. I'm pretty sure that I'm having muscle issues that will sometimes cause some joint pain, but I do think the problem is starting in my muscles. But, what the heck do I know?
Avatar n tn I'm not yet Dx with anything...but do not have that type of pain..mine is more tingling, zapping.. small headaches... some joint pain... but not "10" level.. have they check for fibromyalgia?? have you had blood tests with a Rheumotologist? I would head in the direction..
1838963 tn?1318496884 medical background: I am 21 years old. I have been having severe headaches since I was 16. Chronic joint pain at 16 as well. I was EXTREMELY active as a child/teenager. (Swimming, Soccer, Cheerleading, Tennis, Track, Volleyball) Pain became worse after I had a child.
Avatar m tn Have you tried either gabapentin or Lycria? I am on Gabapentin and it is an amazing drug it really helps calm the pain down. I also take Amitriptyline which works well. The gabapentin is best though its made a major difference to my pain levels. I have also had two nerve blocks with a drug called gaunethidine. The first one worked very well and I had about two months partial relief from the pain. The second one I had has not worked as well though.
Avatar n tn Fast forward to 8/10 ,came off the gabapentin because I was pregnant. Pain was manageable off gabapentin. Just after 3rd trimester had another bout R sided SI joint pain, along with another outbreak ( I was still on suppressive tx). from this point forward, the deep pain at the pubic rami progressively worsened as the pregnancy progressed, and also had the groin pain that comes along with pregnancy. Had elective C-section due to concern with the vulvar pain.
Avatar n tn in 2007 about 3 months after final treatment, i started getting joint pain, beginning in my fingers. some times all my joints hurt, especially at night. gabapentin helps some, as does lyrica. I still have too much pain with the neurontin. tried a higher dose of lyrica and just went to sleep, couldn't function. the joint pain has gotten progressivdely worse over the last 14 months. i would think it would be getting better, not worse.
Avatar n tn They are both used to treat nerve pain (neuropathic pain), but gabapentin can be useful in treating other pain syndromes, like the pain of peripheral neuropathy, or the pain of fibromyalgia. The only way to know if this medication will help is to try it, but I repeat, it is not used to substitute for opiate treatment, so you will most likely continue your morphine and oxycodone while trying it. Pain management, like football, is a game of inches.
