neurontin

Avatar m tn Hi, I've been taking Zoloft 100mg for OCD for the last 4 weeks, my dr increased me to 150mg. Is it normal to have nervousness and increased sweating and headache when increasing dosage? I was feeling good on 100 mg and side effects were subsiding. How long will it take to adjust to 150? I also was just put on 10mg of lisiniprol for high blood pressure. And I'm taking gabapentin for insomnia from the Zoloft. I really appreciated any advice!
Avatar f tn Hello! My name is Devon and I've been diagnosed with Bi polar 2, panic and anxiety disorder and ocd. I've been doing great lately until abouta week ago when I woke up one morning ( still feeling fine ) and had 4 cups of coffee throughout the morning. I ate and then decided to do a work out... During the workout I was feeling really weak so I stopped half way through and called it a day for that. I took a bath and my feelings of my body being weak just got worse.
Avatar f tn t working very well so I got on trintellix 10 mg for 3 weeks causes serious anxiety,OCD and lethargy and depression. I want to get back on the Zoloft I'm still taking the buspirone in the Gabapentin but it's been 3 days since I've taken the trintellix what do I do? Taper ? Switch? I just want to leave the house without fear and anxiety without the lethargy.
Avatar f tn Why were you on the gabapentin and acyclovir? Could some of this be from withdrawal of one or both? Vitamin D deficiency is pretty easy to check, but I don't think it would cause such symptoms. Have you seen a neurologist about the neuropathy?
Avatar f tn I began taking Gabapentin for the electricity and muscle spasms in my legs. My initial dose was 100 mg at bedtime. Now, I am up to 100 mg 3 times daily. It has helped greatly, but recently I have been having some break-through spasms. I do not recall having had any "vibrations" from the medication itself.
Avatar f tn I have taken gabapentin and xanax for 10+ years without problems. Xanax is a shorter acting benzodiazapine then librium. You may find you need less librium with gabapentin.
Avatar f tn I have a good family and friends but felt I could not talk to them and they would not understand. I took sleeping pills and gabapentin luck for me I was ok. Still feel anxious and in a not. I have just been to a wellbeing meeting and I'm going to a group session people who no what we feel like I will let you know how the support goes. Lollypop.

Avatar f tn I had a migraine new to me about a month ago went to a neurologist he prescribed meythpredislone 21 pack and after that was completed he prescribed neurotin gabapentin which I am very afraid of taken but I started taken 1 before I go to bed. Why did the neurologist prescribed that if it was just for headaches?
Avatar m tn I am currently using 8mg of buprenorphine,1800mg of gabapentin and 150mg of wellbutrin daily as medicine for pain management and nerve pain. Now I'cant obtain gabapentin anymore and would like to transfer to oxycodone 120mg daily as a substitute for buprenorphine and gabapentin.I would like to know is such change possible.
Avatar m tn sciatic nerve damage. The Gabapentin works great, aside from the fact that I get brain fog and drowsiness. This drug separates me from pain, however, makes me a zombie! Does anyone know of a drug or supplement that I can take with the Gabapentin to combat the somnolence?
Avatar m tn I have Congenital nystagmus and tried gabapentin but it seemed to be making the Nystagmus worse. I started taking bupropion at the same itme, and suspect the bupropion may have interfered with the initial trial of gabapentin. I need the bupropion for the anxiety associated with Nystagmus, but I know it causes blurred vision and convergence problems. Should I even bother to try memantine? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I have tried Gabapentin, and I am currently taking Lyrica, which is a relative of Gabapentin. It does help a little, but not enough to enable me to sit down longer.
Avatar f tn Hey nailbox.(That's quite original) Welcome to the forum! Can't say that your case is unique, as two thirds (2/3rds) of patients on gabapentin will experience adverse effects. There may be some changes in your symptoms, better or worse, more or less, if you wish to stick with it. You may also want to look into Picamilon , made by combining a GABA derivative and Niacin which is sold as an OTC dietary supplement in the U.S.A. Not sure where you live.
