681148 tn?1437661591 I was taking the Gabapentin with Soma earlier in the year of 2008 since the gabapentin didn't work I stopped taking it. Thanks for the info though and hopefully you will get some relief with that bit of advice.
Avatar f tn Gabapentin is a drug that has many adverse side effects. I would question the sanity of any physician that prescribed gabapentin to help with percocet withdrawals. But that's just me. Go to the PDR (physician's desk reference) and look up the established side effects of gabapentin.
Avatar f tn I was perscribed Gabapentin which is generic for Lyrica, I believe. I was perscribed this prior to my diagnosis and my insurance just approved it. Does this medication help w/the pain or what? I have never taken this before and don't know exactly what it is for. The doctor who prescribed it gave it to me months ago but my insurance said they didn't cover it so I just forgot about it and then I got the diagnosis and didn't think much of it after that.
Avatar f tn Could gabapentin change up the sensation like this? Or can I figure that the gabapentin has done nothing, and my body is just switching it up? The gabapentin couldn't CAUSE the nerve pain, could it? I am totally thrilled to've gotten rid of the freaky patches. However, it'd be nice to see the pain go too now! My doctor increased my dose to 600 mg a day now, and so, I guess what I'm wondering is, does this dose sound large enough to be effective?
Avatar f tn Now this has been going on for months and months and months (daily) and the twitching was driving me insane, I went back on gabapentin for nerve pain and this seemed to help the twitching heaps but I still keep getting it but not as bad as before HOWEVER... when I have a shower, put a warm face washer etc. on that eye, get hot, even steam from the stove when I am cooking will send the eye either numb or into a twitching fit...lol.
Avatar f tn I've been to the neurologist, who was no help. Lesion on brainstem still active, other lesions not active. Probably had ON a year and a half ago and probably have had 5 attacks in the last year and a half, so you have MS but can't get a diagnosis cause no new lesions. So... he tells me we'll start Coxpone (sp? I'm too tired to look it up) when the nurse calls me in about 2 months.
Avatar f tn am at present taking 2400 mg per day of gabapentin and find only some relief from pain and other feelings of discomfort. my GP thinks this level of medication is adding to my fatigue and tiredness.I was wondering if anyone knows of alternative drugs that can be used so I can go armed with info when I go to see my consultant....
681148 tn?1437661591 Anyone who has taken Gabapentin (Neurontin) for a couple of months for the nerve pain post Shingles outbreak: What was the dosage you took to deal with the nerve pain and how long did you take it before the nerve pain stopped? I'm not concerned about the safety of the Neurontin at the low dosage I'm taking. I'm actually more concerned about the effectiveness.
Avatar f tn t until I began taking first Lyrica, then Gabapentin and lastly Topomax (for PHN due to shingles) that she finally realized that part of her pain was being caused by the Gabapentin. While on the Gabapentin I noticed that I had pain in places unrelated to the PHN. I also had swelling in both ankles as well as hip pain, shin pain, and numbness in my legs, along with many other side affects that were less than comforting.
Avatar n tn I have been on gabapentin for about three weeks and my back and stomach are broke out in hives or my daughterin law says they look like boils on my back .
Avatar f tn With anything though I would only take it as long as you have too. If on it for awhile it does have to be tapered off of. When you do a search for it type in gabapentin, the generic name. It brings up much more information on it. Maybe call a pharmacist and ask them. The should have the better answers about it. Best of luck and let me know how it works for you!
1831849 tn?1383228392 I have been on gabapentin for 2 months, It helps somewhat with pain, it helped me to sleep very sound, until this week, I can't seem to get to sleep and awake alot during the night.
1831849 tn?1383228392 The nurse who called in the Rx mentioned that it would take a while for the Gabapentin to get up to the required levels in my blood. I have seen about a 60% improvement in my foot pain. How long does it take for the levels to reach maximum efficacy? If 6 days is sufficient I think I'll ask about upping the dose.
Avatar f tn Hi clean, yes I'm on a multitude of medications. Subutext, Wellbutrin, gabapentin(I stopped taking it), latuda, lamictal, klonopin, and levothyroxine(for some thyroid problem. And yes I keep the subutex under my tongue for sometimes 30 minutes as long as I can. I'm trying to drink a lot of water. Eating I'm not that good at. Oh and yes I see my pain management Dr. Who is also my primary care Dr. Who prescribed my the subutext on Thursday.
Avatar n tn I have heard the side effects of lyrica can be more irritating than with gabapentin. Not to say gabapentin is side effect free but the only annoying side effect I had with gabapentin was a sore throat that persisted for 2-3 weeks and then went away. However, others have experienced dizziness on gabapentin. With both meds, the dose is slowly ramped up to a therapeutic amount. Typically, you are prescribed 1 capsule on the first day, 2 on the second day, and so on and so forth.
Avatar m tn I started taking 300mg of R-Alpha Lipoic Acid 3 hrs before bedtime and 600mg of Gabapentin 3 hrs later at bedtime. I can sleep all night now.Is taking the R-Alpha and Gabapentin both dangerous. I can get no response from my Neurologist..
Avatar m tn Can someone tell me what Gabapentin or tizanidine is? What its used for and will it help with suboxone withdrawals? Any info would help. Thanks.
1218873 tn?1300091216 Anyway just before we went, I had an dr. appointment. In short he is changing the Gabapentin to Pregabalin which he is asking my GP to over see when I'd returned from holiday. Also did a blood test for sarcoid, as I have had eye problems, he felt this was unlikley but wanted the test done. If that is negative he is refering me to a specialist for botox which will help the TN pain. So I have returned to find a letter from my GP to go and see him as soon as I return from holiday.
Avatar n tn Hi seb5512, how are you? Please give some more information regarding who is suffering from these multiple joint pain and since when it has been? What kind of medication do you think has caused it and what for the drug was taken? Usually the attending physician gives information regarding the possible side effect of the drug while prescribing the medication. It could also be Arthritis due to many causes. Are you the one suffering with or some one else?
Avatar f tn I was on 300mg gabapentin for nerve pain foe three weeks, but had to stop abruptly as I was suffering severe breathing problems, Three weeks later I am still suffering withdrawal problems, is this normal.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am new to this group. I have had more than 85 blood tests since I was diagnosed with Lyme in July of 2014. All have been negative. I have been on may drugs for pain and currently on Gabapentin for vocal cord/coughing issues and leg pain (knee, calf, left side back). I don't think it is helping much. Is anyone else on Gabapentin?
293157 tn?1285873439 Because I seem to be responding better to this latter drug, I am now slowly weaning off the gabapentin. I guess if the pain increases as I go off the gabapentin, this will tell me it was helping more than I realized. I have no side effects from the gabapentin, even at such a high dose. I do find the 50mg amitriptyline makes me very drowsy, and may need to scale it back to 40mg if this side effect continues.