Avatar f tn I have had conversations about Gabapentin (and my intolerance to it) and I have learned through my own trial and error that it does take time for your body to adjust. I also know (through googling many different medications) that each time you adjust the dosage, that your body can have side effects. The side effects should get better as your body adjusts, but if they don't, you should definitely talk to your doctor about it.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am on 3000 mg. of Gabapentin now too, and I'm finding it does not seem to help the pain and spasms in my legs. I am also on Baclofen, and tried Zanaflex but coudl not tolerate the Zanaflex., even at a small dose. The Baclofen seems to help with spacisity, but not the pain, so we still have the stiffness and pain, and that ICE COLD feeling that we get in the calf muslcles of my legs. Why are you going off the Gabapentin?
Avatar f tn as far as I know, there is no generic version of Lyrica at this time... and Lyrica and Gabapentin are two completely different medications... if your doctor or pharmacist told you otherwise, they are incorrect. Gabapentin is generic for Neurontin, originally developed as an anti-epileptic, whereas Lyrica was developed specifically for treatment of neuropathic pain. They both work on the body's GABA receptors, but the mechanism of action is slightly different with each.
Avatar f tn The other day, I went to a Christmas party and left the gabapentin at home, so I missed a dose. I got a horrible stomach ache that night and was miserable. The next day, I took the medicine, and the stomach aches are gone. i also have gotten weird vision problems when I accidentally miss a dose. The little packet that came with my medicine said there can be vision changes and GI problems if you stop taking the medicine completely without medical advice.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am new to this group. I have had more than 85 blood tests since I was diagnosed with Lyme in July of 2014. All have been negative. I have been on may drugs for pain and currently on Gabapentin for vocal cord/coughing issues and leg pain (knee, calf, left side back). I don't think it is helping much. Is anyone else on Gabapentin?
Avatar f tn Just to add a ditto to Selma. I too was on gabapentin for a while, it upset my stomach awful and I just didn't feel good taking it, so I switched to its cousin, pregabalin (Lyrica) and I did just fine with years of taking it. Both drugs almost overnight stopped the severe pain in my lower spine, so if pain is still your issue, then pehaps Selma's thoughts would work for you.
Avatar f tn Could gabapentin change up the sensation like this? Or can I figure that the gabapentin has done nothing, and my body is just switching it up? The gabapentin couldn't CAUSE the nerve pain, could it? I am totally thrilled to've gotten rid of the freaky patches. However, it'd be nice to see the pain go too now! My doctor increased my dose to 600 mg a day now, and so, I guess what I'm wondering is, does this dose sound large enough to be effective?
293157 tn?1285873439 Hi Sweetie, I have taken gabapentin for years and I will have to tell you it is a wonderful drug, if it works for you. You might be tired at first but it will quickly fade, take your first dose at bedtime. You might feel a little loopy at first but that will soon pass too. How much has he started you on? I didn't have weight gain with it but some people might. It interrupts the pain signals in the central nervous system.
Avatar n tn Gabapentin and Lyrica are in the same class of anti-convulsants and have similar actions. However their side-effect profiles may differ somewhat. If you are finding that the side-effects with gabapentin are tolerable then it would probably be best to increase the dose under doctor's advice. There is a long way upwards that you may go with the dose before reaching the upper limit, as Jason80 points out.
Avatar f tn I take 300 mg of Gabapentin 3 x a day and it helps my fibro quite a bit..I can't take lyrica, my hands and feet swell, I also take meloxicam 7.5 mg 2 x a day ...
Avatar f tn I was on gabapentin. it did well helping my all around aches and pains (joint and muscle's). the one and only thing about it was that I felt drossy the whole next morning.
Avatar f tn I plan on lowering my dose of vicodene tomorrow and start taking the gabapentin. Doctor said it was safe to take both. Any advice and all suggetions would be much appreciated. I know I have to get off the vics but the w/d's scare the h*** out of me. Good Luck to all fighting this fight.
Avatar f tn I think that it helped me with the RLS and a little with sleep. I had that and clonidine (BP med) and couldn't have gone cold turkey from tramadol without them! Good luck!
